I have always loved Westport winery. It was one of the first wineries I visited after turning 21 and weve been wine club members for 5 years. I usually have my club wines shipped to me but when we have time we drive to the coast to pick up our wines, have lunch at the winery and spend the day at the beach with our dog. The service in the past was always decent but this time the service in the restaurant was unbelievably bad. Most of the tables were full when we arrived but we were seated immediately. Our server greeted us and the service was okay at first, but after our entrees came she was almost nonexistent. We finished our entrees and waited for her to come by so I could get a box. After 15 minutes, she came to collect our plates and offered to box up my quiche for me, and we ordered dessert. She brought the dessert pretty quickly and I was so distracted I didnt realize that she hadnt brought my to-go box. We finished the dessert and waited for her to return with the check. The restaurant wasnt packed and she came several times to check on another table nearby but ignored us. We are not the type of people to flag down a server so we subtly prepared to leave. We stacked our plates, my husband put his credit card on the edge of the table and I put on my jacket. After at least 20 minutes, we finally went up to the bar to ask to pay and ask for my to-go box and no one even apologized that we werent helped at the table. Our server ran our card and found my box which she had forgotten about on the bar, and we were finally able to head over to the tasting counter to pick up our wines. I didnt even get a chance to taste any wines because we needed to return to our poor pooch who was stuck in the car for what had turned into a 2 hour lunch. Im not sure if there was a staffing issue today but we heard other tables around us complaining about the food coming out slowly too, so we werent the only ones with an issue. And the girls working didnt seem rushed or hurried at all, which made it even more bizarre. The one highlight was the food. I had the country quiche and my husband had the shut the front door burger and both were delicious. However, with that kind of service we probably wont be back to the restaurant and Im not sure if I want to keep my wine club membership.

We came here to taste some wines not knowing there was a restaurant. The person who was with us for the wine tasting was very nice and helpful. After finding out we were just exploring the area for a short time, she gave us a few very useful maps and recommendations on where to visit next. We picked up a few bottles of wine as they were quite nice. Proceeding to the restaurant, it took a little time to be seated, it was quite empty and there only seemed to be one waiter. After we ordered it did take a while before our food arrived but it was quite a relaxed atmosphere so we didnt mind. Our food arrived and I ordered their shroom steak, which was supposed to be a steak with mushrooms and a glaze/sauce on top with a side of clam chowder. The chowder had an odd clear yellow liquid under the top layer of the soup - I mixed it all in as my expectations for the restaurant started to drop... Microwaved soup or it sat too long before service. Either way the soup was still quite bland but gladly not fishy at all. My steak I ordered medium rare but came out well done, not quite a brick though. It had the taste of a dirty grill, burned but didnt look burned. You could see the flecks of burned matter all over it. The sauce was over salted, and otherwise tasted like the burned steak. My husband ordered an open face sandwich with fries. The sandwich was fine, not quite broiled like it was described but fine. His fries were obviously ones that had been either cooked, cooled and then barely heated up or just cooked and let sit until they were grainy and soggy and then dressed with some parmesan. They werent even refried again, shocking. Overall I would go there for the wines and the atmosphere of the garden but never the restaurant.

Ive been to quite a few vineyards in my time and though each of them have their own beauty - there isnt quite anything that comes close to Westport Winery. The location alone is far out from your typical vineyards, pair that along side a huge garden that boasts beautiful plants, unique artwork, a bocce ball area, over sized chess, and even a little area for dogs to run around off leash, its more like a mini vacation spot, less a place to sleep. Inside the eclectic shop you will find a big bar area where you can taste all the wines WW&V offers. The owner is a hilariously witty guy that take his time and makes recommendations based upon what you like and not what hes trying to sell. My last visit here the atmosphere was lively and fun, everyone was having a good time. My fiancee even got to jump in a barrel and smash some wine with her feet! Good times with good people made it an awesome first impression. Next time Im out there I really want to try out their farm to table restaurant which was connected in the same building.

We LOVE Westport Winery. This family own and run business keeps getting better and better. The wines are fantastic - I am a big fan of the Dawn Patrol Raspberry Riesling, Pineapple Express Riesling and Peaches on the Beaches. They put a lot of heart and soul into the place, from the the garden improvements to the upgraded tasting room. Their philanthropic contributions are also amazing - a portion of each sale of wine goes to a local charity or nonprofit, and each is clearly stated next to the corresponding wine. Our dogs love being able to come hang out in their off-leash dog area while we enjoy our wines. Even though we live in Tacoma and dont get to make it out to Westport as often as wed like, when we order online, the service is prompt and if there is ever an issue, they handle it quickly and are great with communication.

Well, I never had been here before and, for some reason when we went there to eat dinner for the 1st time, the people working in the dining area seemed to be more concerned about the people outside eating and ordering drinks? sat there for about 20 min before anyone noticed we were there after being seated, though they were constantly walking by use. ordered a beer, not really keen on there beer couldnt drink it all. finally the waitress came over took our order, took about another 30 minutes to get it by then i was very unhappy and wanted to leave. I went there to have a nice dinner and i was nothing but upset by the time i left. wont eat there again. so that is my opinion. good luck maybe it will be better for you. Oh the food was good though but not much on the menu

Tasted 12 wines, many of them claimed to be award winning - tastings included a chardonnay, 2 cabs, and many blends. Taste of each was "odd and off". We purchased 3 bottles anyway (the chard and 2 cabs), to avoid the tasting fee and in hopes that our Riedel glasses would improve the nose and taste - nope. These wines are hardly amazing. All were highly acidic, mostly alcoholly, with very little boquet. Nothing left on the tongue to be savored. Bleh. Staff were a bit young, and were unable to tell us anything specific about any of the wines. They were friendly however. Atmosphere was nice, they had a little store and a large banquet area - I can see how many nice wine tastings could happen there.
