I give the PET STORE & its employees a 5 star rating. They’re fantastic…the groomer however is horrible. *THIS REVIEW REGARDS THE GROOMING SALON ONLY: I have used this groomer twice. Both times I was extremely displeased by her lack of expertise. I thought the first time might have been an off day so I gave her another chance. She was asked to cut my dogs hair short, “a buzzcut, but not shaven” -she ended up using a #2 clipper on him… which I could have tolerated if she would have given him an EVEN haircut. All his hair is chopped and misshaped. Very uneven and sloppy. I called to discuss this with the woman, and she blamed her sloppy work on my dog, saying he’s so wiggly. Then she accused my wife of lying and telling her than she did not ask for a short haircut, then proceeded to argue with me about the difference between buzzed and shaven, because according to her, they are the same thing. However, a real groomer would know they are NOT the same thing at all! She also laughed at me and cockily asked me if I was groomer -then I informed her that my mother was a cosmetologist for many years before she died so I have more knowledge than the average person regarding hair. Also, my dog is 9 yrs old, I have had him to several different groomers when I lived in Tannersville, and they NEVER left his hair so uneven, never had a problem understanding the difference between buzzed but not shaven, AND they never had a problem with "shaving" his rectal area so he stays clean. He’s had his hair groomed at least 30-32 times in his life & never did he come back looking this way. Also, my wife was concerned for our dog because she heard the groomer loudly scolding a dog before she left. I will never bring my dog there again. This groomer is incompetent at her job and rude when trying to resolve a conflict… She told me if I wanted her to work on him again she would but in the future she needs to spend two hours on to get his hair even…. My dog weighs 7 lbs, it has never taken any groomer more than 45 minutes to an hour MAX to completely groom him. She did offer to redo his hair, but I refused to bring my dog back to her because quite frankly my trust was broken when she accused my wife of lying and I refuse to bring my dog back to someone who was so rude and arrogant. *REPLYING TO JENNIFER’S LIES You are an absolute LIAR. I cannot believe you have the nerve to lie about so many aspects of this ordeal! First of all, my wife did NOT give you a tip. That is an absolute lie. I did NOT at all become irate until you LAUGHED, condescended me AND RAISED YOUR VOICE, when all we were doing was disagreeing about buzz vs shaved! Yes, then I gave you attitude, just like I am now, because you’re LYING! Funny how you bring up charging more, yet I never listed that in my review…Yeah, that’s because you ABSOLUTELY told me you would have to charge me more money to do his hair! And you told me it would take 2 hours… for a SEVEN POUND DOG!!!! And stop insinuating my wife is a liar, because the only person here lying is YOU -you’re whole story is a complete fabrication. This is disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself.

The pet shop itself is great but the groomer should quit her job. My wife and I have had our dog groomed there on 2 different occasions and there wont be a 3rd. I read off of a text exactly what should be done for our dogs cut. As I waited for her to take him in I CLEARLY heard her scold the dog she was working on and didnt even want to leave her to care for our dog. I told my wife of this happening the last time I dropped him off as well and she decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. My wifes dog left with a choppy haircut which she didnt approve of so when I got home she called the groomer. My wife put her on speaker phone and the woman accused me of lying saying thats what I told her to do which I did NOT. Then she started giving my wife attitude saying if she wanted it done that way then she would have to pay more and it would take 2 hours to complete the job. Our dog is 7 pounds. We have a 150 lb newfoundland that takes 2 hours. Now on these reviews, the groomer is stating she didnt tell her she would charge her more and she did. Im sure the entire town of Bangor heard her when she said it because she was so loud. Dont fall for this womans lies. She also said I was so pleased that I left her a tip. She got no tip from me. Ive got a credit card statement to prove it. I wouldnt take a gerbil to her let alone my dog unless you want trouble. Shes even rude with her own mother who works at the check-in desk. Ive witnessed this on 2 different occasions. She says she treats all the pets well and always has an excuse for why someone would "lie about her" and yet were not the only ones to make the complaint about her scolding the dogs. So who is the real problem here? My suggestion is that Jennifer go get a job as an attorney where she can lie and keep her disgruntled demeanor and get away with it.

I cant thank Jen enough for her work with Zeke and Zelda. She does a great job with each of them. Zeldas hair has a rougher texture and clumps easily without constant maintenance. Not too mention, she has hairball issues from trying to groom herself. Jen gave her a lion cut and she is a whole new cat. I was originally hesitant to have it done for fear I was doing something hurtful but I can only say great things. Zelda is much more spry and energetic without all the extra weight and her fur stays much softer. She keeps up with the other, younger cats (when she sees fit). She really thinks she is all that with her new look. Zeke, our Boston Terrier, is generally an emotional creature, so no loud voices or even dirty looks in his direction without him needing a counselling session. He absolutely loves going over for his grooming appointments. He sits still for his nail trims and bathing without any problem. He always comes up looking and smelling super splashy with his fancy bandana. The staff at Washington Pet is always friendly and welcoming. They have a great selection of treats and toys. Its always great to be able to go to a local business and find what you need instead of a big box store. Thanks everyone.

Washington Pet is so convenient to us because they are right across the street from the grocery store and near Rite Aid and Dunkin Donuts. I have other things I can get done while Im waiting for the dogs to get groomed. My dogs love going to see Jen. Zoe has some issues with having her nails clipped but Jen is always good at calming her down. She loves her baths and her coat looks nice and shiny when shes done. Shes a shedder and loves to play in dirt so she has to go for her spa day more than some other dogs. Scrina is the old man so hes pretty easy but he likes to tug at his leash because he gets excited that hes getting a new bandana and a full body massage.
