Much has been written about the natural and recreational features of what many also call the Upper Delaware River Valley region of New York State and Pennsylvania. I would like to add that its cultural features are comparable. The two harmonize and make for a perfect visit for a day or two, a weekend, a week or two or an entire spring, summer or autumn. I invite you to go online and look up the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, in Narrowsburg, NY, the Catskill Art Society in Livingston Manor, NY, the Upfront Gallery in Port Jervis, NY, the North American Cultural Laboratory (NACL Theater) in Highland Lake, NY, the Margolis Brown Adaptors theater company in Highland Lake, NY, the Forestburg, NY, Playhouse...and so many more sites. These venues can also inform you about the hundreds of artists, artisans, poets, writers, dancers, musicians and theater artists living in all those hamlets and in all those woods and on all those hills.

Definitely check out the Delaware River. Its as beautiful being up by the Hawks Nest (just north of Port Jervis, NY--an Idyllic, homey, older port town) as it is if you hop in a raft with your life vest on and paddle your way through some minor rapids down the river (I did that on my birthday--10 mile river raft! Oh, Gawsh!) Drive north along the sides of the mountain up route 97 north, take in the sites and the sights, enjoy the mountain fresh air, and just sigh in peace.

The July foliage in NY is always spectacular and the Delware River valley is no exception. My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant 4 hour rafting excursion. That said, I recommend going when the water is up to avoid the getting stuck on the many rock outcroppings. Next time, well try the canoe or kayaks as they are probably a little faster. And if youre going in the summer months, dont forget your sunscreen and bug repellant!

This is our go-to camping spot. My sister has been hosting camping trips here for over 10 years now and every year gets better. We communicate well with the staff there and have pleasant experiences. Bring a good attitude anywhere and youll be sure to have a memorable time. The bathrooms are cleaner than you would expect at a camp ground. Id give it about a 6, on a scale from 1 to 10.

The Upper Delaware River and the surrounding areas provide a whole host of possible activities. The river runs faster here than it does further south which makes for some interesting whitewater. Campgrounds are plentiful as are hiking opportunities. The scenery is wonderful too!

I have been looking for a camping place.like this.for a LONG time, friendly staff, water rafting, paintballing and beautiful scenery CONs: some camp sites are too close to other people, No service or repception ( but hey its camping you shouldnt be on you phone anyway)

Scenery is beautiful; everywhere you go along this route you enjoy lots of forests, waterways, open blue skies, a n d occasionally youll see a deer in a field or near the road. Its truly magnificent.

We canoed down the river and stayed here overnight with a camp very nice people gorgeous scenery and its right near the Delaware river. Enjoyed staying here very nice they have everything you need.

If you are expecting a park kind of experience, you are in the wrong place. The area seems run down and there is no park kind of facilities around.
