is retro bowl open today because it is Easter΅ On 2/21/15 our family and friends decided it may be fun to bowl that evening. I specifically called at 1pm to determine the rules. I was told first come first serve for open bowl starting at 6pm. Our family showed up at 6:30 pm and put our name on this list. At 9:30 pm we finally decided to leave. Several lanes were held unused for something called "silver dollar" bowling, lanes were given to people who showed up after us, there were dozens of angry people and 3 clearly unqualified people running the place. It was so poorly done it was almost comical. The only reason this poorly run place is still in business is by my guess that the owner just doesnt care, and there isnt any competition to make them change. I hope someone opens a decent bowling alley in the North land and puts them out of business.believe to be an AVM, causing her brain to swell and bleed. Ashley was in the intensive care unit at KUMC for five weeks where she was on life support a majority of the time. However, thanks to the many prayers and well wishes of friends, neighbors and the residents of this town, she is on her way to recovery. Ashley will be going to rehabilitation for some time, but should recover completely. Our family believes that your love and support made all the difference. So to our friends, family, neighbors and those of you we have never met….you have my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude. However, I believe those same people are owed an apology as well. Ashley has worked at the Retro Bowl since her sophomore year at Liberty High School. She graduated in May and continued her employment to help pay tuition at Maple Woods. When Ashley was hospitalized a fund for her was established. The Retro Bowl accepted the donations intended for her. I believe the generous people of Liberty along with friends of Ashleys were misled. The owners of Retro Bowl, Bob and Marge Stambursky do not intend to gift Ashley or her mother who is caring for her with these funds. They have informed me they will donate this money to Kansas University Medical Center on behalf of Ashley. Ashleys hospital bill will be covered by my insurance. However, Ashleys mother had to give up her job to take care of Ashley as she is wheelchair bond and unable to do so herself. They are being evicted among other immediate needs and the money you donated is not available to them. We want to set the record straight, we did not ask Retro Bowl to collect for our daughter. We also want you to know we believe you were deceived about its destination. Again all my thanks, A grateful father, John Todd Boyer

September 17, 2007 My deepest gratitude and sincerest apology to the people of Liberty As many of you are aware my beautiful daughter Ashley Boyer has endured a catastrophic event in her young life. On June 12, 2007 while bowling with friends she suffered what the medical professionals believe to be an AVM, causing her brain to swell and bleed. Ashley was in the intensive care unit at KUMC for five weeks where she was on life support a majority of the time. However, thanks to the many prayers and well wishes of friends, neighbors and the residents of this town, she is on her way to recovery. Avoid this place at all cost. I looked for several bowling alleys that were family friendly as I was trying to take my children out for a special occasion with some friends. There website repeats family fun. We went for the Monday night unlimited bowl and the staff were very rude, but had no idea what they were doing. They couldnt tell us a price without talking to the manager or figure out how to set up the lanes. When asked if the employee was new, they state they had been there for several months. When on your lane in the background there are what looks like projector screens playing music videos. Unfortunately most music videos they play are anything but family friendly as very provocative videos and songs are played that are certainly not for children. At 9:30 more bowlers showed up and then the turned the volume of the music way up to the point you feel like your at a club. When asked to turn down the volume as children are here they laughed and said they have no control over the volume, but 5 minutes later increased the volume at the request of the other bowlers. At 9:30 they closed their kitchen and even though the signs say their kitchen is open. All of their staff was in the dinning area eating several different items from the menu at around 10:00, but we were constantly told the kitchen is closed. We wanted to speak to a Manger as this was poor business practice, and after 20 minutes she showed up. She looked like she had been sleeping and a strong odor of alcohol was on her breathe. After 2p minutes she refunded our money, but kept demanding for us to listen to what she was saying. Please avoid at all costs.
