Love. This. Park. For being in Dallas, you couldnt ask for better. The park is almost always crowded and there is never complete silence because of the nearby highways but its unrealistic to ask for those things from a park in such a large city. There are plenty of paths to hike and once you get on the trails, you will find space to yourself, maybe running into a few people along the way. Pro-tip: the shorter trails usually have fewer people on them. The scenery is beautiful, featuring several trickling streams, expansive views of a nearby lake, a small pond, and much more. Some of the trails are moderately demanding in terms of length and elevation change. This park has my highest recommendation for anyone who needs a day hike but doesnt want to leave Dallas.

Me and a friend went on Sunday and we had a blast. The trails were marked well and gave heads up when you would hit another trail. It was near a road that was heavily had construction going. The trails had a great incline and could be used for all people for all fitness levels. There are some trails that are used more frequently so there will be runners and become heavy with traffic at times. On a Sunday there was not a big of a crowd, I would go afternoon 1 or 2. The trails had ponds and sights that were great to view and capture the scenary around you. Make sure you bring water because you will need it I promise you. People should visit it there is incredible nature walk that people need to see.

Ok, so Im not much of an outdoorsy person which is why I only gave four stars. However for those who love being one with nature and enjoy a nice challenge this is a great spot for you. The scenery is lovely but there are lots of steep inclines/declines that are not for the meek like me. Also, the paths are clearly beaten and marked but, to me, were a bit misleading because it seemed they kept leading me away from my destination. Sadly I didnt get to see the pond I badly wanted to see. But there will be a next time. Just be prepared when you go(i.e. proper clothing, gear, food, water). I would recommend this beautiful place to anyone.

Whether youre a bird watcher, hiker, botanist, or a parent looking to get your kids out of the house, Cedar Ridge Preserve will give you what you need. The Preserve began with only twenty-six acres of land, but now boasts 600 acres of natural habitat with nine miles of trails that trek through the shades of native Texan trees. A mere 20-30 minutes drive from downtown Dallas, the Preserve is worth a half-day visit. Just make sure to come early in the morning before the heat and temperature rise. FYI, well-kept bathrooms are available at the trail heads, so dont hesitate to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.

I have ran a lot of different hiking/biking trails in the DFW, and this by far is my favorite so far. I use to run here 1-3 times a week for the last couple years, but recent knee injuries have slowed me down to the flatter river legacy trails. This park has roughly just over 10 miles of complete trails with a lot of hill climbs, a large valley, and few streams/creeks that run through the reserve. This place was my sanctuary for the longest time, and I plan on going back to it on a regular basis asap.

Well worth it ...! I run up and down the trails for 45min-1hr. resting every 1-2 miles to do push ups, squats, whatever. Sometimes I take my Nikon D3200 and take photos. Kid friendly, not stroller friendly, some trails are though but be sure to check em out before you take one there. havent ran into any wild life yet! Folks of all backgrounds have fun here. I come 3-5 times a week or when I am not in Planet Fitness weight training. The treadmill is false motivation, stay away! Hit the Trails ..!

Great place to go hiking with friends and/or with your dog! I went with a friend and a dog and had a blast. There tends to be a lot of spider webs early on but the farther you get, the less you encounter if at all. Regardless its a great place to go and the view in areas throughout the trail make the hike worth it! The pond they have wasnt all the great; however, it was very calming and relaxing since it was so quiet in that area. Highly recommend this place to go hiking!

Beautiful piece of nature so close to Dallas. Be forewarned, this is not like the other DFW parks with concrete "trails". This preserve has true dirt trails and real hills. Wear good footwear and be prepared. There are easier paths in the park, Bluebonnet is easy, out and back on the escarpment is easy. Circling the pond and hiking the Fossil trail will test couch potatoes but it is used frequently for trail runner training so definitely doable. Great walk with the dogs.

A must for hikers! Best consistent hiking Ive found in North Texas over 35 years. Well marked, well maintained. With a great diversity of skill levels, these trails can be taken individually for .4 mile or combined for up to 12 miles for through hike training. Used by beginners, trail runners, and families. No bikes! Can be shorter hikes, or longer hikes with significant elevation changes. Wildflower areas and many photo ops. Nice picnic areas. Great park restrooms.

Trails are great, parking on the other hand sucks. I was told to park in this one area by a gentleman out there directing traffic. When I returned to my vehicle a police officer was in the process of writing me and every other vehicle parked off the side of road a ticket. We were all completely clear of the fire lane with all tires in the grass. The worst part is the cop told me it was the dude directing traffic that called it in and said we needed to be ticketed.
