Its a little too lonely for me but I went early (7:30am) to walk my dog. We went four days this week, the first day was Labor day so it was the busiest. I parked at the dog park lot and scoped out the trails. The second day I walked around the large field nearby. I didnt feel lonely that day because there was a cross country team running around with us. Also, I took my dog into the dog park for a few minutes and there were a few people and several dogs there. The third day I walked a trail that started at the dog park area and crossed under the road. We only saw one or two bicycles that morning so that visit was a little creepy. The next day I stuck to the large field near the dog park area. We went around two times in an hour. Even though we didnt see more than a couple of bicyclists, the field is adjacent to two parking areas, one is pretty busy. I didnt feel so isolated on the trails around the field and we went through a wooded area on the trail that was short but nice. There are a mix of paved trails and paths--bicyclists tended to stay on the paved trails but we saw bike tracks in the paths too. We (my dog and I) enjoyed our time here and Id recommend it to someone looking for a good park in the airport area. The dog park is small but nice and there is a separate area for small dogs

Fantastic park where I can take my two cattle dogs. We are new to the area, and this was a refreshing find within such a large city. A caution for dog owners on the more remote trails; we have had several run-ins, (early hours 6am-7am) with a pack of coyotes who apparently live in/close to the park boundaries. My male dog has been chased, and weve had coyotes running along-side about 15 yards off in the brush. My dogs are larger and more able to fend off a potential encounter, but a small-dog owner should keep their head on a swivel. Ive not seen anything overtly aggressive, but coyotes are wild animals, (not scruffy dogs) and should be cautiously respected in a close setting.

Many well-maintained trails of varying distances and level of difficulty. Several of the trails are completely shaded, which is nice in the Texas heat. Playground and fitness equipment is in good working order. We mainly use the dog park. There is a small shaded small dog section and a larger section for all dogs. The larger section has both shady and sunny areas. There are several benches and picnic tables. There is a paved path around the perimeter of the fence and the rest of the area is mulched. There are trash cans and poop bags provided and, for the most part, people pick up after their pets. There are water fountains for dogs and people.

I Come Here Often To Run And Its Always A Calm And Stress Free Place. Occasionally Youll See Deer, Raccoons, Or Rabbits. Long Trails That Seemingly Have No End, And Relaxing Greenery Every Where. I Recommend Avoiding The Trails After Dark Though. The Park takes on a strange and Intense Negative feel as though you were inside a structure (Yet You Are Clearly outdoors), Every Trail Seems To lead A Dead End (even ones you just came from) and For some reason my 4 flashlights seemed to have no effect on showing whats ahead whilst still shining brightly which defies my explanation. As Long as the Sun Is Up, Youre In Luck.

Ive been coming to McAllister Park since I was a little kid. My brother played little league here. Its a good park! McAllister is huge. They have several miles of walking/biking trails, more than enough playgrounds, sports fields galore, and a dog park. Were primarily there for the dog park, nowadays, but the rest of the park is very well cared for. There are gazebos for rent, places to camp and barbecue, and plenty of space to play. The dog park gets regular cleanings and is well maintained. The folks there are, for the most part, friendly and easy-going. Check out McAllister, theyre a decent park.

This is one of the best parks in the city. Maybe my experiences are the exception, but its nice to have a walk and have friendly people passing by say "Good morning!" Its not like that everywhere in town. The bike trails are easy for a novice, and the paved trails are great for taking the baby out for a little stroll. I enjoy that theyve constructed the trails in a way to showcase the natural beauty of the inner forest-y areas, instead of trying to develop more of those spaces into trails or blacktops.

I like this place its big enough for mw to take my aunts five dogs and my 2. They love it. There are always tennis balls on the ground and lots of room to run around. Ive never had a problem with other dog. But there are people who dont either walk there dogs before arriving or just dont have control over their dogs. Make sure you scout out the dog before you go in cause there can be aggressive dog. My only problem is theres not enough grass. Its covered in mulch. Otherwise its great.

Plenty of off-pavement trails-- enough to run a 50K race called the Prickly Pear, and since its in my backyard, I can truthfully say there are more trails than that to run or walk. There are also plenty of shaded, paved trails for the less adventurous. Nice dog park, but I take mine to hit the trails. Has a couple of nice playgrounds & some "fitness stations". Too many soccer & baseball fields for my taste, but the City might not damage the park further with more.

Great park with many opportunities for all kinds of outdoor activities. Great single track trails for biking and trail running. Awesome paved trails that are well shaded. Two play structure areas for the kids to play on. Several pavilions for family gatherings and grilling. Connected to larger park system along Salado Creek Greenway for longer bike rides and those long runs we all love. Oh, and a large open field by the dog park for kite flying.

This is a great park with a wide variety of facilities and attractions for the whole family. Theres a dog park, several playgrounds, pavilions, picnic tables, and numerous trails for both hiking and biking. The only downside of the park is that there is an enormous amount of trash littering the ground in the more remote areas. The decay and rust on some of the garbage makes it look like certain places havent been cleaned in years.

Large park that helps you escape the city feeling despite its location. Great mountain biking trails, some fairly technical. Nice paved walking/biking trails as well. Great for grilling and picnics. Has a couple of playgrounds, one with some exercise equipment for the big kids. Also a nice entry to the Salado Creek bike route which is very well maintained and goes on for miles connecting to other parks in town.

For the most part the rangers do their best to keep the park nice. its the community who needs to do better at not littering...watching their children, and not being general jerks. Two play grounds, soccer fields, baseball diamonds... few hiking/biking trails. Also watch out for bicyclist who are entitled and feel they own the park. No hand signs, biking in the middle of the street. Ect...
