About a year ago I booked the Basking Ridge Country Club for my wedding ceremony, and their in-house Fair Winds Catering Service for my reception. Initially it was amazing, a beautiful setting, any they were willing to do what ever we wanted to make our wedding day special..... right up until they got our $1,000 down payment, then things began to change. My wife wanted a pug to be a ring bearer (I wasnt too thrilled about this, but hey, Im just there to say "I do"). During our original talks with the manager I was told this wouldnt be a problem. As soon as she got our deposit, we were informed that "you can still have the pug, but oh, it cant come in the building" .... funny, thats what I call a problem. How are we supposed to have the pug walk down the isle if its not allowed in the building? Where was that little tid-bit of information a week before I cut you a check? During the initial meeting we also discussed how in my wifes culture, it was an important tradition to have a pig roast, and that a family member be the one to roast the pig. We discussed this with the manager and once again there was no problem. But as soon as they got our money they suddenly remembered that we could only have a family member roast a pig if they were a licensed and insured caterer. When we told them we dont have any family members who meet the qualification, they said wed just need to have them do it - for an extra cost. Later on I asked a friend of mine who owns a restaurant, and he told me that typically guest cooks are not required to be licensed, and that they would be covered under the facilities business insurance. Although I cant be 100% certain this applied to Basking Ridge / Fair Winds, its highly probably that they were lying, and regardless they chose to mislead us at the original meeting. All this in just 1 week after getting our money. Needless to say we backed out before they could alter the deal any further. There were other issues where prices changed or increased after the deposit was made, but this is already becoming a pretty lengthy review. If you want a cookie-cutter wedding, dictated to you by their manager, then this is the place for you - but if you want to have your special day your way, dont trust these people. They are deceitful and dishonest. I will add that my only qualm was with the manager (whos name I am intentionally leaving out). The facility was wonderful, and the food was delicious. I can only imagine how beautiful that place is in the fall. We were disappointed when we made the decision to back out, but the relationship began deteriorating rapidly once they got a portion of our money, who knows how the wedding day wouldve gone if they had all our cash upfront (which was one of their conditions).

If I could leave less than one star after the way they handled my wedding, I would. While the facility is pretty, and scenic the service the day of left something to be desired. After there was an issue with the main course (at a wedding?!) it took about 25 minutes for something to be slapped together to try to make it a bit better - a second portion of certain food; however most plates had been cleared by the time this option was offered. People couldnt have more. People actually left my wedding hungry - something I was assured ad nauseum would not happen and would not be an issue. After I expressed these concerns and some others to the venue, I was shocked at the level of curt responses received. I asked to be contacted by the owners on several occasions and no one will talk to me. They basically abandoned any promises made. All I can say is the venue over promised, and under-delivered. Certainly heed my warning for this venue - they talk a good game.

I recently had the opportunity to play at Basking Ridge Country Club and was quite impressed. The course was scenic and in immaculate condition with lush fairways and meticulously groomed greens. The 18 holes were challenging yet fair, and was enjoyed by golfers of all levels in our foursome. The staff was friendly and eager to assist us, adding to the overall experience. With the restaurant, DH Outpost onsite, we were able to enjoy drinks and food following our round. The pool had been closed for the season, but the whole facility seemed very family friendly. I highly recommend Basking Ridge Country Club.

One of the best, most accommodating, and friendliest country clubs Ive played. My buddies and me won the foursome at a golf event, so we are not members. From the moment we arrived at the club to the minute we left, the staff - pro shop, starters and rangers - all went out of their way to make us feel like members. I cant tell you how many times during the round the range stopped to ask if everything was good and if we were enjoying the round and the course. Highly recommend playing Basking Ridge if you get the chance.

I had my wedding here, and everything was absolutely perfect! Stephanie, the wedding coordinator, was organized and responsive. Walter, the new chef, was very flexible with allergen-free meals, and we could tell he really loves his craft. His braised short rib blew us away at our tasting, and 2 months later our guests are still talking about it and the mashed potato bar. The venue decor was nice and fancy without being over the top, and the service was stellar and made us feel taken care of and special.

First time playing the course and I have to say I was very impressed. Conditions were beautiful and course was very challenging. I felt like I was on the PGA Tour. After our round we ate at the outdoor bar area. Service was great and the food was very good. I very much appreciated the invite and hope to play there again next season. I would highly recommend a membership to those in the area.

I had a chance to play at BRCC on July 4th with my son. The course is immaculate. Its as if youre standing on carpet when in fact, youre on the fairway. The greens played well and not slow. Ive only played this course one other time and still cant get over how well its maintained. I highly recommend a membership to this course to any individuals, families or corporations. Its awesome!!!

What a great club! The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. The golf course was in phenomenal shape for the beginning of April, and was tough but fair to play. I was forced to use every club in the bag, shape shots both ways, and the greens rolled fast and true. My kind of course!

Thorough, professional and first-class all the way. Everyone raved about the food and the service was excellent, too. Stephanie was a pleasure to work with and helped make my dads 90th birthday party a huge, happy success.
