So if you are looking for a place where everyone knows your name...you should go home. However, if you want to meet some awesome people and have some great food at the same time while listening to great bands, then Last Concert Cafe is the place for you. My night started right after work driving through migraine worthy traffic to the east side of downtown. As I parked on the street, no real parking lot at all, I was surprised to see Oxheart the restaurant right across the street (so thats where that restaurant is). I walked up to the red door, which was locked...you have to knock in order to get in, I like it! This night was the night of the No Label Beer Dinner. Already on stage was a band, they were playing a mix of original music and covers...it looked like it would be a low key night, again I liked it. When we sat down for dinner the servers were warm and welcoming and served our first beer (Don Jalepeno...spicy) with a flameado containing fajita and chorizo, omg I was in heaven. Each and every course was spot on and tasted soooo good, I was sad to learn that it was not on the regular menu I am hopeful though. Throughout the meal another band went on stage and they were awesome (dont remember the name but they were really good)...the rest of the night went well as it became an open mic and new talent got up and performed. All in all it was an awesome night. And all this on a Tuesday!

You know whats fun? Feeling like you are a part of a secret club. You know one of the best places to get that fix in Houston? Last Concert Cafe. Go here. Dont get discouraged or shy when the red door is locked. Just knock on it. It will be opened shortly. Trust the system. THEN, once you are inside, order a margarita and sit in one of many cool spots in the restaurant. Listen to some music, people watch, and eat delicious food. The Tex-Mex here is delicious. They have all the standards and then some. You cant really go wrong. The price is right and the atmosphere is unlike any other place in Houston. Check out their calendar to find their awesome events. You can watch/participate in a drum circle, dance in the sand to a dreamy band, or just go to eat the really good food.

Its been an awfully long time since I had stopped by the little red door. Ill be dating myself, but as a child my folks use to bring me here, back when the last madam in her 80/90s would be near the checkout. Through the years, we always eventuyally make a return visit. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes its not...last week, it was good. But that isnt really the point at all about Last Concert, its that, Houston, a city full of generic chains has so few unqiue places left that call this city home...much like the Astros, you should support them in their good (right now the food is good) and when their perhaps their not quite up to par. Go, you may not still have to knock..the music is fun, the atmosphere is great, and the food is true Tex-Mex.

First off, location is pretty bad. The area isnt very parking friendly and it doesnt help that there is a house falling apart next to it that might be a crack house. The door remains lock during service hours which indicates how bad the neighborhood actually is. I heard aboutt his place because they tend to have events with live music and it seems that I missed that on my visit. Their queso is really good. While I trying to order beers, I encounter beers that they no longer have on their menu. The rest of the food is decent, however it seems that half their menu are variations of enchiladas. On a side note a friend of mine went to the bathroom and said that they were no doors, just curtains.... Heads up.

I cant tell you how much I love this place - and its not for the music venue, its for the food. Its classic Tex-Mex at its best. I always start out with queso and a margarita. If they have any special dishes that night ORDER IT, you wont be disappointed. Another great thing to get is anything with Apolinars roasted beef. I think the roasted beef is longhorn – it is shredded and juicy and not sticky. Its dense, with a barbacoa like texture or similar to what is in a tamale. In other words, yes. And always finish with a Tres Leches - its one of the best Ive ever had. Keep an eye out for a Billy Gibbons appearance!

Nice and greasy picadillo tacos complete with a homemade thick corn tortilla taco shell! The food was definitely Tex-Mex and the place gave off that classic original Houston-style Tex-Mex vibe that has been ingrained in Houston for over half a century. They have regular musical acts on the patio and it seems the place stays pretty busy with a complete cast of down-to-earth regulars and sociable out-of-towners. I had a great experience down to the food and the music and its proximity to Eastdown Warehouse and other music venues in the Warehouse district makes it the perfect place to grab a bite.

Last Concert Cafe is a 110% bet to go out to a venue like no other in Houston. It feels like spending a surreal moment away from the hustle and bustle of our fast city enjoying a consistently delicious meal and quite often great music from nice people who never hesitate to send a genuine smile showing you a sincere gratitude for taking time to enjoy the place they clearly have enjoyed and are proud to be a part of for years. I have never once left last concert cafe feeling at least a little better than when I arrived. Great people and have come to feel like an extended family... see you there!

Great atmosphere and beer!really a beer person and worried I might be out of water while I waited for my friends, but the bartender and some friendly people at the bar were patient and helpful and I enjoyed the Bells and Expedition they suggested, as well as the beer sampler. My friend, whos wheat intolerant just had a shot. Also had the duck slider: the meat was delicious and the chips crunchy. There was a little too much sauce, but the pickle made it ok.A smallish bar, seemed like a lot of friend groups taking space. When my party.we had to depart but Ill definitely return.

I mean, whats not to love about this place?! This is the kind of place that if I was visiting a city and wanted something unique and outside of the normal touristy spots (FYI, if one more person says "Houston, you have a problem"...), I would send them here. A Houston staple since before Jesus was born (pretty sure thats accurate..) with great live music and a unique sand pit in front of the stage. Always a fun time on Wednesday nights with the drum circle as well. If you are from Houston and havent been, go now. If youre visiting, dont miss this place.

If youre looking for strobe lights, hooker heels and Abercrombie gear - Last Concert is NOT the place for you. This venue is laid back and easy-going with a great crowd and great music. I first went to LCC in the early 90s when it was a hideout for for the cannabis-friendly. Today they offer the same great atmosphere (minus the weed) and the same great service. Ive never eaten here so I cant comment on the food, but the beers are cold are the tunes are hot. Five out of five!
