The course was very good, however, the pro shop personnel and "course marshall" were hideous. Our foursome was harrassed by the marshal for the last 2 holes of the front nine. We werent holding anybody up but he told us to play faster anyway. He then proceeded to watch our every shot for the next 2 holes even though the group behind us was not being held up. When we finished the 9th, the marshall stopped us again and told us we are on a 5 hour pace. He said you have to play Crossgates in 4 hours and 15 minutes (or expect to be harassed). Thats ridiculous for a challenging public golf course hat poses alot of trouble to the average golfing foursome who doesnt play there on a regular basis. After the round, someone from the pro shop told us that play had slowed down because the group in back of us had waited to tee off on a par 4 until after we left the green. It was right after this happened the marshall first razzed us when he had no legitimate reason to do so. Then another pro shop staff person said it was unacceptable to play in five hours. Actually, we played in 4 hours 50 minutes and had been held up ourselves for 10 minutes on the second hole waiting for the group ahead. We then asked the group in back whether they ever had to wait on us and they said no. All in all, the people in the pro shop and the marshall were anything but customer friendly. At no time did we make anybody wait to hit a shot and if we did we would have let them through. It should not matter how long you play if you dont hold anybody up. Apparently, Crossgates does not want average golfers to play its course unless they play speed golf. Dont even think about getting a hot dog after nine holes. We didnt even though we could have used one. I will not play there again.

I would rate the golf course 3 out of 5 stars. Layout is okay, conditions were average, nothing really to speak about. However, I have to agree with some of the other posts about the terrible service and staff. I took my father, mother and wife out for a round of golf on a Sunday. We were told, very rudely, to pick up the pace on the 5th or 6th hole. No one was in sight behind us as we were actually playing very quickly. The girls were not even playing most of the holes. The twosome in front of us was maybe two holes ahead. However, we kept on being harassed by the ranger because their policy is to keep you up the a$$ of the group in front of you. When we made the turn, BARELY two hours after we started, we all stopped to get a bite to eat at the snack bar. As soon as we were done getting our food, the guy working the pro shop came out and told us we had to keep playing while we ate. I asked him if we could just let the group behind us play through. Apparently that was an absurd question because I received a frantic and condescending response that never answered my question. Everyone was disgusted at this point. We went off the back nine but my parents ended up leaving halfway through the 10th because my father was in a foul mood because he understandably does not like being spoken to like a child by a pro shop attendant. My wife and I finished the back nine, no one could be seen in front of us or behind us. We finished in 3 hours and 50 something minutes. Ruined my Fathers day gift to my dad and they wont be getting my business again.

I always love playing this course. I played on Fathers day and it took a little over 5 hours, but I expected that being such a special day and all. The course is extremely pretty with lots of trees and a river winding by with the occasional kayaker or canoe floating by. I found the greens very challenging, being fast & somewhat hard for me to read. Although my father was close to sinking several long putts. I didnt have any problems with marshalls harrassing us, but the snack girls were out on every hole. This did seem a little annoying but we would just wait for them to pass & they were there when I needed a drink. All in all I would definitely reccommend this course to anyone looking for a nice day outside.

Just a comment on Jacks DO NOT PLAY HERE review...who wants to play a 5 hour round of golf? Last time I checked a round should not take more than 4 hours...I play Crossgates on a regular basis and I for one am glad they have marshalls asking slow groups to play faster. Not everyone wants their clothes to go out of style by the end of their round and I hope Jack sticks to his word and does not play Crossgates again, at least not if I am teeing off behind him. I am lucky to break 100 and it is not hard to play 18 holes in 4 hours, end of story...

The course is fabulous but the starter and rangers were a joke. A five hour round on a Wednesday morning because the starter sent twosomes and singles out. She sat by the first tee so you didnt know who was really next. It was first come first serve. Why even make a tee time?? The icing on the cake came on the eighteenth tee. After waiting ten minutes to tee off a jogger ran right down the cart path in front of us and a ranger who just sat there like that was normal

The deals they have on the golf now app are awesome. The course is in pretty good shape, but last times there was a lot of jamming up from slow players. Nothing aggravates me more than getting thrown off my groove/pace. There were times where I was waiting for ten minutes to even take a shot. Thats just not acceptable. Ive never had an issue here before though, so Im sure its not too common an occurance.

So we prepaid for a round of golf and were running a minute late. When we went in to the pro shop the cashier told us we were too late and we couldnt play. We were 5 mins late!! Plus they didnt give us a refund and told us they could fit us in about 30mins later but we would have to pay full price. Im glad we didnt play cause their practice green was trash. All I saw was a bunch of ditches on the green.

An absolutely fantastic course. It has enough challenges to keep it interesting. Like a couple island fairways, sloped greens and a few tough dog legs. The grass is well maintained all the way around. The greens are very fast, which is the current trend. Beautiful course with attractive water features like playing right along the Conestoga River. Definitely play here.

To echo Keith the course is fabulous but there was no starter and no rangers. Each hole was backed up by 4 groups. I usually dont complain about players and their play but someone needed to monitor play. It took 5 plus hours just to get to 17. I just left the course and the pro shop stated they could do nothing about any form of compensation.

The greens were in top notch shape. Our cart was ready for us. We used the app for the first time and all was in order. The staff was friendly. Purchased some items in the Pro Shop and they were very helpful. Had lunch at the Grill and the food was terrific. We enjoyed the course immensely!
