Sooo overpriced for the conditions. Took my girlfriend here on a Tuesday night in August 2011 figuring that we would have the course to ourselves (shes a beginner). This course, like its sister course South Riding, is BEYOND over-rated. HORRIBLE conditions AGAIN. Played this course 5 years ago and thought the same thing so kudos to them for maintaining consistency. Many of the fairways had deep ruts from golf cart tires and the rough was clumpy like a high school football field. Although they had punched the greens a few weeks prior, good luck finding a green that wasnt pock marked with dozens of ball divots. I understand that divot repair is on the players but I play enough courses in the area and they dont seem to suffer the same problem. Fringes around the green were horrible as well, as if they just cut into the fairway/rough around the greens and said "Good enough". Pro-shop selection sucks as does the food in the snackbar. All this for $45 (9 hole rate)...which is $4 less than their twilight rate of $49, both of which are overpriced considering it was 6pm on a Tuesday night. Compared to other twilight rates in the area like Bristow ($19), Reston National ($29), Brambleton ($21.50) or even Westfields ($59). Pleasant Valley, South Riding and Virginia Oaks are all wannabe courses..and feel that by charging top tier rates of $98 for weekend 18 hole rounds, youll just accept it. My advice? Drop another $10 and go play a REAL golf club like Westfields ($109), Raspberry Falls ($105) or Stonewall ($119). Better MAINTAINED courses, better facilities, better clubhouses, better everything. How Pleasant Valley was awarded 4.5 stars is on par with Whiskey Petes being voted Best Buffet in Vegas. Youre left wondering, "Who the hell is doing the voting?" Wake up PV. Want to charge Big Boy rates? Better have Big Boy maintenance. P.S. Best Value courses in the area are Bristow Manor or Laurel Hills.

If you have read any reviews of the course, they are fairly accurrate about the condition of the course. Granted we had short term heavy rain, but this course doesnt drain well. Aside from the drainage problem, they have a pretty close to 6 or 7 deplorable tee boxes. I specifically mean that the grass is TORE UP or non existent. If there is grass on these boxes, its weed crab grass in patches. The other bad boxes are covered in seed sand. So here is where I am going with this. I got an $88 online tee time. I live in Fairfax. I habe the choice of about 10 courses within 30 min of me. How about some good customer service and say something like, the course has a lot of water and we need to keep the carts on the path at all times. The tee boxes arent in great shape, but we are going to give you 15 bucks off today... Would $75 be bad to the course? If no one is on the course, nothing is made. If someone is on there and doesnt feel like the got ripped off they may come back. The course with minimal work could be an excellent course. Right now its a place I would go to if they had a great deal at the time I wanted to play, maybe. I have a picture, but dont know how to post it.

We are very disappointed in the customer service at Pleasant Valley. We had a gift certificate from an auction for Virginia Tech which had to be used by December 31. Since there probably wont be too many good days between now and December we called and got a tee time for today. Our certificate was for a foursome but had to be used after 2 pm. Due to daylight saving time it would be impossible to play 18 if we started at 2. We asked if we could have the 1:30 tee time. They absolutely refused to give a half hour grace period. We did have to pay cart fees which were $20 for each person! Most of the area courses charge $12 a person. The course was so busy we didnt get off until 2:30 and it was very slow (no marshalls and cart path only) We only played 9 holes because carts had to be returned at 5. We wanted to use the restrooms before leaving the course but the clubhouse was locked up. The pro shop staff was still inside but would not allow us to enter. Needless to say we will not return.

Read this before you buy a Players Pass from them!!!!! I bought a Players Pass last year because I was promised by the sales associate that I can use the driving range anytime in the week except for Tuesday morning. Only after I purchased the pass that I found out that 1) I can only get maximum of two buckets of balls per day 2) If there is a little rain the day before they close the range for two consecutive days 3) It turns out that the driving range was closed to ME 90% of the time. One incident when I came to use the range they told me that the range was closed, so I went to the range to check and saw a few patrons using the range, when I came back to complain they said that it is open for paying members not for Players Pass members. I couldnt help but noticed that the patrons on the range were Caucasians and I am Asian. I hope that they are not discriminating. Customer service is horrible!!! I will never play there again. Beware!!!!

I work near the course and was looking to play a lot during the week after work and gave the pleasant valley membership a look. I ask about the course availability and the membership Manager (mike Maloney) assured us that the course was rarely booked for group outings during the week and wasnt that crowded which is when I wanted to play. Quite the contrary...easily 3 times a week the course was unavailable until 6 due to group outings. A total waste for $257/month. I felt l got screwed by a used car salesman trying to just get a lemon off the lot and make a sale. Now the course itself is nice and in good shape. My year ends this month and sent a request to cancel my membership to rid myself of this mistake and to make matters worse, they overcharged me by 1 month dues and trying to get that sorted out as we speak. If youre looking to become a member of this course...stay away. The course is nice....if you can get on it.

The layout on the front 9 isnt great and hole number 3 is down right penal and dumb. The bunkers were plastered with new sand so this addresses B and seasonedthinker, its actually nice and soft. The pace is awful on the front 9 because of two holes: 7th and 9th. 7th is understandable because of water but the 9th.....please lengthen the hole and make it so that people dont foolishly wait to drive the hole. The greens are aerated???? and there are tons of divot marks which is unfortunate and not the course mgmts fault. This course has potential but needs work.

Have played this course quite a bit over the past few years. The Players Pass is a great deal even after the included rounds. I really enjoy it. But like Joe, I am beyond frustration with the bunkers. They have gotten worse over the years -- much worse -- to the point that few are playable unless youre up on the face. Otherwise they are either mud or hard packed sand -- packed by the tires of the grounds keeping equipment. I would rate it at least 3, probably 4 stars but with the worsening condition of the bunkers, I think 2 is generous.
