Hickory Hills Golf Club is a tough test of golf for any handicap! You must hit fairways and greens to score on any course, but here at HHGC it is mandatory! Trees and fairway bunkers wreak havoc with errant golf shots. You must be able to bend shots both ways from a tough lie, as well as hit mid iron bunker shots to recover from the missed fairways. Now that you have accomplished getting to, or around the green, you must be very careful to stay below most hole locations. We try to keep the greens swift but fair to all pen locations, but if you catch HHGC on the wrong day, greens may be very quick with pens on the edge of no return. It is a great test! The people that work at HHGC are really really great people. They are customer service fanatics from top to bottom. They strive to make every member and guest feel like a friend. The greens staff does an extremely great job of keeping this course running and looking great. The course budget is small compared to many others, and the staffs ability to maintain the golf course in the constantly great condition we see is a tribute to just how good our staff is! Lastly the food! I have dined at HHGC for many years and everything I have had was exactly as ordered and delivered timely with a warm smile. The restaurant staff is superior to any and the food is great. Come out and enjoy HHGC!

In full disclosure, Im a member at Hickory Hills, so lets mention that first. Ive been a proud member for 5 years and can list so many reasons why I hope to be a member for another 40... 1. The course is not only fantastic, its also interesting enough that I can play it over and over and never get bored. The piece of land it sits on is phenomenal and is devoid of homes or anything to detract from a great golf experience. Its challenging, but always fair, so whether youre a scratch player or a 25 handicapper, youll be tested but still have the ability to get around the course and enjoy yourself immensely. 2. The members are phenomenal. In my 5 years, Ive met 1 member who I thought was a jerk and he left. Everyone, including the staff, is incredibly friendly and enjoyable to be around, whether it be playing in an event or just hanging out in the grill room. Its a hidden gem and I welcome anyone who wants to experience the course and consider joining to call the club and ask for me. Ill personally take you out to play and introduce you to any member and staff we happen to run into. Theyll all welcome you and give you a great reason to join. Oh, and its a great place to being guests. They can play here on the weekend for about what youd pay to ride at one of the city courses and I GUARANTEE theyll like it here better.

Well run club. I was a guest there a few weeks back. The course, which one would assume is the selling point could use some work though. Hopefully this review gets the course in better shape for my member friends. Great layout, great piece of land mind you but some very glaring issues once you step off the first tee. Bunkers are in need of serious repair or replacement. Some should just be filled in and or made grass bunkers. Fairway traps are like quick sand and green side bunkers are gravel pits. I asked the member if this was typical and he told me that sadly yes. Greens looked sick. Patchy, many different colors. For a private club this should not be. Many public courses that get 10x the play in better shape. Oh, and ANT HILLS EVERYWHERE on greens and tees. Range is basic, but for such a large hitting area they bunch people into such a small space there is no room for many to hit at one time. Putting green is nice. Writing this review in the hopes it helps my buddies who are members get better conditions to play!
