My friend had her sons second birthday here. We were first timers and unaware of anything they offered. We brought our own cake. There were four kids, a teen and three adults. All family. Didnt want to do anything big since hes just two. Spoke to customer service about packages for the cards for the kids. We just wanted to sit down, do something small, grab some pizza and let the kids play. We had to pay $25 to get a table to eat since we had cake. Silly. But fine. Paid the $25. Went to get his cake and the 5 five balloons we stopped to get on the way for his pictures. We tied the balloons on his chair along with his mother and sister. That way when we took pictures, it looked nice. We ordered two pizzas, 24 wings, two orders of cheese sticks and two pitches of soda. Came out a little under $80 for the food. Not complaining about the prices of food. Just giving an idea to people out there reading this, what to expect if scoping this place out. Food came pretty fast. We ate, enjoyed our time and started to clean up stuff to put in in the trash so he could open his presents. We were all taking video of him opening his presents when this young girl who works there came to our table and told us to take the balloons down because they werent allowed. I was in complete shock. I sat there for a few seconds, looking around and asked her is she was joking. Since every single table that was there for a birthday was covered with balloons. Balloons tied to the chairs, Balloons tied to the tables. Balloons on top of the tables. Table covers. Confetti. Party favors. We had a cake and five balloons. She still told us to take them down. Completely ruined his video. One moment he is happily opening his gifts and then you hear her coming in to take the balloons down. He was on his last present. Brushed it off and continued to let him finish opening his presents. We cleaned the table, put everything in the trash and made our way to the car to put the stuff away. As were are on our way out, not even joking, the same young lady is helping another table set up... balloons! I went up to her, and asked her if she was seriously putting up balloons on a different table after she told us to take our down. She apologized and laughed. We almost just left and went to Dave and Busters. But the kids really wanted to roller skate too. But I really wish we did. We did the $100 package with a $40 bonus . Giving each kid and the teen $28 to play. A few of the kids went to do go-karts. Which were a joke. They stopped it constantly. I dont think they were able to go around one lap without stopping. Something would break down. Not all the kids could go together either. Most carts werent operational. So, because of all the problems with some of the kids that did go, the ones waiting decided it wasnt worth the $8 to spend. We went skating. This place stunk so bad. It was hot with limited air flow. So uncomfortable. Walls had holes in them. Not tiny holes. Holes as if someone had punched it in. Floor was uneven and cracked to skate on. They must have blown the speakers previously, because when playing music, they rattled the entire time. People must have been annoyed by it and complained. They ended up turning off the big speakers and playing the music very loudly on speakers not equipped for the volume. Even more annoying. Kids ended up hating it. Now onto the games. The games themselves were fun. Fairly priced. We were taking pictures as we went along with the kids and the baby. The staff was horrible. It seemed as though they watched every single person and picked on them about their kids for every little thing. Dont do this, dont do that. The baby was playing a game and the kids got next to the arcade to take a picture. Staff told us not to crowd the machine. I mean, cmon. We werent the only ones. Other families were having the same situation. It was just overall unpleasant. We were so happy to leave. So, $25 for a table to bring in cake, $roughly $80 for food and $140 on games. Total $245. Not worth it to me.

Houston Party Rental Inc
As a Party Rental Vendor who provided services to Funplex for a Church Lock-in, I am in awe at the lack of professionalism the Managers insist upon. We are a 25+ year old Party Rental Company, one of the oldest and biggest in Houston. For the unique circumstances of an all night Lock-In, we Charge a minimum amount for 1-3 items. Of the 3 items, the major concern is the 24ft Rockwall that ended up being unused by the customer renting the venue. On at least 2 separate conversations via phone, one via email, our staff brought up the Rock-Wall and its unique dimensions. This item CAN go indoors, if properly measured, but is often placed outside due to its size- Dimensions were mentioned repeatedly, substitutions were offered just in case (inflatable rockwall). In multiple conversations, it was insisted the proper homework had been done by funplex staff, and that the item would fit in "The Loading Dock" or connecting area. Funplex dropped the ball in many ways. #1- they did not do their homework as explained, their customer AND 20+ year vendor paid the cost for this as this item would not fit, and no Plan B existed. #2- As a Vendor attempting to cover labor costs already incurred, we had to chase down management for TWO WEEKS to get a check for services already provided. I should not be calling 4 different people to get ahold of management, NO VENDOR should put up with this. Despite the standard pricing known to funplex for 20 years on lock ins, they refuse to pay for a booked item they failed to accommodate due to their own incompetence. #3 they represented themselves as funplex in email, in quote request, and over the phone- yet when demanding to be paid, insist they are no longer funplex, attempting to relinquish any responsibility ..... To other competing rental companies, or vendors in any industry, get a check up front in full. These guys are as unprofessional as they come. As of over 2 weeks later, We have yet to be paid.

This place sucks, and not worth it. In short: expensive, slow lines, broken/ slow go karts, favoritism, and in general awful customer service from most personnel. Lines are SLOW due to the staff moving extremely slow (the lack of care for people spending their hard earned money in Funplex apparently means nothing) or due to the staff allowing people to drive GO KARTS that do NOT WORK. They either wont turn on, or if the do they shut off after 30 seconds or they go slower than a baby crawling. The personnel for the go karts also allow favoritism when it comes to letting certain children skip other children, because they were waiting in the wrong line. On top of that some of the children didnt meet the age or height requirement to drive in a single go kart. Meaning everyone else waiting in the single line had to wait even longer. And then the workers did not uphold the standard of kicking riders out of their go karts if they crashed twice. Also, the lady at the kiosk selling funplex cards told us the cards covered bowling, but did not tell us they only covered certain rates. Meaning it can pay for the cost of 1 game of bowling but not 1 hr. After complaining to customer service about everything the only thing she could tell me was that they do not offer refunds. No apology. No "I will speak to the staff to uphold staff and not allows favoritism." Sadly, i have $108 left on my Funplex card and i dont know what to do with it because I never want to go back.
