I booked the Evening Lantern Tour for Juy 5th, 2016 on Lockport Caves online website. My credit card was charged, I received a confirmation email for the reservation and I was excited about the experience. I made the reservation 8 days in advance. It was a Fathers Day gift as well. Both my father and I have been wanting to do this tour for some time. He told me how my aunt participated in it not long ago. The email suggested we arrive 15 minutes early so we arrived at the office on Gooding St. around 7:10. The tour was supposed to begin at 7:30. Much to our surprise and disappointment, the office was closed and dark and no cars were in the parking lot. It was a beautiful evening, weather was fine. Several people were walking below, exploring the locks. 7:30 rolls around and still no one showed up. I decided to call the office number to leave a message and I did so explaining the situation. Rightfully so, both my father and I were upset; he coming from Angola drove a good 75 minutes and me from Cheektowaga, 40 minutes. Hes an older fella and doesnt like to drive long distances. In any event, we made the most of it and walked around the canals, checked out the museum and marveled at the engineering that was used to construct these canal locks. I called the office again at 10:15 the following morning and, due to tours being conducted, no one could pick up. I left a second message. I received a phone call a half hour later from the tour guide, who was absolutely nice and thoughtful. She explained to me that the lantern tour was not being conducted anymore because of construction, I believe. She apologized profusely and told me that it should not have been in the computer calendar system and should have been taken out long ago. She explained Ill receive a refund in a matter of weeks. I havent received the refund as of yet and I expect that itll be credited to my account shortly. I didnt ask nor was I offered a discount to an upcoming tour. Im disappointed to see that that particular tour is still be offered on their website if one were to search specifically for the lantern tour on a search engine. And you can still make a reservation for the discontinued lantern tour. I recommend that if you are so inclined to book a tour with Lockport Caves, call ahead the day of to make sure that it hasnt been canceled. They do say they have the right to cancel at any time in their disclaimer.

Tour was cancelled. Owner said he called and emailed. Never received either. When I called to complain he was very rude. I used my work email, he called my main office to tell them I was rude. Not sure what my place of employment had to do with this. Do you think I would travel 45 minutes for no reason. Just was told again Tom the owner emailed my office for the second time. You have my phone number if you want to contact me... You have this so people can write reviews... I received my refund on the email .. Not sure why I didnt receive an email that tour was cancelled. My work place has nothing to do with this. Tom if you dont want reviews dont ask for them. Trying to bash me isnt the way to handle this issue.

My husband and I went for the haunted caves tour near Halloween. In the beginning we were really excited seeing the setup and the location, but when the tour started it was such a big disappointment. At every stop there would be a person dressed up in a costume and would be telling a so called scary story and after that he would ask you to proceed to his friend who is waiting. Last but not the least the boat ride is biggest disappointment. They will make you all sit in a boat and would row for 5 mins and then bring it back to the initial point. If you want to experience the caves then do it some other time not during HAlloween, because they charge so much during these days. DO NOT PAY FOR THAT STUPID BOAT RIDE.

If you want to go somewhere that has bad customer service I would go here for sure. The place closes at 5 on Fridays. My boyfriend and I got there around 4 plenty of time before 5. We had issues making a reservation online so we decided to try anyways. The building said it was closed but we saw people walking up from the caves. When we walked down the women working very rudely said "can I help you!?" When we told her we wanted to take the boat ride she again answered back very rude with "were closed! Thats why Im cleaning the boat." We have both never been there and wanted to try it but Im never going there again.

This is a great tour! You have to make reservations ahead of the tour, but you will be pleasantly surprised and informed by the Cave Tours knowledgeable guides. I learned several new facts about the Erie Barge Canal, its construction, its use, and its future. Our guide, Mark, regaled us with poignant stories regarding the construction of the caves by Irish immigrants, and how it was rediscovered by an errant taxi cab. This is a great experience for your out-of-town friends who are not afraid of a little walking, standing, and climbing.

While looking for something to do to kill time while in town i stumbled upon this, and it was awesome. The whole town of Lockport is beautiful and the history behind it fascinating. Our tour guide Teagan was great, she was energetic and very informative. The caves were awesome and the boat ride was fun but the walking part of the tour was just as good and informative. I would definitely suggest this to anyone who is in the area!

A good tour in a old world town. The front desk lady was extremely courteous and the tour guide Alexander did his part with a lot of heart. It is a different experience. Though a man-made cave, it is still a big deal if the history is something to go by. I would recommend it as a different and interesting experience, educational for kids too. Kids felt a little letdown that the zipline was not ready yet

Once I saw this place on Ghost Hunters, I had to make the 31/2 hour trip hear to tour this place. The dude selling the tickets was very friendly, and our tour guide Jason was excellent. Very knowledgeable, courteous, and made the group part of the experience. No ghost....at least that I came across :-) but well worth it. I highly recommend it . Especially if you are interested in history of Lockport .
