So how do you start a review like this? On May 15th we had a birthday party planned there and when we showed up, our reservation was forgotten. That stunk a lot. We were really hoping to have a good time. Luckily there were other wineries around. We left Tarara with a bitter taste in our mouths. I complained to the management and we got some of our money back, but over all, I was unhappy. I figured that was that and we just wouldnt go there again. A week after our visit, I get a call from Tarara. Katie, the woman who contacted me, called to inform me that they were sorry we had a bad time and didnt want our mental state to stay that way. She offered us a premiere tasting, which was way nicer than what we originally paid for, and a refund of our tasting fees. We get to Tarara and get taken to a private room. The head wine maker, Jordan, Gave us a walk through of all the wines Tarara has to offer. And Jordan certainly knows his craft. Not only did he answer all of our questions, but you get a real sense that his contagious passion is what makes Tarara a luxury wine. After our tasting, he took us on a private tour of the winery and we got to see where the barrels were kept. He even showed us some of the machines. I dont know if this was planned or not, but after the tour I told him that he really made up for our bad visit last time. He said he didnt know about that, but was glad to make it up and even sweetened the deal with a free bottle or two. Im really glad that they went that extra mile to turn my bad experience into the best tasting Ive ever been too. I bet it was even better than your best tasting too! The reason Im glad is because not only did we get a great experience, their wine is incredible. Jordan certainly takes the time to find the right grapes to ensure quality over quantity. I can see Tarara becoming the flagship of Virginia wines.

The staff of Tarara Winery provided us first-class customer service during a recent visit to their establishment. We were there as part of a tour of Loudoun County wineries, and Tarara was the stop at which lunch was served. There was a mixup regarding the food order I placed when I signed up for the tour (I am a vegetarian), and they didnt have the option I selected. Instead of giving me a version of what I ordered with the meat picked out, they offered me a delicious cheese plate. That alone would have been more than enough food for me, but the staff felt bad enough about the confusion that they also prepared me a tasty cheese sandwich. The upside of that was that I was able to pass the cheese plate around to the rest of our group, and everyone got to enjoy a nice extra snack with the wine. It was a small gesture on the part of Tarara Winerys staff, but it made me feel like they valued my presence there and wanted me to have as good an experience as possible. Thank you again to them for such great customer service!

Beautiful Setting! Good wine - favorites were the Longbomb and the Cabernet Franc. After having been to a few wineries in Napa Valley and in Washington state, I thought $10 for a tasting of 7 wines was really reasonable. I think they could do a better job facilitating their tastings though. A greeter? Or a host/hostess to direct traffic? It wasnt terribly busy during our visit, so they werent selling "tasting tickets," but busy enough that there was a line at the entrance. It took us (and several other couples) several minutes of waiting in line to discover that the line was for wine purchases and not the tastings. So we stepped out of line and just had to kind of stand around and wait for a place at the bar to open up. Our server was very friendly, but fairly new and didnt have a lot of knowledge about the wines yet. Will definitely go back to explore the grounds a little more and try their premier tasting.

Went to this winery last weekend and loved the wines. I highly recommend the tasting (Merlot is something special). Then buy a bottle and some cheese and sit on their deck and enjoy the view. Be aware this winery is a bit pricey though (10.50 per person for tasting and wines between $22-$50/bottle). They do offer a wine club which is very reasonable for people in the area along with concerts from time to time. My only real complaint was that some aspects of the winery were very commercial such as no crackers to cleanse pallet between wine (you can buy them in there shop at 2x store price) and an assembly line approach to wine tasting. Wines - 5 stars Customer Service 3 stars Other - 4.5 stars

Tarara has quickly become one of my favorite wineries in the area. I had missed it the first time I visited the local "wine loop" in that area because it was a little bit further away. Oh how I wish my friends and I had gone that day! The grounds of the winery are gorgeous as is the view from the front. All of the staff here are knowledgeable about wines and are super friendly. They even remember you when you stop in! I lean towards red wines these days and can definitely say that Clements Resistance was a standout from the tasting this past weekend. Im also looking forward to the return of their port wine (Whities D9) in the fall!

My wife and I go out to wine country to get away from the city and the crowds. The massive packed parking lot was a bad sign as we drove in. And when we saw there was a line of 15 people just waiting to get a "tasting ticket" we said forget it. We much prefer intimate wineries where you can belly up to the counter and get served immediately. This place seemed like the disneyworld of vineyards, so we gave it a pass. Our loss, maybe, but there were other quieter, smaller, more pleasant wineries just a short drive down the road that we were pleased to visit.

I like the venue for the music festivals, what I dont like about it is there is an unreasonable mark-up on wine purchased in the venue. $15.00 wine at the winery (just outside of the venue) is $25.00 at the wine station in the venue. The people that sell the wine are volunteers ,so why is there a $10.00 difference.I have been to a lot of wine festivals and the wine prices are always the same in the concert festivals or not. After you pay $34.70 for 2 on-line which is cheaper than at the gate you should not be over-priced for the wine.

We took a relaxing drive out to Tarara from DC to enjoy the countryside. We arrived about 2pm on a Saturday, waited in line for the tasting tickets then walked up to the tasting bar and waited 15 minutes for someone to come over to help, this was only after we walked up and interrupted a server. There were two servers for almost 25 tasters. The wait between pours was ridiculous. Since they sell tickets they should have a good idea of how many people are tasting, we would have had a better experience. Its now $10 a tasting.
