I have been practicing and playing at this track for years, but it has gotten worse every time. What started off as a premier daily-fee track became sub par and has even made the owners decide to close it in 2020. With that being said, the course isnt in bad condition. The greens are spotty and the fairways are typically either very dry or very wet, rarely an in between, but it is a very interesting and challenging design. It stretches to about 6,850 from the tips and it features several water hazards and tree lined tee shots. It might be the most difficult public course in the Richmond area. Overall, I wouldnt call Hunting Hawk elite anymore, it still has a good name for itself in the Richmond golfing world.

Golf course has made it through this hot summer pretty well. Better than some of the others we have played in the RVA. The greens had some spots in them from unfixed ball marks I guess from people not fixing their divots. Pro shop was well stocked and staff was great to work with. Range balls are priced a little high but I guess with the grass tees at the range it is what it is. Overall a good experience. We will definitely be back soon, always a fun course to play.

Course is a fun layout that is not too punishing. Plenty of traps and hazards with some good risk / reward decisions on medium par 5s. I play here about 4 times a year, but only when we have to, due to crowds at other courses. This course never seems to be too crowded, and likely because the greens are usually pockmarked, but soft. and rough can be spotty and hard. Overall a good experience, albeit some weaknesses in course maintenance.

I played this course mid and late season in 2009, as well as early season 2010 and Im not sure if the course superintendent knows what sprinklers, fertilizer and grass seed are....Brown dirt everywhere. The first time I played, again, mid-season, I had to have people direct me where to hit the ball, as the fairways and rough were totally brown. Save your 70 bucks and play elsewhere. Just an absolutely miserable experience all three times.

This is an above average public course near Short Pump that you can play for around $50 on the weekend. Theres nothing overly special about it, but it is a nice track with some interesting holes. The greens are well maintained bent grass. The clubhouse offers a decent selection of golf apparel and accessories. There is a modestly stocked bar and food menu. The practice facilities are not robust and range balls are $7.

i set out to play every golf course in the richmond/ fredericksburg area, and so far this has been the most fun and well kept golf course so far,and ive played 10 already.the golf course was impecable ,the layout had so many different looks in every hole, the rough was well manicured and the wispy stuff made the golf course look amazing.im writing this on the 23 july 2013. oh and the price was perfect.

I will not being going back to this course anymore this year. The greens were full of divots. Fairways were spotted with dead grass, looked awful. I dont know if they are just not putting much more money into it because they will be shutting down some time in the near future or what. There are several other courses in the Richmond area better than this one for the price!!

Course layout is intriguing but a very poorly trained and experience staff. Conditions are average. Dont come for any level of decent service. The only time you will see the staff is to pull you off the course for an overly protective superintendents desires. Having spent 7 years in golf course management its no surprise the course is losing popularity and desire.

Course conditions fluctuate. Far too expensive. Has a few "Mickey Mouse" holes where trees or tree limbs block part of the green. Not ideal for walkers. They layout is adequate as is the use of the natural terrain and landscape. If it cost $20 less, Id add an extra star to my review. New Golf director Mr. Staten is a boon for this golf course.

The course, the practice range and putting greens are deteriorating quickly. The manager and the staff are rude.

Golf course isnt too demanding but its longer than most in the area. Good mix of risk/reward holes.
