I think the other reviews illustrate a pattern that is consistent with our experience at this restaurant on 7/31/2016. The restaurant owners/management should clearly make an investment in properly training staff members in servicing guests properly so that service issues are not repeatedly pointed out in reviews - especially when the restaurant is named "The Standard." Our experience at this restaurant could have easily been 4 stars, if not 5, had the waiter/bartender been more attentive to us, more responsive to our requests, and placed more importance in fulfilling our requests above his duties in cleaning the bar area. Our group consisted of 5 people. We sat at the bar because we saw 5 seats right next to each other and we wanted a quick meal since we had a busy day planned. We were sitting right at the center of the bar area but the bartender did not acknowledge us for at least 20 minutes, at which point he offered one person in the group a menu but not the rest. At this point one of our group told him we were all really hungry and quickly placed an appetizer order to get us started. 10 minutes later, he gave the rest of us our menus. Another 10 minutes to get us our waters. Some 8-10 minutes after that, he comes back to take our drink orders, which he doesnt immediately service, but takes his time with. It is at least a 20 minutes after he serves us our drinks that he comes to even take my order. I was about 3/4ths of the way done with my drink. At this point, he takes our order and then disappears for another 20 minutes. I had an empty glass for at least 20 minutes before he comes back to ask if I would like another. Our food takes about an hour to come out. We complain to the bartender and he offers to comp us our appetizers to make it up - which was nice. After about another 25 minutes, we get our meals. Once we finish our meals, we are all sitting there for at least 25 minutes with no attention from the bartender, who is busy cleaning glasses, cleaning the bar area, and fulfilling drinks (very rarely). We all try to get his attention, no response. Some of us start making louder comments to ask the closest one to see if the bartender can get us our check. Nope. In the end, one of us had to hail down the manager to get our check. All this while, the bartender was mostly at the bar and was mostly doing sidework, like cleaning glasses, etc. He could easily have looked up to see we were in need of service and could have engaged us in a way to make us feel comfortable. The manager was kind enough to take 25% off our menu (which raised this review by one star), but all of this could have been avoided if the bartender was properly trained or was motivated to just give his customers attention, instead of doing sidework. The restaurant was really not that busy, there were a number of empty tables behind us, so there just was no excuse for the terrible service. The food was decent, I had a pasta dish that was delicious, but the lobster chowder is disgusting. Please stay clear from it. The soup wasnt creamy so much as it was gelatinous. It had a gross texture and was somewhat tasteless. Overall, probably never going to eat at this restaurant again. Had been here a couple times before with mediocre experiences so it wont be getting any more chances from me.

Let me start by saying that I read all the reviews before my husband and I went here. I was willing to give it a chance. We got seated and ordered our drinks. We ordered within a few minutes. Our app came out and it was still very hot. I then finished my drink. We decided that the food was ok, standard, nothing special (see all the other reviews). It was quite interesting watching our waiter talk to these two women at another table. He spent 95% of the time that we were there talking to them. Then he came over and asked how the app was (of course we had already finished by this time) and then I got a refill. Our food came out shortly after and was not brought by our waiter. I ordered the SantaFe Chicken Wrap. It was a wrap, lettuce, tomato, super dry and overcooked season chicken. No dressing, or anything. I picked the chicken out of half of the wrap. We then finished, and guess who came back? I told him that I didnt enjoy the wrap, it was dry, there was no dressing... He offered to box the remaining half for me so I could take it home. How thoughtful? He brought back the wrapped food and the check. I was contemplating why we couldnt order dessert. I was so frustrated so I decided I would just pay the bill. Of course we waited for him to leave the other table to come back so he could process our payment. I couldnt decided on leaving no tip, leaving $1 and writing on the bill why, or leaving half a normal tip. I decided on a more than generous 7.5%. I really wanted to leave $0 or $1 but I just didnt have it in me. On our way out I asked to speak to the manager. She defended the waiter! Then she offered me a free app on our next visit! Our next visit???!!! I declined as we will not be returning. I did think to myself I just spent $60 and you are only offering an app? Did you not just hear that we would have wanted dessert? She could have been more apologetic. But as previously stated we will not be returning. I do not and will not recommend!

- Appetizer plate was dirty. Waitress took it away once we mentioned it and asked for a new one. Didnt bring a new one back. We had to ask her again. - Tried to order smoothie. Machine was broken, possibly. At least thats what they told me. In the past Ive been denied smoothies or shakes because of a "broken machine." This mango smoothie was erroneously added to the bill even though it was never made. It was then removed. - Someone forgot salad dressing on my family members salad. It was ordered along with the salad, so it should have been written down. Had to ask for it again. - Ordered edamame as an app, it was overcooked (pods fell apart instead of popping) and oversalted. There was a noodle in it (?) . - No dipping sauce for bread, just butter pats. Bread was good, though. - I ordered the veggie burger. Bun was halfway between a pretzel bun and a storebought 6-pack of buns bought for a barbecue. It tasted like a carnival snack. It was basted in butter, which some people may like, I guess? I didnt. Whats this restaurants obsession with butter all about? And whats the point of adding the extra fat if it cant be tasted? Burger itself was bland. There was a big hunk of greasy cheese on the burger, which I didnt care for. Ketchup didnt arrive until I was already halfway done with the burger. - Ordered sweet potato fries as a side. They were rather soggy and bland as well. - Bruschetta wasnt bad. Salad was adequate (its only leafy greens and vegetables after all, cant be too hard). I feel like this restaurant doesnt have a "thing" yet. So far its tons of old photos of Audrey Hepburn and William Powell and generic American/Italian/meat/carb-y food. But then they threw in some dishes like edamame to make it seem more foreign. What are they going for? But, then again, its in a mall, so what did I expect? Will never go again. Its a Saturday-night-desperate restaurant.
