This pint-sized zoo, with nearby onstreet parking, is packed with fascinating and entertaining zoological wonders. Did you know that a spider monkey has no thumbs on its hands, but has a big thumb on its tail? Or that shrews can eat their own body weight in slugs and insects? Or that there are world rankings for river otter exhibits? This zoo is in the top 10 and it’s no surprise. There is vast, glass otter viewing tank and a pipe you can wriggle into to see the otters swimming and playing all around you. The otters seem to know they are being watched and play up to the tourist cameras accordingly. There are also: 12 flamingos feeding, 11 redwoods towering, 10 goats a’bleating, 9 salmon jumping, 8 keepers keeping, 7 cavies grazing, 6 bush dogs hiding, 5 crested screamers, 4 scarlet ibis, 3 muntjac deer, 2 enormous yaks and red panda skulking in its hutch. (All numbers are approximate, all animals and plants are real.) Don’t miss the chilli cup at the café and the gift shop.

I am a zoology major at humboldt state so I was excited to find a zoo so close to school! The Sequoia Park zoo is pretty small but is an accredited zoo and has nice enclosures and a variety of animals. I enjoyed the zoo so much I started working here! The zoo hosts a barnyard with a touch area, two avieries ( one you can walk through, and another for rehabilitated birds) multiple types of birds and large species like red pandas and otters. This is also only 1 of 8 zoos to have Bush Dogs, and to hopefully start a breeding program they are bringing one in from France soon! The zoo is pretty low price so you can bring the whole family. The cafe is highly rated and there are plenty of features and animals to interest any age! So come visit and say hi to everyone, including Chester the zoo cat:)

This zoo is small but perfect for young children! It is small, easy to peruse, and The otter enclosure is delightful with a small underwater tunnel kids can crawl through. The eagles are majestic, the owl mysterious, and the aviaries a delight. There is also a charming barn with some interactive displays and a petting zoo. My kids loved it and we did it in two and a half hours. The park next door is also fabulous with a breathtaking walking trail.

Two words: otter tunnel. This zoo was small, yes, but you could get really close to the animals. The zoo has red pandas, otters, bush dogs, gibbons, spider monkeys, a bald eagle, and a petting zoo and aviary. The food at the Funky Monkey Cafe (yes, really) was pretty tasty and reasonably priced. It was $8 to get in, and took us about 2.5 hours to see everything. Also, we got a 360 degree view of otters wrestling. Pretty awesome.

If you want a real redwood experience you need to go south or north to see the old growth redwoods. Sequoia Park has some impressive redwoods but it lacks the giants to the north or south. On the other hand if youre in town and want some place for the kids to play plus get in some redwoods. This is the place with a playground, picnic sites, and miles of trails in under the redwoods.

The park and trails have potential if it were kept free of smoke, alcohol, etc. Its beautiful, but families dont always feel comfortable or safe at this park because of the riff raff, transients, and some of the public events. The zoo itself is ok. Not a lot of animals but they seem to be trying to put their best foot forward and do a good job.

My kids LOVE the water play area where they get to pump their own water and watch it trickle down the attack stream bed. This zoo has done a good job of designing interesting and interactive exhibits such as the otter viewing tunnel that extends under water, the giant eagles nest, the wall-through aviary, and the barn/petting area.

Ignore the negative reviews. Sure this place is small, but what else would you expect? This place clearly takes very good care of their animals. They have a selection of animals that you dont typically see at zoo this small. Absolutely worth it. Especially if you stop by on a wednesday because admission is only $4.

Great educational experience for "kids" of all ages. Fun interactive activities. I could tell the animals were well cared for, maybe even loved, by the staff. Their environments were clean and designed to be as true to their natural habitats as possible. An inspiring location amidst the beautiful Sequoias.

This is a tiny but charming zoo. As should be expected in a small city like Eureka, this zoo doesnt have any of the large animals such as elephants, lions or giraffes, but it is a nice local attraction, esp for families with small kids. The food there is also quite reasonable for a zoo.

Nice small zoo with a decent selection of animals. Its no San Diego Zoo, but it doesnt try to be either. It has friendly staff that are well versed in the habits and facts of the animals residing at the zoo. An especially great place for families to go since it is very kid friendly.

What a really special little zoo. I was amazed at the quality of the habitats for the animals. We spent an hour watching the "Screamers". One was taking a bath and it was quite a show. The staff cat is an adorable attraction and my Granddaughter fell in love with the donkeys.

The zoo is small but its a fun little place to visit. The cafe is wonderful though! The food is great, the staff are very friendly and personable, and you can enjoy seating inside or outside. The prices are cheap and the food is great! My friends and I go at least once a week!

Easy to find parking. Zoo was small but had interesting exhibits. River otters, red pandas, lots of cool monkeys just to name a few. It is very reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly. Full of poke stops and gyms. Nice place to spend a few hours.

This zoo is awesome. It sits next to a huge city park that is filled with fun stuff to do with or without kids. Red Pandas, yaks, flamingos, monkeys and more can bee seen at the zoo. It also has a little cafe to get your snack on, and a little gift shop.

My husband and I enjoyed our visit to the zoo very much ! The staff was very helpful, and informative. My only complaint is when we went to go see the sea otters everyone crowded around, and being in wheelchair I was unable to see them very well :(!!

Loved it! Its very very small, but there are lots of animal feedings with workers talks about them, we learned a lot and enjoyed. And theres a wonderful stream pool, kids played there for hours... And a goats petting area :) Wonderful stuff.

A beautiful gem hidden inside Eureka! The park is dog-friendly, but you just need to keep your pooch on a leash. There are lots of tall redwoods, tiny waterfalls, and shade-shade-shade everywhere! Perfect for hiding from the afternoon sun

Loved this zoo! It is small, but the exhibits are the quality of the large ones you see in big cities. The pricing for everything is reasonable. The cafe has great food for little and big kids. Easy to find, and great street parking.
