This part of our weekend trip was so FUN!!! It was an easy drive from Brevard to Looking Glass Falls I was able to get in the water even though it was July the water was still cold but it felt good because it was a hot day. After we stayed there for about an hour we traveled to Sliding Rock it was a $2 fee to get in for each person but everything was really nice. They have lifeguards there because people try to go down the rock who dont know how to swim and they have to be saved. Going down the rock is a blast I went down at five times it is smooth and you can wear a bathing suit or biker shorts either way its a nice smooth Rock. When drydens at the bottom you are plunged into 8 ft of water that is freezing cold no matter what time of year you go so be prepared it is kind of shocking but I loved it. You can ride down with your kids too or friends holding hands. You could spend a whole day here just riding the rock over and over again the line may seem long but it goes by really fast. This place is very family-friendly and pet friendly.

This is WNC at its absolute best. Forests for days, breathtaking waterfalls-some you cant miss while others are tucked away and demand you put forth a little effort in exchange for the experience, a natural water slide, hiking and camping options abound. The Cradle of Forestry in America will get you thinking about what mightve been had Vanderbilt and company not introduced the concept of forestry and made huge strides toward making conservation of our natural resources a priority. The Blue Ridge Parkway borders the forest, making it the perfect route to and from, if Asheville is your jumping-off point. I could go on and on, but unless you experience it for yourself, its difficult to truly appreciate.

I visited here as a week long trip with my family and what can I say, this park is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! There are so many things to see and so many trails to hike here! Looking Glass and Sliding Rock are two of the most popular waterfalls, both are swim-able. Sliding Rock is fun because, as the name states, you get to slide down the face of the waterfall into the cold water below! Looking Glass is where a lot of people like to swim at the base of the waterfall. They have miles of hiking trails that range in difficulty that make this the perfect place for any adventurer. If you love hiking, this is the place for you.

We took the Blue Ridge Parkway and it was wonderful. We were afraid driving up the road might have been a mistake because it was raining so hard. We ended up pulling over with some other cars to wait out the storm and then continued on our trek. It was fabulous! The steam rising from the valley below and fog on the highway made it so beautiful. We loved our short tour. We turned around at the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center as it took us about 45 minutes just to get there and we didnt want to end up driving in the dark on such a narrow road. The views were spectacular!!!

The horseback riding stable was friendly and accommodating for our party of 9. They clearly love horses and are proud to share Pisgah with locals or tourists alike. They are also affordable. What sold me was how accommodating they were for my sister who has Autism. They made sure she was between one of the guides and myself at all times, which made her feel secure to enjoy herself. Knowing she felt safe made it easier to enjoy my time with these amazing animals.

Beautiful forest with a ranger station, river for fishing (stocked regularly) and tubing. Camp sites are available, both by reservation and in the back country. Waterfalls are visible from the road. Sliding Rock, a state recreation area where you can slide down a natural rock formation into a pool, I smalls in the park. A lovely drove through the forest will ultimately take you to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Beautiful road trip to the highest part of the park. Fantastic views of the valley and Smokey Mountains very mysterious and enchanting especially during the late afternoon, the sun penetrates through the tight forest, everything is painted in golden tones as the cold winter breeze chills the bones to the core. I wouldnlovento go back and stay for a few days to explore the trails.

This place offers amazing views during a leisurely drive. Along the way there are plenty of overlooks where you can stop to take pictures and enjoy the breathtaking views. I would exercise caution if traveling to Mt. Mitchell with someone who has breathing difficulties due to the high elevation. My mom, who has COPD, had more difficulty breathing because of the altitude.

Gods country (of course its in the South, silly). Beautiful scenery, easily accessible, many hiking trails for the beginner as well as the more experienced hiker. Stunning waterfalls, varied end unusual plants and animals. Well worth the time to get away from the grind of civilization and connect with oneself and the God Who revels in the creation of such beauty.

With multiple roads in and out including the Blue Ridge Parkway and more then enough to do in one day. Plan your trip ahead. Think about lunch or shelter if needed. There are lots of free open pinic area along the river. At the Ranger station you can find a map, refreshments and clean bathrooms as well as a gift shop. Make sure to get you Hiking stick medallion.

A beautiful park to drive through along the BRP. The scenery is amazing and ranges from dense forests to rocky mountains. It can get cold in the higher elevations, so bring a jacket and some layers or a car with heated seats. It is probably the most majestic in the fall with the beautiful colors. A great, and pretty short drive south on the BRP from Asheville.

Have been hiking and camping here for around 15 years. There is no place like it. You can watch the sun rise on one side and watch it set on the other side of table rock. You can hike down into the gorge and swim or fish. You can see wildlife like no other. From Peregrine falcons to ravens, black bears to cougars , there is plenty to do for any age group.

Ive been visiting and camping here for years. Between wading under Looking Glass Falls and going down Sliding Rock to great hiking trails and primitive camping, this park has so much to enjoy for the whole family!! The nearby mountain town of Brevard is worth stopping in. Lots of cute little shops and easy to walk around in.
