I took my daughter and two friends from out of state to the toy museum and it was wonderful. There was so much to look at and we only had about 4 hours. We kept moving at a good pace but still couldnt really enjoy everything because we were in such a hurry just to see everything. It was expensive to go and if the price were a little cheaper we would be sure to go back often. It is one of those places that if you go more than once you will notice things that you missed on previous trips. Great time and activity for the kids.

I loved it. There are so many miniature paintings- they are really amazing, but theyve miniaturized everything under the sun so I think everyone is going to find things they like. The toys are neat for looking at how times have changed and reminiscing, but Im more about the miniature section. Tickets are inexpensive and its a really clean modern museum. I think it would be a fun thing to do for families in combination with something else because youll probably only spend an hour there with kids.

Such a wonderful experience! The amount of detail put into early era doll houses, and miniatures was fantastic! Really cool that they had the lights working in the majority of the houses and dioramas. Then on the second floor it was great to see toys I vividly remember playing with as a kid. Im not a big wizard of oz fan, but even that was laid out well. It also had characters that Ive never even heard of! So that really caught my attention.

I worked across the street from the museum for 23 years. This is not really a review, but a reply to comments in two of the reviews listed here. Both have the same complaint - - the lack of toys per se. Theres a reason for that, however. The museum began as the collections of two women, Mary Harris Francis and Barbara Marshall, and it reflects their tastes and interests, which were largely in miniatures.

Huge collection of doll houses and miniatures ... the latter of which were just fascinating. However, I felt that it lacked a good collection of general toys. They had some that were older than the hills. I would like to see something that displays toys from all generations, including stuff from the 70s and 80s. That would be nostalgic and a trip down memory lane for me.

Es un Museo muy entretenido, puedes pasar mucho tiempo viendo los detalles de las miniaturas sin aburrirte. Hay tanto para ver. Además es precio es muy económico

This museum was a real surprise to me. Im not a doll or dollhouse guy, but the art and technique that went into the miniatures on the first floor is amazing. Youll be amazed. They also have videos showing how some of the miniatures are made. A real plus! Upstairs they have a huge collection of interesting toys for your childhood, no matter what generation you are in.

A fun and fantastic journey through toys over the years! This little museum is definitely one of Kansas City’s own unique treasures and an adventure that will capture the imagination of young and old alike. It is open daily year-round, except for Tuesdays and major holidays, and at the time of this writing, only 5 bucks for children ages 5 to 100.

If you are interested in doll houses and minitures then this is the place for you. I couldnt believe how many doll houses and minitures there were. They are displayed beautifully. As far as childrens toys, there are some. I think this is more collectable based than something that displays large amounts of americana based toys.

I am from MD and was able to visit this toy museum just before it closed to update. I was really disappointed the last 2 times I visited friends in Olathe because it still wasnt open. Hurray it is open again. Cant wait to see it again. It was wonderful before and know it will be even better now.

This is a wonderful museum for kids and for adults. The first floor is all miniatures, which is my favorite. The second has a large collection of historic toys--it might make you nostalgic! Lots of parking available. Great for a family trip, or even for a date.

Took my kids here for an outing. I really enjoyed seeing all the old toys from my childhood. They also had a scavenger hunt and the kids won a prize if they were able to solve the clues and find the toys.

The miniatures section is impressive and truly stunning, but all the detail can be a lot to process. The toy section is very interesting and offers nostalgia for people of all ages.

This is a really nice experience, and is truly two museums in one, as either the toy or the miniatures section could easily stand on its own. Id highly recommend a visit!

Extremely amazing to see such skilled work. It is really cool to see how skilled these artists who make the miniatures are! The history of toys is also pretty cool.

Interesting collection of finely crafted miniature things and a few toys from the past. Expect to spend a couple of hours if you are just remotely interested.

Took my niece here and loved it! Next time I go I am going with no kids! hahaha I think I got more out of it than she did (she did have a good time though).

Worth the $5 but its all about doll house miniatures, not ONE electric train set in their collection.... which makes it a skewed collection with an agenda!

Went in to kill an hour, stayed for 3 hours! Be warned, this is not for the super young, but 9 years old or older would be fine. Too much fun!
