One shouldnt base a review of a place off of nostalgia--but on the real quality of a place. I grew up near a park that wasnt this one and although I love visiting it to relive the old days, its still a dumpy park. Now, of course, Astoria Park isnt dumpy. But theres room for improvement. Ignoring the roar of the bridge traffic (nothing a local alderman can do about that), the playground sprinkler needs a redo and the entire grounds and landscaping need serious attention. But the riverside location is very nice and the trees are plentiful and shady and yes, the pool and athletic areas are solid. And theres a lot of history here. All good positives. But a great city park needs to be more than rec facilities and jogging paths. It needs a real sense of escape and just a touch of wild nature. So, yeah, its a GOOD park, but far from a GREAT park.

Mucho verde, ardillas… impecable!

Astoria Park ~ Gorgeous, Family friendly, Hip. Astoria pk has grass, track field where the public can walk and in center lays a big patch of grass for anyone to play or sit on. There is a skate park, walking roads and some trails although not many specific trails but park roads and walking paths. The view is stunning my suggestion is spend the evening there with friends and or family bring a blanket, some snacks, wine and music or maybe a frisbee it is a very relaxed atmosphere. Great place to walk around and workout too. I do not recommend it for bike riding as it seems a bit congested there for that compared to other parks ive been to. Still very relaxing. Cleanliness level is at a medium high compared to just several years ago.

I love Astoria park .Its one of my favorite places.Has running track ,tennis courts playground and basketball courts. Also it has a pool thats free but its its free so there are strick rules at the pool .At the pool you can use locks that they sell .Food is sold there .The changing facilities are not beautiful. What I like the most is all the benches ,grass and trees. There is a parking and one can park by water. Its great to watch the boats go by in the river. There is also a bike lane by the water .I love the place .The only thing that would be very bad is if they take away parking by the water. That would be a disgrace.I love Astoria park.

A great local park to go to with many activities and a Olympic size pool and diving boards. There are tennis courts, basketball, running track and a skate park as well. Great for families with young kids or a couple looking for romance. Views of Manhattan or filled with sunsets and there are two bridges for a picturesque shot....a urban photographers dream come true. Events are held in the big field from dog training to small bands. Great picnic spots all around and or go for a nice run along the river.

Great park Have been visiting this park for the last 20 + years of my life. The landscape is great and its clean. The view from the waterfront is also one of the best in NYC. (Brooklyn waterfront view is slightly better). The only real complaint is that unlike other large parks, this park has very poor wifi coverage. Its available only on the track and ball fields. Lately the park has been getting more busy too so if you plan to run, I suggest coming at later hours to avoid the crowds.

Beautiful park with massive trees and a great view of Midtown. The two bridges (the Hellgate and the Triboro) define a large part of the parks views and both add a lot in their own right, especially the Hellgate. The water itself is also fun to watch, as the current is extremely strong and sometimes youll see a lot of whirlpools in the East River depending on whats going on in the Long Island Sound and the New York Upper Bay. Highly recommend coming here if youre around Astoria.

My favorite park in Astoria, Queens. The view is breathtaking no matter what time of the day or season. Ive been coming here for the last 15 years and Ive seen lots of improvements over the years. Congrats to the city for taking care of it! Kudos to the people visiting for keeping it clean too. Just the bikers are too loud and disruptive of the peaceful scene, what can we do? We got to share the planet with the inconsiderate too, but theyre not that many thankfully.

I love Astoria park - only suggestions I have is to open the deep end of the pool and put on some full time lifeguards... Just because someone died there 20 years ago its no excuse to close such an amazing place.... Only the shallow ends are open ... Give us a fun deep end to swim and dive in~ Also it would be great to open a fun coffee shop inside the park, outside tables - make it a place where I can have coffee or tea and gleefully come and read a good book

Beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline, RFK Bridge, and Randalls Island. Also boasts an outdoor track in reasonably good shape (especially for one open to the public and maintained by New York City), a very well-maintained and gigantic outdoor swimming pool open in warmer months, ample grass field areas for sport play, and picturesque tree-lined walking paths proving equally useful for the purposes of both the leisurely stroll and cross country type run.

I really enjoy Astoria Park. The whole park has a wonderful view of the east river and Manhattan. Situated right under a bridge to Manhattan. You can walk along the sidewalk near-ish the water or take the other short walking paths. The track is nice if you like to run or walk. Good place for a picnic get together and good place for families. Noticed a playground and basketball courts too. Lots of shade and trees but also opportunities to be in the sun.

Spacious, excellent views. Plenty of pedestrian, bike and running lanes. The park is well maintained, patrolled and generally safe. Plenty of parking, track, pool (try not to get on the bad side of any door staff as they will look for any petty excuse imaginable to deny entry), tennis courts, fireworks watching (get there early), playground, picnic, seating... However, finding a decent operational bathroom is a challenge.

Close to a mile of waterfront paved running trails, shaded basket ball courts, an actual Olympic pool with the diving platforms and free adult entry in the early morning. A skateboarding/BMX park, a full 1/4 mile running track and a sun bathing grassy lawn. Not to mention beautiful views across the way to UES. All packed into a space near the Astoria Blvd station; I almost would rather it stay Astorias best kept secret!

A nice place to chill or just go for a stroll. Theres some spaces to park all around the park, so if youre driving there, its not too hard to find one, since its not as overly crowded as say...Manhattan. Theres a pool too thats open during the Summer so if youre looking for a dip to cool off, theres that. But its fairly small, so if youre the type to explore nature and such, theres not much to see.
