The Center is named after the first Hispanic Houston City Comptroller Mr. Leonel Castillo, who recently passed earlier this year. Tucked away near the sunset heights area this community center is great event space. With ample parking- Several lots that can hold a total of 75 cars - this location is suitable for all types of events from small conferences/lectures to Quinceaneras. They have an amazing prep-kitchen. There are no heating elements though, so your caterer will need to know that in advance. The space can be played around with as there are air walls in each room that can be removed to open the space or closed to section it off for smaller meetings or private gatherings. Ask for Carolina when you go. She is great and can help with the tour.

The center has a very welcoming atmosphere and encompasses most of what a community center should be - and if they dont offer a service you would like - ASK! They do attempt to accommodate the community. One of the better kept secrets in Houston (shhh...lets keep it that way).

The community center is an excellent meeting place for the near northside community and nearby communities. There is a bike share out front, access to the white oak bike and hike trail, several activity rooms, and lots of available parking.

This is a jewel in the Near Northside! I am delighted that the old Lee Elementary was preserved by Harris County Commissioner and is currently a great community resource. PS. This is the Northside not the heights!
