This is a great place to stroll through! You get a little look back in time, like a time capsule! Inside there are small grouping of era appropriate kitchen, livingrooms, pharmacy ect. Then there are the special exhibits like wedding dresses or my fav Shoes from the unbelievably old though the "I wore thoughs!!" and every thing in between. And lets not forget to mention the canal boat room where youg and old alike can enjoy playing at living and working on a canal boat! The frontier room where chidren put their hand to the butter churn in front of the big fire place. Strolling around outside is a delight in and out of one room schoolhouse or the Barbershop/ photography studio, Greman chruch and the big Victorian to the liltle houses that housed so many, take your time and enjoy, you can go on event days or my fav alone or with a friend for a quiet walk, this place is a treasure.

This is a good museum if you know what to expect. I had the idea that this would be a village with dozens of buildings to see. This place has only 12 structures and of those, a few have little or no description. They had, for example, a blacksmith shop with no descriptions and no one inside to explain or demonstrate. On the other hand the museum has a nice indoor museum with great displays of radio, the prohibition and a wonderful Erie Canal room thats great for kids.

A great place to spend time with your family. The village area has about a dozen houses from the 1800s with animals and interpretation. The indoor museum area tells story of the growth out of the city of Buffalo and into the suburbs and rural areas with the expansion of the Erie Canal.
