The course has always been a reasonable price. My rating is based off a recent outing at heron lakes. The advertised e-special didn't register when booking online so I called and booked my tee time and was told the e-special would be honored. Went to check in and they couldn't find my name as booked. They were nice enough to get my twosome in but I had to talk them into the e-special because "I didn't book online." After getting that sorted out we started to play. The greens are poorly maintained and it looks like some grass is being replaced along the fairways and rough. This makes for some extra hazards on some holes. For the price it's to be expected so I can look past the conditions for the most part. After my round I told my friend that it would probably be the last time I played here because to be honest the conditions don't help me practice my game at all. The icing on the cake was that a guy came up to us, a manager or owner, and told us "you know you have to check in to play here!" if his tone was better or he asked a different way I wouldn't be upset. I told him we did check in and pulled my receipt and showed it to him. Dated for today and says heron lakes on it. He looked at it and said "oh, looks like you did. The girl inside said you didn't. Must because she's pregnant." Expecting people at a golf course to be professional I would have thought he would apologize instead of just turn and walk away. That sealed the deal for me not coming back here. I wouldn't recommend the course to anyone that I know. I would rather pay more and have a better day.

Quite possibly the worst course Ive ever played. No signs or directional hints anywhere on the course. Terrible, I repeat, TERRIBLE maintenance/facilities/course condition. The regulars I played with claimed that anything within a foot of the hole while putting was generally considered made because the greens were legitimately almost unputtable...no joke. Fairways were more idealistic suggestions, that actual bodies of turf. One pond on the back nine was completely devoid of water, yet filled, almost mockingly, by the staff with a massive amount of industrial trash (massive concrete slabs, gnarled metal and rotting cardboard...again, no joke.) The fact that this course has 5 star rating is actually unbelievable. I do not mean like oh-hell-yeah-thats-great-type-unbelievable - more along the lines of no-way-in-hell-those-are-real-type-unbelievable...please do not believe the legitimacy of those reviews. I assume the fake reviews were commissioned by someone who stands to gain financially from suckering customers in with fake reviews. Simply put, if you are a golfer of even the most basic level of skill (like putt-putt, for instance), this is an unchallenging, overpriced and decrepit excuse for a course. I urge everyone to avoid this soon-to-be-landfill at all costs.

I played there once before and paid for a round for my son and myself and after getting out onto the course past a few holes, I found myself not knowing which way to go to the next hole. ( signs would be helpful) and as I progressed i had found holes under construction, entire holes missing, another hole that was under construction where the tee box was moved up and turned a par for into the distance of a par 3 so of course i was on the green in 1 shot. Wasnt much difference between the fairway and the rough, the greens had weeds on them. To be honest about it, I wouldnt have mind as much had I been warned by the proshop that they had construction and repairs going on, but instead of letting me know before hand they charged me full price ( which wasnt much) and allowed me to go out there and discover it for myself. Ive decided to give them one more shot and will be playing there tomorrow because I believe that once in awhile a course may be in rough shape, but if its anything like the first time I played then it will be the last shot there.

THIS IS NOT A REAL GOLF COURSE! Do not let Heron Lakes be confused with an actual golf course. . .it is a joke and the fact that they actually charge 40 bucks to play on a weekend is a slap in the face to golf. Without a doubt this is the biggest joke of a course Ive ever been to. Went to practive after work one day, paid $12 and I feel like I was raped in the &^$. I left after 10 holes, thinking it would get better. They claim they have par fives, however when youre pitching in to the green ( or what I could only guess is the green being there was a flag half way sticking up out of the ground) after your drive, you clearly arent on a par five now are you! The fairways are non existant, the greens look like your backyard, but more than all of that, its just not a real golf course. . .Heron Lakes is a dog turd. Anyone who states differently is just not a golfer or is just a moron, but probably both. Please see Alysons review. . .joker.

I just golfed here today. 25$ included cart. Thats on a Friday at 9am! This course is in perfect shape and its the end of July and close to 100º today. The fairways are tight; theres rough if you miss. The greens are perfect. This course is short but Im not at a place in my game to be struggling on long par 4s and 5s anyway. Par is 65; thats plenty. Some long par threes and short par fours seem longer than they appear. I did not use driver, too dangerous if you miss. If youre looking for a fun game, golf here. I promise you will not be disappointed. Ive played golf all over the USA and I think this place is great. Reasonable price, nice layout, great conditions, not crowded and easy to get to. What more could you want? Keep Longwood; Glenloch Farms; Jersey Meadows; Augusta Pines; Pinecrest; Bear Creek. Give me the new Heron Lakes! Great place to work on accuracy and think your way through a round.

Id say that this is the worst course in the world, but I havent played all the worlds courses so Id only be guessing. I will say this, Ive played close to 300 golf courses in my life and this is the worst Ive ever seen. A lot of reviews focus on the conditions, which are mediocre I admit. But honestly, they could groom this place like Augusta National and it would still be a terrible golf course. I wouldnt play here if it were free. I popped in to kill a few hours after flying into Bush airport. I played the front nine in about 45 minutes and by the time I got to the turn I was ready to leave. My options were sit at home and do nothing, or keep playing. I left and Im glad I did. Golf at this course is soul crushing, and makes you wonder how anyone ever built such an awful golf course, and why anyone would voluntarily play here more than once.

I passed by this course for a year because of its reviews. One day I decided to drop in and check it out. I was amazed. This small course was challenging, reasonably priced and convenient. I now go there weekly to keep sharp with my iron play. The fairways are tight and keep you on your toes. Update: Brought some family to play a round and the phone number to the grill was not working. Had to call the clubhouse and was told "they are not affiliated with Heron Lakes course". Added around 45 minutes to my playing time just to grab a quick bite to eat. They need to add little conveniences like that to make this course more attractive to new customers.
