I read many reviews here. My back ground included customer service and food service, too. Let me post this honestly as I can. If your are looking for friendly customer service, well, Ameristar is not the place. Ameristar casino catered only to upper class and nothing more. I had been around all three casinos for quite a long time and visited regularly quite often. Ameristar casino staffs have issues serving anyone lighter than their skins. I was a witness and victim to that quite a few times. Nowadays, if I go there, I careless about their services along with whether they will serve me. I do agree with many of the negativities in the many other reviews. Please understand that whats going on at Ameristar Casino in Council Bluff came from the top not just employees. Many executives at this establishment are driven by numbers. P& L is most important data to these people. They are not here to cater the everyday people but just the rich ones. I do not spend money at this establishment other than for a soda, that is maybe. Most friendly of the three will be Horse Shu Casino. If you enter the Ameristar they will judge you as you walk in. This will determine whether they will acknowledge you or say hello with smile. Nine out of ten they will look at you like you are criminal. Buffett servers will ignore us except we chase them down for drinks. It is shame because there are some good employees there. Some waitresses at the sport bar will flirt shamelessly with customers. Some bakery servers refused to serve the darker skins until I complaint to casino manager at that time. And they will give free food for those errors. I told them many times, I just want them to fix the problems and I am gladly pay for the bakery items. The problems will not fix and apparently, no one in Ameristar casinos staff give a care. The point is Ameristar Casino took their customers for granted and nothing will change until the rich ones stop gambling there or we all can stop going there. This is just my experiences and my opinions. I do believed in one customer complaint about making up stories to keep them out of casino. Because they did that to me but the security later found out that I was not at fault. No apology but they did leave me alone after that. Simple thing in life is we as customers have choice not to visit there but if you had chosen to do business with them please take a note of this post and be aware. If you do not have expectation maybe you may have better experience than others who visited there before you.

For the people who posted a review within the passed year and had nothing be negativity to say are probably the people who dont understand or have do not have any experience in casino services or food and beverage. My experiences there have always been great. The buffet staff are really easy to make friends with. quality and service is better than the other two casinos. Sunday champagne brunch is probably the most difficult shift of the entire week for the buffet staff. And after working in food before, I understand.. People dont know what goes on behind those "employee doors." Its not just the servers, or cashiers, or managers that take part in the service. behind the people you see right in front of you serving, there are the "support" job roles; busser/stockers, and the hard workers in their dish room who have to stand in the heat of steam all day. And those dish room workers are not only working for the buffet, they work for the cafe/bakery and banquets as well...Therefore, if something goes wrong in the dish room (dishwasher breaking down, or just simply falling behind) the busser or stocker cant get what they need to provide the servers, which then makes it seem like the server is giving bad service.. So before you go blaming your server for everything when most likely you already have had a bad day for losing a bunch of money in the casino like an idiot, think about the things going on behind-the-scenes.. As for the casino, I cant say too much. I dont gamble. But keep in mind security there are just security guards. nothing special. they are not what you see in movies (guys wearing black suits) Those guys are completely different. The girls working cocktail already have it rough. Most of those girls dont wear those uniforms because thats what they like to wear. they wear it because it helps them make money. Young girl constantly getting harassed by dirty old folks probably isnt all that fun to deal with 5 days/nights a week... Anyways, people go into a business, look around, and say your getting bad service..the place may not look busy to them, but you dont actually know unless your working it.

I dont like writing negative reviews but this casino cannot continue to operate this way if they want decent clientele. Me, my wife, and another couple went to Ameristar for family members 21st birthday party. The moment we walked we were greeted with the realization that this was a smoking casino with little to no venting. The smell was overpowering from the moment we walked in the doors, and I wonder how many years were deducted from my life from all the smoke I inhaled. I get it smoking is allowed, but for goodness sake find a way to install vents! If they are installed at least clean them, change the filter, replace them whatever. I weep for the children who were running around. Once we found our party at the Amerisports restaurant and bar we sat ourselves as indicated on the sign and settled in for a fun night...we were wrong. The place was decently full, but not overcrowded. Our waitress got to taking our first drink order in roughly 10 minutes, these first drinks arrived 30 minutes later. The food order we placed took took over an hour to fulfill. The best part about the food was that after an hour of waiting, it came to the table cold and parts luke warm. We were starving by this point and just needed something to stave off the hunger pangs so we ate what was passble. We also saw at least one other table that was waiting and had a party of 25 just get up and leave. The birthday girl and other guests who arrived an hour ahead of us still had not received their food. By the time they did, two hours had passed! When the manager finally made an appearance we were all comped our food and drinks. Also another round of drinks was given to all of us for our troubles, they even got that wrong! We each had call liquor drinks, and they were given to us as cheap well drinks instead. All in all this was the 2ND worst service experience I have ever had. The only saving grace was that our waitress was still nice and tried to make an excuse for the casino. Needless to say I dont think I will step foot in Ameristar again, and I will tell everyone I know to avoid it at all costs.

This review is only in regards to the casino because I havent fully experienced its full amenities. Large bright sign seen from the side of the road and the casino shared the same parking lot as the Hampton Inn, which was where I stayed for the night. I cant really recall the last time I went to a casino, so why not check one out while Im here?! Upon entering, I noticed all the pretty holiday lights and the signs pointing to the casino surely cant be missed. Before deciding where Ill test my luck, I surveyed the 3 floors of tables and slots. Each section was different. Most of the nickel/penny slots are on the 3rd floor. All the tables are on the 2nd (main), while the 1st floor included many dollar slots. I had a limit of $20 and 30 minute limit. Finally, I plopped myself at a $5 minimum BlackJack table. The dealer was really nice and so were the people at the table. 30 minutes later, I gained an extra $5 and cashed out. Free self-served soda/water stations throughout the casino. If you wanted alcoholic drinks, there were plenty of waitresses to take orders. Smoking is allowed inside as a heads up. All the staff I encountered was genuinely friendly even upon exiting. If Im in the area, Id test my luck again here.
