After paying over $260 on VIP tickets for my friends and I for their NYE bash, I am feeling extremely angry and ripped off. While waiting calling for our ride inside the breezeway at the end of our night, my friend and I were harrassed by their thug off-duty cops hired for security. Keep in mind, it is 16 degrees outside and there are at least 10 other people waiting inside the breezeway. After trying to understand exactly what the three cops (Im not sure why that small space takes three security people) were yelling over each other, my friend and her boyfriend turned to walk out the doors to wait for our ride while I stayed inside the doors so I could hear the other end of my phone call. Two cops decided to follow her to the door and shove her to the ground outside, completely undeserved as she was already on her way out. One cop even fell on top her then proceeded to push himself up on her and leave her on the ground. I was so shocked I hung up my phone call and asked why that was necessary. The cop that fell on my friend then grabbed my shoulders hard and started shoving me out the doors. I had to push his hands off because he was grabbing me so hard it was painful. He said I was going to get a felony because of it. Im pretty sure if youre an off-duty officer youre not supposed to pose as being on-duty, I will check on that though. We were later told by onlookers that what happened was completely undeserved. Its disgusting that we were treated this way and really a shame that nobody has done anything about it. Waking up on New Years Day, my friend is covered in scrapes and bruises from the incident and we have photos to prove it. Happy New Year Slowdown, plan on hearing from us again.

I was at the Slowdown to see Conor Oberst & the Mystic Valley band. I am a minor but my boyfriend is 21. Because he is old enough to drink, he bought a beer. The security guard thought he saw my boyfriend give me his beer, which didnt actually happen. He kicked us out of the show, and didnt even talk to us to hear what actually happened. Being half Native American, I feel as though I was racially profiled due to many stereotypes about my race. The security guard passed by at least 4 (caucasian) minors who actually had alcoholic beverages in hand and did nothing. But because of my ethnicity, he proceeded to kick me out without any question. I wasnt offered a breathalyzer test or even asked my side of the story. Instead, he kicked me out of the show based clearly on the color of my skin. Safe to say if you are going to the Slowdown to have a good time, beware. The Security guards are clearly bigoted and intolerable of other races. Being an Omaha native, I am sad to say this will be my last time attending any shows at this venue. It is sad to see race as an issue in 2013.

I went to a show here Tuesday night to see HDBEENDOPE and Portugal. The Man. I started at the balcony and eventually moved to the lower floor. There is not a place with bad sound in this venue. The staff were nice and there were minimal lines at the bar and the bathroom. Drink prices are typical event prices. The admission process was smooth. There are many seating options here as well. If you get there when the doors open, there are great short tables and chairs in the balcony that are great options for seating. There are many tables and chairs on the primary floor, and for you parents attending with your children, there are comfortable seating options in the back and its not as loud there either. I will never hesitate young to a show here, what a fun great night

We saw Rodney Atkins and Belles and Whistles here. The place itself was really pretty nice. We paid extra for seats to the west of the stage. The staff was awesome about making sure that the people who were sitting there were supposed to be sitting there. The staff on the floor was awesome! Very personable and funny and great at their jobs. The guy who was bartending was great but the lady left a lot to be desired. She was rather short with people so I tried not to go to her. Other than that we had a great time and will definitely come back again!

Ive been to a few shows at the Slowdown. I love the vibe there. You have a choice of staying on the floor level with the stage, or going upstairs to the balcony. I like both perspectives. Also, Im a delivery driver downtown so I deliver to some of the people that work there. Theyre always very nice. A few weeks ago Aesop Rock was at the Slowdown. Unfortunately me and my coworker had to close at work, but we still wanted to check it out. The guy at the front let us in without paying, to see the encore which was pretty cool.

As a business its your obligation to market properly for a packed house. With that said we saw Illenium last night there and they didnt open their main stage and put a nationally known artist on some basic little side stage based on initial ticket sales. It made for horrible sound, a narrow viewing area, and challenging to get a drink from the bar. Although usually the bar staff there is very uptight anyways so thats not a major loss. The only reason they get 1 star this time is because they actually booked Illenium.

Great place if you can get into a show that is in demand, their ticket system consist of probably 1 really old server and a dial-up connection because if you try to buy tickets you will always see an error page. I bet the ticket brokers never see that page, so unless you want to go see a band that only a few people have heard about you arent getting in.

Great venue. Plenty of space with a nice bar to accompany it. There were police officers ensuring no shenanigans were going on, which is a nice touch. Also, the employees watch people like hawks. While I was there, I noticed two people get kicked out (for underage drinking, and smoking inside). Shows their committed to keeping the place open.

If you actually enjoy going to shows, the Slowdown is not the place to go. The employees are all really uptight. They like kicking people out for no reason. I get bad vibes when I go in there. Most of the people who go to shows here are stuck up and probably have never gone to a real show in their lives.

This is my new favorite venue in Omaha. I came to see Aesop Rock and the atmosphere was among the most chill Ive ever experienced at a venue. The bar staff were friendly and quick and they have a nice selection of drinks. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, I cant wait to come back!

One of my preferred concert spots. Most of the time, the crowd is cool and the music is good. Im generally comfortable going there alone for a show. My biggest gripe is the limited parking for the venue. Good thing is that the area is generally well lit so you feel pretty safe.
