If I were to base this review solely on the course itself, I would rate it 5 stars. The course was beautiful and greatly maintained with a lovely layout. The course is not located within a housing community which is a plus in my opinion. I have played golf around the Houston area for over 5 years now and this was my first time playing Cypresswood. I must say that I wish I had played here sooner. As far a scenery, layout and holes that leave a lasting memory, this ranks right up there if not better than courses like Blackhorse South, Highmeadow Ranch, and even River Ridge outside of Katy. The one negative I could find, is that it seems as if the course doesnt drain well. The area was hit with a moderate a downpour in the early morning of our tee time. It wasnt the type of torrential rain that you would expect to leave a course with such muddy and wet conditions. lots of sitting water. Unfortunately this review is also about the experience, hence the 2 star rating I gave it. As i stated above, the area was hit by rain so the course was cart path only, which wasnt an issue and comes with the territory. Not only that, it was a Wednesday (12-30-2015) morning and we were just a twosome, so how bad could it be? Thats when things turned for the worse. We were greeted at the 1st tee by the starter and he proceeds to tell us "there is a 10some ahead of you guys, split into 2 groups. They play pretty fast but if you catch up to them they will let you go by". Ive seen courses book 5somes before but it struck me as odd when we were told they were teed off back to back, especially on a cart path only day. Needless to say we caught up to this group at the second tee box, and proceeded to wait 5-10 minutes for every shot we took from tee to green for the next 4 holes. Not once did these guys consider waiving us through. They played as if they had blinders on or like we were invincible to them. Frustration started to set in for us as we sat there and watched time pass and each guy walk to their balls from the cart path for every shot on this wet day. When we got to the 6th tee box, both 5somes were on the same hole. Well, since they werent showing any kind of golf etiquette in waving us through, we made the executive decision to past both groups up and proceed to the 7th hole which was a par 5. As we prepare to walk up to the tee box, the second 5some comes rolling up and one of the golfers says with a sour attitude "NO, NO, NO!! There is a group in front of us, its not like you are going anywhere." This guy was obviously a moron because the group in front was on the green, ON A PAR 5!! Our jumping ahead would not have slowed a 10some down at that point. Some of the other group members proceeded to talk trash, as my partner and I started to tee off, saying stupidities like "oh these are real golfers here, oh look, playing from the back tees". We were playing from the mens tees mind you, not the championship tees. My partner and I, being the competent golfers that we are, proceeded to hit straight tee shots on to the fairways regardless of the crap attitude and trash talk. Later in the round we caught up to the 3some that was ahead of us, and without hestitation, showing a stark contrast in class and etiquette, waived us through. We finished our round in a little over 4 hours. Had we stayed behind the classless, jean wearing crew, we would have played a 5 hour round as a twosome. We showed lots of restraint in not doing more to the classless rat pack. They are most likely members or frequent golfers there since the starter referred to that 10some by name "the such and such group". Wish I remembered the name, but one of the players was a younger female golfer. My issue is not so much with the rag tag etiquette challenged bunch, cause you will run into jerks like this if you play long enough. It is more so with the management. Allowing 2 5somes back to back, on a cart path only day is ridiculous, on top of no marshals policing pace of play. A beautiful course and day ruined by non-sense!

4.5 Stars overall. Played the Cypress Course in June 2017. My impressions are... Course: 5 out of 5. For the money you pay (under $50-category on a Saturday morning), its hard to find a better kept course in metro-Houston. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in tremendous shape. There were some bunkers that needed sand replaced, but thats a small complaint and an easy fix. Great mix of long par-5, with short and mid-length par 3s and 4s. There are birdie opportunities out there, but also enough trees and water to grab your attention and penalize you for any mistakes. Greens rolled true! Practice Range: 3 out of 5. I thought the driving range area was on the smaller side and could use better distance signage and turf. While available at the Traditions Course, there is no available short game area (bunkers, pitching, etc.) for Cypress course patrons. Putting Green: 5 out 5. Same greens AND speed you see on the course, which is rare for some public and municipal courses. And they have mini-holes on the green to work on centering/aligning putts, which was a first for me. Clubhouse Restrooms: 2.5 out 5. Looks like a public restroom. Nothing special...at all. Could use some freshening up here. 19th hole (Restaurant): 2.5 out 5. Food was okay, nothing good or great. This could have AND should have been better for the lunch prices that were charged. Staff: 5 out 5. Very Friendly and helpful! Pace of Play: 4.5 out 5. Played a Saturday morning round in 4h 15 mins. Pretty good!

After visiting Cypresswood Golf Club with my husband and 3 children, youngest being 20 yrs this morning. I will never return. We paid our money to play a round of golf only to be met with a member of staff Named Richard, a very rude, arrogant and critical elder man.. He criticized 2 of my children for sharing clubs! What on earth that has to do with him, pray tell. This is something that they were considering taking up. So in future we will be visiting our local golf course, Raveneaux Country Club. After all you pay your money you take your choice. Clearly Cypress Golf Club are only interested in their members! Would i recommend Cypresswood!! NEVER.

Played both the Tradition and Cypress Courses. Both were nicely kept and well conditioned. Greens were smooth and rolled very nice. Both golf courses are cut into the native forest of North Houston. No homesites on any golf holes! Both golf courses are very picturesque and enjoyable to play. Golf Carts were new and loaded with ammenities which included ball and club washer, windshields, and rain cover for golf clubs. Rates were very affordable and staff was very friendly and helpful. Conveniently located on North Side of Bush Intercontinental Airport off of FM1960 and Cypresswood Drive. Best golf experience I had in the Houston area. Highly recommend.
