6/14/13 I ASKED FOR EXTRA, EXTRA BUTTER, AND THEN WENT BACK FOR MORE BUTTER I shamelessly inhale theater popcorn. Its actually pretty freaky. We saw a screening of the Internship at this location ten days ago and the humungous popcorn container that we finished while there and refilled, is actually still being slowly picked at. It sits on my kitchen counter and I eat a piece here and there. Pretty much every time I walk by. I have never seen a large popcorn as big as this one. Pretty good deal since it wasnt more expensive than movie theater popcorn anywhere else. $13.75 for the Combo deal with large soda. Oddly, it took waaaaay more butter to make it flavorful than Ive ever had to ask for. I actually sent my husband up for more butter a little ways into the bucket. I couldnt do it, since Id seen how much had already put on. I wont tell you how many salt packets I added. I figure salt is good for my weirdly low blood pressure. And popcorn is good for my soul. Artificial popcorn butter has been linked to Alzheimers Disease and is good for nothing. Im not sure if Diacetyl (the ingredient) is in theater popcorn, but Ive stopped eating the microwave stuff. The theater staff were very nice and talked to us to see how we liked the movie after it ended. The theater was clean and seats were comfortable. As I mentioned, we were there for a screening, so thats possibly why security sat in the room with the audience with some sort of futurist night vision looking equipment, scanning for pirates. I am curious if this is done for every showing here. I was afraid to check my phone and was waiting for a notary call; but thats their job. Fun experience overall!

Regal Cinemas is our Theatre of choice to watch English and Hindi movies. Its pretty close to where I stay, so we end up walking most of the time. The cinema theatre is located as part of a bigger shopping complex, so plenty of parking space is available anyway. Also, you have some great choice of restaurants co-located with this complex. So, if you have time to spend, you can do the dinner-movie-icecream triathlon and go back home. The theatre itself is fairly new. The interiors are great and looks fresh. The place is maintained well. The staff friendly too. We have a Regal Card, so we get some free stuff, like a soda or popcorn once in a while. The movie theatre are well maintained and cleaned after every show. We have been going there for the last 3 years and never have I found the theatre lacking in cleanliness. Seating and sound equipment is great. The great part about this theatre is that they have plenty of screens and a good number of shows for each movie. They also have ticketing machines inside the theatre just in case you find yourself standing behind a huge line or it gets really chill to stand outside. This theatre also houses an IMAX screen. Of all the movies i have seen, Gravity on an IMAX was a fantastic experience. The other great part is that they play Hindi movies too. The one drawback is that the place does get pretty crowded over the weekends, especially in the evenings and once or twice, I have found only 1 or 2 operating counters. Come on Regal., you can fix that.

Great movie theater and the most convenient IMAX in the East Bay (your next option is Metreon in SF I believe). Since movies (and movie food) has gotten so expensive, Ive become particular in what movies I will pay to see and I almost always see them in IMAX. Very clear/easy to figure out what is playing in IMAX and IMAX 3D if you just search on Google, Fandango, or the theaters website. Food is overpriced, but not anymore so than other theaters. Note thats how they make their money, their margins are RAZOR thin on the movie tickets themselves (that money goes to the studio), so they have to charge a ton for movie food just to keep the place open. If you dont like the food prices, DONT BUY ANY FOOD! You can easily get some of your own food into this place, just put some candy and a soda/water in your pocket or purse, no big deal. (If you just HAVE to have that popcorn, you need to be ok with paying for it. I love movie theater popcorn, but not for $5-8.) Friendly staff and clean (for a movie theater). Overall great experience!!

Good show (we saw Spiderman) unfortunately the IMAX movie was awesome as always in the viewing but unfortunately as with nearly EVERY theater the movies volume was way, way too loud! This is coming from someone who is hearing disabled and who has children that had to cover their ears for many portions of the show. There are ways to enjoy the show and actually feel like you are one of the movie characters without making your ears bleed or causing damage to a persons ear drums... Regarding the food it is / was very much standard. That is as usual way, way over priced and the quality was at the very best mediocre and really that is all you can ever say about the food choices at this and most theaters. I have to say at least I didnt get sick from the food so that is always a plus. Seating was OK. Not much to say about that unfortunately for the price of IMAX you would think they would have better seats like that of the other theaters at that are actually less expensive.

Its pretty damned cool theater, and you can go there expecting to eat first. And when I say, "you can go there expecting to eat first," Im referring to the fact that the theater is perfectly centered next to Fuddruckers, Quiznos, On The Border, Five Guys, and several other restaurants located within the relaxing outdoor plaza that would give you much more for the food money. The movie-viewing experience is quite legit. Great seats. Great screens. It truly feels like a destination experience. And if you go, please, wait in line with everyone else who hasnt noticed that there are kiosks just inside the door on the right where you can buy the tickets for the same price in half the time. Seriously, unnecessarily waiting in line is part of the experience. Itll make it that much easier for me to quickly get my tickets and find a good seat.

You do have the option of purchasing your tickets from a person or a ticket kiosk. The concessions leave a lot to be desired. Once youve purchased your snacks, you have to shove your way out from the people waiting to purchase theirs. Lots of overcrowding. Its the same with the different wings of the theater - once youve watched your film, you have to fight the bottleneck of people trying to come in, or you can go underneath the ropes, like I did. The bathrooms were so-so. One stall had no seat covers in the middle of the day. One sink had no soap. It seems all the staff was stuck behind the counter getting the million people their popcorn. Ill not be going back. They only get two stars for the decent seating.

This Regal is not very regal! My main concern is the seating. I had a hard time getting my armrest down because it was sticking and the fabric on the seat was so stained and dingy. I put napkins down on my seat just to make sure the stains didnt transfer to my clothes. Other than that, the usual, popcorn costs more than a whole meal elsewhere, drinks are yet as expensive. If you ask for a cup of water, they wont give you a lidded cup. I went to a different theater this weeken, and they had clear plastic cups with lids for water! Plus, their butter dispenser was self serve for the popcorn and they had small tray style cardboard boxes for popcorn sharing available on a self serve basis as well!
