Papago Park is a must see for every visitor and resident alike. I went there for my first time last Sunday and though not crowded as other reviews stated it had enough people and was pleasantly quiet. I arrived here via public transportation which brought me tight next to the zoo. I was greeted by a gorgeous water front lined with palm trees and grass bringing to mind a view of the tropics. There were lots of ducks almost running coming up to me to say hi, or in their language "did you bring us food today?" I was surprised how people friendly they were and did not show no sense of fear whatsoever. I even saw a few ducks I had never seen before which was pretty cool. It was quite hot when I arrived so it took me about 30 minutes to get near the rock that houses the hole. I stopped halfway to use the washroom which was surprisingly open, considering the zoo itself was closed. It was also very clean and had plenty of toilet paper for visitors. Upon exiting, I attempted to drink water from the fountain so I could save mine with the ice for the hike, and the water was actually hot; Almost too hot for drinking. Lol. I did not see that coming! My lips felt like Jennifer Lopezs lips looked in the movie Monster-in-law after she ate something she was allergic to. Yep, that hot. I walked up and about and I kept the driving pathway thought there was no clear walkway. There was a few rest stops with table, chairs, and shelter which is awesome for a picnic during cooler weather. I kept my eye on the goal which was the hole. It looked closer than it actually was but once I got near there I felt relief. I started my trek upward to make my 10 minute walk but the heat made it challenging. One slope was a little bit to slippy so I had to bend in a crawling position which I once again burnt my hands on the rock which was very very hot. That experienced can be compared to the one thief in the movie Home Alone who touched the heated door knob.

This is an interestingly designed park, It utilizes the central Arizona Canal Project as a main feature and it creates electricity as the water calls on its way out if the park, Make sure to take water with you, There are water fountains in the park, however there are some areas of the park that you will be hard pressed to find a fountain nearby and the water is the same temperature asttt the ambient are, there is paved wdalking, biking or jogging path that is lined mostly with Palm trees and few indigenous tree species. That is the odd thing the park, it seems as you walk through Papago Park that it was poorly designefdds, add 2 times more hydration stations and bury those pipes at least 3 feet underground the water will be a little cooler at least, get rid of all non native plant life from the ponds and waterways within the park the paved walking, driving, jogging paths need to be fully lined with native tree species. This and the water fountain.redo would reduce heat related issues at the park.

I had some time to kill so I drove here to walk around not knowing what to expect. I have been to the Phoenix Zoo and Botanical Gardens here but never been to the park section. It has a beautiful 5k hiking/walking trail. From the parking lot I started off to the left. The first half of the trail was well shaded with native foliage. The second half is a little more sparse. For a small portion of the trail it follows a busy street that there is a lot of noise from but nothing you cant drown out with headphones. The trail is well marked. There will be some points were you will need to pay attention to the sign to continue. It is primarily paved but does have some dirt walkways. At one point you do walk by a golf course and across an access street.

One of my favorite places to walk and hike. The large red rock formations are striking in their Mars-like appearance, yet sprays of creosote and friendly Saguaros remind you that youre in the Southwest . This park is diverse in that its got a paved road for anyone to walk on, sandy desert trails for jogging, and the buttes to climb if you want a real workout. People if all fitness levels can enjoy. Papago Park offers the peace and beauty of the Sonoran right in the middle of the city. Easy and quick to get to.

Love this park Ive been coming here with my wife and kids for 10 years now. Great place to hike awesome view once you get to the top of the mountain. There is great covered picnic areas with grills and a few small lakes. This park is also right next to the Phoenix zoo and the botanical gardens. It gets busy during the fall, winter and spring. Not so busy during the summer due to Arizonas triple digit heat and would recommend to take your hike before 8am and after 6pm during summer.

Sunrise view is special. Walk up and see. Its a 2 min walk to the cave and as easy as it gets. Beautiful RED rock. You can imagine being under the sea and hiding in this cave. Its well traveled and always has a human presence around BUT its a local landmark. Must be seen 1× at the least. 100-400 lb folks can walk the 2-3 min walk. Its practically paved. Always a stunning sunrise here....and sunset from the cave (facing downtown) is spectacular.

Great place to catch the sunset and just recharge your batteries in life while taking a break from the city, freeways and work. Just a slight detour through this place and a short break can do wonders for you! Nothing like driving through and seeing the rock formations and reflections in the ponds while others fish, picnic and relax here in the park. For the more adventurous you can climb up the rock formations and look out the window!

Any place that allows dogs is almost an automatic win for me. Also this place has real bathroom facilities! Not just an outhouse or a hole in the ground, but real bathrooms!. We were there for a bat Mitzi reception party at the Walnut Shelter and it was really lovely. There was plenty of parking, a well-kept volley ball court, and the covered area was clean and all the picnic tables seemed new. What a great space in Nashville!

This place is breathtaking! Such gorgeous views with all the red rock, palm trees, cacti, and lagoons. Perfect place to bring visitors to showcase the beauty of the valley. Plenty of ramadas for parties or just to stop and "smell the roses". Amazing views of downtown Phoenix and surrounding mountains. Great place to watch the planes take off and land. Beautiful at sunset, but very crowded especially at hole in the rock.
