First of all, let me say that this venue has a lot of potential. The sound set-up is high quality, and the atmosphere is great. With that being said, I was deeply disappointed in my overall first experience at New Mountain. Earlier today, I went to New Mountain to see Snarky Puppy at 3:00. Upon my arrival, I was told that I needed to be a member in order to enter the venue. Luckily, the membership for this "private club" was free and only required an e-mail address, but I thought that this was odd - especially since it wasnt noted anywhere online. Im sure there was a good reason for it, but I was surprised nonetheless. After that, I scanned my ticket and got into the venue. Once I had done that, I was pointed to another table where I had to buy a $2.00 alcohol wristband. I was asked to pay money so that I could then pay more money for alcohol. What in the world? This made no sense to me. If anything, this should have been factored into the ticket cost - at least in my opinion. Anyway, it was now time to sit around and watch the opening acts before Snarky Puppy came on. To my surprise, however, I soon found out from the staff that Snarky Puppy wouldnt be coming on until around 8:30 in the evening. Huh? So I have to wait almost 6 hours before I can see the one group I actually came here to see? Complete bogus. This vital information should have been noted somewhere online - either on their website or Ticketfly. I didnt see it anywhere. I had a work obligation starting at 8:00PM, which I had previously thought would not conflict with the concert. Of course, that just wasnt the case anymore. Now, I would have to leave and forfeit my opportunity to see Snarky Puppy. Heres the bottom line - I paid to see a 3:00 show, not an 8:30 one. As you can tell, I was motivated to write this review because I ended up paying for a concert that I could not attend. In the end, though, I do feel like New Mountain could have provided me with more information ahead of time. With this in mind, I hope that New Mountain will clarify their concert schedules in the future - at least for concerts and/or festivals like the one today. End of rant - thanks for reading.

I went opening weekend and I hope the experience has improved since I was there. There was a show that was outside and security as well as management gave me a problem for watching from the outside. (Rjd2 and slow magic) The streets and sidewalks of Asheville are public property and legally they have no right to say I cannot stand out on the street and watch. If they dont want people passing by to watch their outdoor shows, there should be a barricade or barrier around the establishment.

Really impressed by how intimate this venue was. I couldnt of asked for a better view of my favorite band. As well as great drink options. The only thing I would change would be the disconnect from the main bar in the front entrance from the actual venue. As a tourist I was not sure what to do or where to go oreven if I was in the right place. Once the 8pm show started at 11pm I was blown away!

I go to all of the venues in Asheville pretty regularly. I think New Mountain has the best sound in town next to the Orange Peel but whats nice is that at most shows here there is actually room to dance. I like the balconies as well. Drink prices are average for AVL.. 4 dollars for a beer and 5/6 for a mixed drink. Outdoor area is spacious and the venue draws a good crowd of locals. 5 stars

This place is everything it claims to be. I love when they have a big enough event that it takes over the whole building and I can spend all night running around to different areas for different music. I think there are three, excluding the amphitheater. The balcony overlooking the main stage is really fun, the bathrooms up there are not.

Well run music venue, but the air conditioning / ventilation in the main room is abysmal. Good selection of music... a bit granola for my tastes but still a great variety. Theyve been very active in community matters which is great, and the outdoor area is a welcome addition to the downtown music scene.

So we traveled up from charlotte to check out a show. The dude at the front sold us a ticket at 10:30. The vibe was cool but the show moved inside to the after party room at 11. So we paid $25 for a half hour of music. They said we could then buy after party tix for $15. Eff that, what a ripoff.

Paid 25 dollars for 30 minutes of music because apparently the show gets moved inside for an "after party" at 11 which is an ADITIONAL $15 ticket. The door guy chose to leave this information out when me and 3 of my friends bought tickets at 1030.

I bought a membership, the indoors is kinda like a dark warehouse. I saw the Bernie sanders team speak here, You can also come out and watch shows that are playing outdoors from the sidewalk & fencing, for free without having to pay to go in.

By far the sweetest up and coming music venue in the city! This place brings great talent through weekly as well as promising updates being made daily, its only getting better! Just built a kitchen... Next step is a brewery!

Best venue in Asheville. When there is a good event going on this is the place to be. Often times they have multiple stages with performances at the same time. Keep an eye on upcoming events here.

By far the best venue in town! Hands down! Even at maximum capacity you can still enjoy your self and head up to either of the two decks to see! The amphitheater outside is nice to!

Poorly run. Very Unorganized. Ive seen two shows there and both times, the sound quality was horrendous. Terrible, muddy sound. Great, hard working bar tenders.

Worst venue I have ever been to. No air conditioning in the summer heat made for a long set. I will never go to another event at New Mountain Asheville.
