After my last experience at this theater I will never go back. After waiting in line for tickets we were informed by the ticket agent that they only accept cash, which is fine, but it took us a while to figure out because the cashier only mumbled so had to ask them to repeat what they wanted several times. So we went to the ATM, came back, and got our tickets this time only to have something else mumbled at us so we moved on. We went in, got some popcorn and snacks, and moved into the theater to find they were still cleaning so we sat on the steps to wait for them to get done. It was raining at this point so I didnt want to stand outside and get my food all wet. The concession stand worker soon walked over and opened the door for us and said very rudely "Do I have to help you go outside? Leave or you wont be allowed in our theater". Fine, so we collected our stuff and weathered the rain. All in all its a small theater with no space to handle crowded showings and a rude staff to go with it. Hardly a neighborhood experience at all.

This theater is odd. The movie we saw had three people besides our small group, and the sound dampening between screens is not good at all. Quiet moments of our film were frequently disrupted by a louder film nearby. Getting in the door was needlessly slow going. Instead of having one person focus on filling orders and the other ringing up customers they insisted on each ringing and then filling part of the order, and then tried to ring in another customer. This left us waiting for several minutes since our food was ready. All in all, it costs $30-40 for a party of two, and unless your film is ONLY here you are going to be happier elsewhere if its a quiet one. Projection quality is fine, audio was OK.

I love this neighborhood theater but unfortunately on a recent trip there we found the theater to be extremely dirty. The arms of the seats are brown and grungy and there was food, garbage between the seats (this was the first showing of the day) and the cup holders were filthy! I understand they are a small theater but they need to have a thorough cleaning or I may not return.

The staff seems very young and not customer focused, they have no understanding of the fact that they are there to serve customers, and are more interested in proving that they are right. I hope management realizes that staff needs better training on how to deal with the public. I too, will never go there again.

Old films and independent films. Everything you ever wanted to see like the Monterey Pop festival from the 60s on the 50th anniversary of a seminal musical extravaganza. Whoevers curating the selection is a genius. AC is chilling on a hot day....the perfect place to see films. A place to return again and again.

My wife and I recently saw the Captain Sully movie here and really loved the theater. Although its a bit dated it has a lot of character and brought back the old movie experience for us. The staff was friendly and the popcorn was also very good :) We will come back here again in the future.

The Elmwood, with its great variety of film choices and smaller venue, is such a bonus to the neighborhood. You can find something good to eat close by and it is close enohg to walk to for some of us lucky neighbors!

Lovely, older theater! I always enjoy going to a theater that reminds me of my childhood, and Im very thankful they play documentaries, National Theater Live, and other non-Hollywood films!

Not a very large theatre but nice for coming on the weekend. Went yesterday to go watch Tommorrow and it was pretty cool how after the movie finished, the actors held a Q&A session.

Saw a foreign film here. Theater is cute but screens are very small; if someone stands up in the theater, their head blocks the projector.
