Childrens museum rotates exhibits with other museums, so Rocky Mount gets the same things that you will see in places like Charlotte and Raleigh. Theater is state of the art with local productions. Eight weekends a year you will find a local production, plus Christmas concerts, and childrens shows. Art gallery is nice and also rotates. All of this is in a renovated historic facility in the heart of the downtown.

The Childrens Museum needs some replanning and a science auditor. They had fun activitites downstairs but the information they were trying to teach was over my 7-year olds head; upstairs was below him (and had two birthday parties going on). They also have the original food pyramid (which was updated in 2005!) and the "tounge map" (which has never been correct).

Great experience for kids...and people say there is nothing to do in Rocky Mount. You have to check out the plays here, Ive seen several, with actors and actresses that I know! Not to mention, I have seen some of the most beautiful weddings here!

we stopped in rocky mount on our way to DC. kids had a great time! lots of interactive exhibits! very detailed and interesting. staff was beyond helpful and friendly. just all around an awesome experience.

Love coming to Downtown live in the summer. I encourage anyone to come. A different band every other Thursday. Makes the weekend worth coming.
