I dislike standing in a line to wait hours for swimming and had to give up because time was up while weve already paid the whole month for it. The reason is "pool is full", and that has happened every week. How do they think if I have a restaurant and sell 1000 tickets for food every day, but serve 100 orders? Only 100 customers have food, and the others have to wait and go home with no food. The center steals our money and our time. How can it pay for our money, time, work of driving and waiting, our chance of swimming, our uncomfortableness, and the whole summer lost? Couple times we had to wait more than 15 minutes for checking in while the only staff served a customer for registering. Sometimes there were 3 staffs, but they walked around and didnt serve us while we were still waiting. Several times, the center was closed for "events" like parties, dancing, etc, but never say sorry nor pay money back to customers. The locker room is not very clean. Some faucets dont work forever, only a few have note "out of order".

I registered my young one for swim lessons here. I was told by the front desk when I called that it was fine that she turned 3 during the session and she was registered, they took my money, etc. When I called back to check on possibly changing the time of her lessons, I was told that she was not allowed to register if she was not three on the first day, and was subsequently cancelled out of the class we already registered her for. When I spoke with the pool manager for clarification of the inconsistency in policy, she was neither sympathetic, nor did she offer an apology. I can absolutely understand a new employee not having a clear grasp of policy, but I dont understand the manager being defensive and unapologetic for it. Boo!

I suppose people from the local area think this is a great Aquatic Center... If you have any experience with the nicer aquatic centers of Vancouver BC you will be disappointed due to the seeming cleanliness and overall datedness of the interior. But I suppose I did get my swim and I should be thankful for that. Also, the hot tub has good and powerful Jets for back blood flow circulation. Cheers If you are ever up near the border in Washington, go and check out "Grandview Heights Aquatic Center" it is located in Surrey BC. Now that is a heck of a place, you will love it. And you get the benefit of the u.s. Canadian dollar exchange for admission and frankly everything else for that matter in Canada.

My experience was horrible not the community center itself but the reason why I was at the community center. SEI which is a agency that supposedly help the needy in times of an emergency had set an appointment for me to come in for services and then after I got there they came to the conclusion that they couldnt help me instead of calling me back and saying that they couldnt help me just they allowed me to come down there for nothing and they had no suggestion for me in place so I left still needing assistance with energy assistance!!!

A lot of fun. But I wouldnt suggest putting your kid in the teen force program. It is great that the children are able to play basketball and hang out for free but a lot of the kids in 8th grade from the middle school Floyed Light that is next door to the community center love to start fights and they usually dont end well. There is also a lot of cussing coming from the 10-15 year olds so its not great for younger kids.

Nice place to swim with your kid. What I dont like, as soon as you get out of pool area to a lockers and changing rooms, you get hit by a cold wind. :-( When you and your little one are wet, its very easy to get sick that way. :-( So make sure you have a big blanket with you in the pool area to cover at least your child before getting out there.

This place is terrible. My son was jumped here and they didnt even call the police after people were pointing out who was beating on my son and then proceeded to tell my son that hes the one who needed to leave and even after that, it took 3 weeks and calls to Amanda Fritz for them to see if my son was okay.

I remember being so excited when they started building EPCC and it more than lived up to my expectations. It has been a part of our lives ever since. There is a great pool, they offer great classes for all ages and the staff is personable, professional and just wonderful.

Great place for fitness but only toured. Might improve after attend a few times. Has pool 38th current resistance area for therapy and unique exercises. Also has good gyms and onsite trainers. Mostly for flat fees for everything that are really reasonable.

Whats billed as a dance studio that can be rented at the The East Ptld. Community Center is really a overbooked multi-purpose room that is impossible to rent due to ongoing none dance events. Ptld, Parks fix your web page to reflect the facts.

The ladies at the front desk at East Portland Community Center (EPCC) are always so nice to my son and I. That hydro slide is off the hook. Make me feel good that water cycles thru every 4 hrs. For the price you cant beat it!

Great local community center. Lots of classes for exercising. Small clean gym. Nice indoor pool with a slide and shark for the kids. Swim lessons. You can also host birthday partys and such. Great affordable place to swim.

Nice people at the front desk. Womens locker room pretty clean most of the time. Showers are not always hot nor is there soap in the dispensers. Pool is nice as is the Jacuzzi. Love the SMILE swim exercise weekdays at 9:30

Went here to get my taxes done by AARP. The facility smells like sweat and chlorine, and the bathroom floors had water & paper towels all over the place (from swimmers, I suppose - well, lets hope thats what it was).

Not as good as it used to be. Basketball court is rarely ever used for actual basketball anymore. They always have some dumb group thing going on. And the staff seem to have an attitude problem.

I volunteer here and i get a first hand experience with how they work with the kids. The staff is more than qualified to handle any and all kids and i would trust them with my child.

Its was so fun there. There was a whirl pool and a current pool that takes you around a thing in the middle of the pool and its just a lot of fun.
