First time playing here and it was good fun. We were paired with another twosome that played the course before - so that helped a lot. The greens were really fast and it took a few holes to adjust to the speed. Got an eagle on the short par 5 with a long 20 foot putt - so I did adjust well!! We will be back again, The itsy bitsy negatives: a) We were in a cart and were paired with a couple of players who were walking. So, while the speed of play suffered a bit, although we enjoyed the company. Yes, you can walk, rent a push cart or an electric cart at this course. b) The cart does not have a GPS - I had my GPS watch so it was not an issue. c) No drinks cart - get your drinks at the turn and/or when you start. d) The holes were a little too close and an erratic shot could easily hit someone on the next fairway. I had my cart plastic windshield up the whole time and one of the group members had a ball whiz by - too close for comfort. e) I wish the fairways had the 150 yard marker pole. Sometimes it was difficult to see which direction was the center of the fairway. All in all, for the price and value, it was a good experience.

I would like to start out by saying this is a decent course that has mostly friendly staff, but John R. Reference # 52643 is a mean old man. I arrived at Sharpstown at around one and John rang me up to play, when I began playing I asked the starter is it cart path only? He said No. So I play a decent 18 holes and on the last hole it is dark by now around 6:05. John walks up to me. He yells in my face asking me if I have ever played golf before and why is my Golf cart parked where it is. I apologize for being so close to the green and that I will move it, He responds with dont act so surprised. As I apologize again and am willing to excuse his attitude he walks off mumbling "The whole thing is the green, Idiot." I am shocked that anyone would employ someone that is so disrespectful to customers. I will not be returning to sharpstown since paying the 3 or 4 extra dollars to play at Memorial is worth not getting in a confrontation with this dick, John. Plus that course has a driving range to practice on.

This is a good Muni course. I just played it last weekend. Right now (Aug 2013) they are doing a lot of construction, so the greens are actually 50 yards ahead in the fairway as they prep the actual greens. I see dirt mounds around as they prep sand traps and such. For a muni, the course is in good enough shape. not much trouble, unless you slice or hook, and even then for most holes, you will just have to play from another hole. The course is pretty cheal too...$16 walking, and $22 riding if I remember it correct. I also like the fact that you can just play with others who are on the course if you dont already have a 4-some. there is a batting cage-like driving area as well for $4...cant see your ball go long, but you can get the feel of ball striking if you are so inclined.

Today I left the iphone in the cart; As I was putting my clubs in my car an young employee drove up and asked if this was my cart, #55. I said yes. He says is this your scorecard, I say yes. He says is his your cell phone? YES! I tried to give him some money for returning it but he kept saying no, we cant take tips, Whats up with that? Anyways, thank you young man for your honesty and smart thinking. Course was in great shape, greens smooth and lightning fast. Seniors get a free cart on Friday before 10.

Pretty good course if you can get on during the week. It gets pretty slow on weekends and isnt worth paying full price IMO. But ~$20 for 18 holes after work cant be beat. The rough isnt very well manicured (lots of hard, dead spots under all the trees) but the tees, fairways and especially the greens are all well kept.

I golf here more than any course since my first round played July 3, 2015. I like the course and most of staff are friendly and helpful. Green fees are the best value in Houston. Some time the rounds go slow due to players stacking up, but golfers normally kind. Ive met good people at Sharpstown golf course.

played there last friday. was very impressed by how well kept the course was. i had heard that it was in the ghetto and that you should pack heat when you play here, but it seemed fine to me.

Very good muni course. My only complaint was the a-hole starter. He was super rude and made starting the round a pain but once we got going, the course played beautifully
