Constructed on land where a bunch of huge gas tanks once stood, Elmhurst Park is a destination greenspace and the playscape found within the encompassing parkland earns the epic title with flying colors. You name it, this playground has got it: lots of swings for big kids, toddlers and special needs kids alike, a slide built into a stone hardscape, a toddler water sprinkler set apart from the big kid sprinkler (huge plus), shaded benches for parents to chill on, an innovative play zone with stationary bicycles and "engine room" sound units for communication games. Theres lots of shaded patches of grass in the surrounding parkland to throw down a blanket on, an astroturf field for sports, and a brand new relief facility within easy access. Only downside: its a milelong walk from the nearest subway stop. Extra bonus: theres a big hill in the center of the park for wintertime sledding.

A newer park (completed in 2011) -- with a famously expensive 2.3 million dollar boondoggle of a bathroom -- takes the place of an old unused industrial gasworks. Theres a rock formation to climb beside a long undulating slide, water sprays to play in during the summer, swings, a circular bike/walking path, a small soccer area at the south end, and a steep grass-covered hill in the center of the park that people enjoy running up and then rolling down.

Wonderful park but there is a new city park enploye in charge to maintain the park clean that is important but i think she is always ungry, cleaning under you feet, around your picnic, and telling you that she just cleaned up where you are. I love this park but every day. At last,she gets really mad if you leave water balloons on the floor or try to fill it up in the fountain.

Always crowded with kids. This is a "big" small park that appeals to the best of Queens. If you really want to see what a lovely and diverse place Queens is to live, take your kids here on a sunny, summer afternoon. My only complaint is to the adults who play soccer on the kids mini- field. Its ready mean for kids and the adults who play there kick the ball far too hard.

Lots of elderly women dancing in the morning to Chinese music, people running on the somewhat track like path, childrens playground, a bathroom, a large field for sports, workout machines outdoors(not the type normally seen in gyms), and beautiful scenery. Just a warning there are mosquitoes near the shaded entrance and people running around with dogs.

Beautiful park that replaced the disgusting gas tanks. Great place for a family stroll. This park is a win for the community where anyone could walk and enjoy the scenery. This is a great place for children to play in the new and modern playgrounds.

Loads of green grass and scenery. The playground is brand new and many kids come to the park. The officials sometimes do close some parts of the grass from time to time

The park was nice but only a small place to play soccer and other sports. Additionally, no basketball courts. Mainly a park for a quick walk in nature.

Very cute park that was recently built and done very nicely. Used to be huge gas tanks here. Now theres a mini field for kids to play.
