Went for Halloween. There were a couple of 90s tribute bands and almost everyone was in costume. The music was great, the crowd was diverse and the drinks were flowing. The walls are red and are filled with bits of lyrics from classic songs. Theres a pool table, booths and plenty of floor space. The bathrooms (only two - unisex) were surprisingly cleaner than I expected although the wait grew longer as the night went on. Overall, Deep South is a cool little dive bar perfect for seeing a band and having a drink. I will definitely go back!

I first went to Deep South the Bar after the GooGoo Dolls concert this past summer. Since then, Ive been back a few times - bartenders are always nice and there is always great live music. I wish there was a second pool table, because people were playing the whole night. Great place though, I try to stop in every time Im on that side of town.

This is one of the best places in Raleigh for live music. They support a wide variety of performers, and rarely fall into the trap of the "tribute" bands, which has been a cancer on the local scene for a long time. Great place to play, great place to watch music. Great staff, too!

Deep South is a cool pregame spot for RedHat shows as it seems to be the closest bar to the venue. We hit this place up before every show. The bartenders are great and there are always drink specials. Its sort of a dive but still a cool place to hang out and listen to live music.

I stumbled across this place after a concert once and loved it. Its a great little music bar that reminds me A LOT of Nashville. They always have great live music, friendly bartenders and good drink specials. Best accidental discovery ever- Its my favorite spot in town now.

I really want to like this place more as I live close by and am a big fan of live music / open mic but theyre constantly understaffed and it takes forever to get a drink. Ive stood there for 20 minutes right at the bar trying to get helped and just left.

I dont know why but this bar on the edge of town gets the seediest people that go there. Also just not very good music most of the time. Its rare that a band I want to see comes here and if they do, they dont come back.

Set your expectations accordingly and this is a great place. Looking for a dive bar, live music, friendly bar staff, and a little grunge? This is where you find it. Leave suit and tie in the car.

This is a cool music venue with cheap drinks. We went on open mic night and a few of the acts were actually really good. Come by for a chill night with cheap drinks and good live music.
