This place is an awesome if you like history. It is a cool place to go to if you want to see what the inside of a lighthouse looks like, and if you climb up all 214 stairs (which really isnt all that many!) you can go to the outside walkway at the top of the lighthouse, giving you beautiful views of the ocean, the land, and giving you an idea of what the Outer Banks really looks like. Be sure to bring your camera, as you will want to take many photographs! Also be sure to bring a bottle of water on hot days, as it can get very warm on the inside days. Overall, I am very impressed with the site. The price of admission is well worth it. I recommend going when they open (9 a.m. in the summer as they are closed in the winter to renovate, etc) because the wait on their busiest day can get up to 1/2 an hour. Also recommend not bringing very young kids because they may not want to walk all the way to the top and you may have to wind up carrying them which can be a pain, although kids 7 and younger are free.

A beautiful and informative place, the view from the top of the lighthouse is absolutely incredible. You can walk all the way around the top for a 360 degree view of the surrounding area. It does get a bit tight if several people are up simultaneously, but the staff does a great job of limiting the number of people for safety reasons. Just a note: while you do have to pay admission to climb the 220 stairs of the lighthouse (and yes, it is well worth it), credit/debit is NOT accepted as a form of payment at the time of this review! Cash or check only!

This place is tucked away, and somewhat hard to find. But because of that, it is not so crowded like other light houses. Nice cozy gift shop with a friendly clerk. The Gent. that controls the line for climbing is very aggressive on doing his job. National park passport stamp is located at the lighthouse and must get in line for climbing for your turn. Wildlife park next door is also a great place to park.

Beautiful grounds, surrounded by a beautiful park and nature center with beautiful views of the sound. Closed during the off-season, which is why I have given only a 3 star. Couldnt even get up close just to see the outside of the lighthouse. Restrooms are close to parking and clean. Here for my sons college spring break. Should consider opening in time for college students to appreciate this area.

What an amazing lighthouse! The views from up top are amazing. The red brick is unique to this lighthouse, and the history behind it is wonderful. I enjoy coming here with friends and family for a Saturday outing. Pack a picnic lunch, and come spend a few hours enjoying the history and views from this lighthouse. The ocean is nearby if you want to take a swim after your lighthouse excursion.

This is a must if you are coming to Corolla! The beautiful red brick light house stands watch over the ocean and it passing ships. Fantastic views from the top! Great little shop there as well. This light house is very historic and should be on your list of things to see on the East Coast. Plenty of parking, and they have restrooms available. A must do in Corolla!

Make sure youre in shape if you plan to climb the lighthouse stairs. I took my 4 year old and that was a mistake. The bars on the steps were small enough for him to fit through and I was terrified the whole walk back down the steps. Not for small children. The view was beautiful from the top and he loved that. Fun and welcoming staff.

If you are in the Currituck area you have to at least visit this place once. The museum explains the unique nature and history of the area with a wonderfully preserved historical village nearby. The lighthouse (which you can see from almost anywhere in the area) is beautiful and open to anyone who would like to climb it.

We loved climbing the light house. Its a little bit more expensive than I would have liked but it goes to keeping up the structures. The climb is easy and they dont let more than a few up at a time which is nice. The nature center is also pleasant and educational. Its a beautiful place to spend a couple hours.

I hear that it may be under repair right now, but when it re-opens and if youve got the cash, I recommend you check it out! Its getting harder to find these lighthouses still open, and the view is amazing so dont miss out. Price I think was a steep $20ea though but still a unique and fairly short experience.

The lighthouse was pretty awesome looking and the view from the top with the ocean on one side and Currituck Sound on the other was breathtaking. I highly recommend checking it out if youre in the area. One word of caution: you have to climb over 200 steps on a steep spiral staircase to get to the top.

Great place to visit. However, its currently under renovation/repair. The grounds and surrounding areas are great for having a family picnic. There are souvenir shops available where you can buy items related to the lighthouse. If youre adventurous enough you can climb to the top level.

Its a hot climb in the summer but well worth the view. I could see this being scary to those who dislike heights. The ticket price is 10 for adults, there is museum of the lighthouses history on the first two levels. The tickets go to supporting the restoration of the lighthouse.

Beautiful grounds, expertly laid red brick, fully functional lighthouse. Climb to the top! The out buildings are still intact and the amazing gift shop toward the back of the property covers the entire cottage and is extensive and fairly priced. Must visit if on OBX vacation.

Beautiful lighthouse. Ten dollars a person to go in and climb up but kids 7 and under are free. It is a really nice and sturdy staircase leading to the top. I have a pretty bad hatred of heights but I felt really safe. Absolutely gorgeous views of the ocean and the sound.

Really fun, absolutely frightening at the top (Im not great with heights), but the view was worth it. 10$ to climb the light house was kinda expensive though, the older lady at the admission window was very sweet and told us a lot about the lighthouse and was very kind.

Ive been stopping in here for years. You should visit on Wednesday evening when the lighthouse is open later. If you want to take pictures of the lighthouse you should plan on a Friday or Saturday evening. Most of the tourists are busy getting settled in their houses.
