I am writing to express my appreciation for the employees at the Showboat Theater in Lake Geneva, WI.. While watching the 11-18-15 Friday 7:25pm showing of “The Visit” a large group of children (9-12 year olds) along with at least one chaperon seated themselves in the center row, center. Understandably watching a horror movie, I would completely understand some jumps and screams, however, this groups felt inclined to scream at the top of their lungs at nearly every tense moment! The chaperon with them made no attempt to settle the children, and actually thought this behavior was funny. After asking them to stop they simply yelled back sarcastic comments and carried on screaming even more excessively and laughing! I could no longer stay in the theater, it was the worst theater experience I had ever had. My boyfriend and I informed the staff, and they immediately did everything they could to make it right. They sent along ushers into the theater to handle the group, and they completely understood our not wanting to return to the movie, so they gave us free passes for another time. We will definitely be back! P.S. The cleanliness of the bathrooms was fine, some times they smell but thats because theyre bathrooms, not bakeries.

- Very disrespectful workers (including managers) - Lack of movie (have to go to other movie theaters to watch the movies that, sadly showboat never has) At one point they didnt let me and my friends go and watch a movie after 7 if we didnt come with our parents. That day they informed us of that, me and my friend had to leave since we came alone. BUT... later found out they were letting other teens our age go and watch a movie without enforcing that "new" policy they had established. We also got many rude and mean stares from the workers when we sat at in the lobby waiting for out parents to pick us up and constantly were asked to see our tickets even when we we just in the lobby... At one point me and my friends got kicked out after sitting in the lobby waiting for our parents eating popcorn. They told us that if we werent purchasing anything or watching a movie then we had to leave. Yes, i admit most of my friends didnt buy anything after watching the movie but i didnt think we were require too.. So i, as my rating says, hated my experience at Showboat Theater.

Ive been going to showboat since I was a kid, always had fun. You dont realize until youre older how the place really is. Workers are always fantastic and helpful if you need anything. The food is great and they really take care of you. The "arcade" could use some updating but is fun if you wanna burn some time. My only complaint about the place is the actual theaters. Now, the picture quality has improved a lot and the sound is always great, however the seating is dreadful. Even with how young I am, sitting in those seats for a picture that is around 2 hours sucks. Unlike other reviews, I dont find that the place smells but I do agree with the seating. Lake Geneva has a standard of being this nice uptown place to visit but when you want to go see a movie and relax and PAY for it, this is rather disappointing. Again, its my complaint. Everything else to me is great, but the seats need to be modernized and improved so you can enjoy the experience.

I have never had a negative experience in this Theatre. I used to go as a kid because they had a TON of games to where you can win tickets and redeem for prizes. There was a few years in-between where the games were gone but as of now they are all back! The management are amazing for what is given to them and even though the seats arent recliner quality, you get what you pay for. The bathrooms arent horrible, the floors arent sticky, the chairs are not that bad to where your back gives out(people are dramatic). Plus, they recently updated the screen and surround sound quality so the experience is a lot better. Dont take this place for granted people! this is the only theatre in the area unless you want to drive to Burlington. We should be praising the fact that Lake Geneva still has this theatre to go too. If you have such a problem with it then dont go!

I see everyones crappy reviews about Showboat and I think they are full of it. Ill agree that back in the day this theater was at its prime and has declined a bit since then just like every movie theater pretty much. Over the years you see things come and go like the little bar that was upstairs that no one hardly used anyway. Every time I have had a problem with anything, the employees have always been nice, respectful, and prompt to fix it. The only complaint I really have is that things seem to be getting more and more expensive but that is true for every movie theater now a days. For the people who dont like Showboat then dont go but you know as well as I do these people that complain are still attending!

Plenty of seats to choose from. Not crowded. Prices were perfect. I enjoyed the buttered popcorn, with the free refills . You get free refills with your soda, too.Went to the last show. Plenty of parking places to choose from. Will go again, maybe even on a Wednesday; its $5.00 a show. Just thought Id put that out there. Thank You Showboat, for a wonderful night , we had a blast...... ;) Sincerely, Pleased......

My adult son and I have been really enjoying going to the movies this summer! Every other week something we want to see is coming out in 3D:-} Sometimes we even bring his wife and our friends with us. This weekend was the last time well be spending our money at the Showboat. The new theater on Hwy. 36, Showtime, will now become our place to meet. Never out of drinks, seats that recline (great for the 2 1/2 hour shows) and a discount if you save and bring in your 3D glasses from a previous show:-} Maybe if less folks show up, Showboat will begin to make the changes needed.

An enjoyable small town theater. Im not sure what all the fuss is about, Im from Chicago so maybe others just had a presumption going in but I had an awesome time here. I was concerned after reading all the negative comments but after going in to pre purchase tickets, I was sold. Its a very large area, the main room is filled with arcade machines, tables, a pool table and air hockey... How can you go wrong with that? The prices were reasonable and there was free refills on drinks and popcorn! The theaters themselves were roomy and quaint, no complaints at all here.
