Set up to play with the regular. My friends and I bought groupgolf for this course. Unfortunately, all of us were not able to play the same day and we ended up being a twosome. The ranger held back a foursome until we showed up and had us play in front of the foursome. Before we went out he warned us that there was a single in front of us, if we catch up to him, the single was told he had to play with us. Strange comment right, why would we catch up? Guy ended up being a total drunk super talker guy. Never shut up for 18 holes. The foursome kept hitting into us. He talked through all of my shots. He took forever to tee off. He bragged about playing there all the time. THEN at the turn, all of the bar staff knew him and continued to over serve him, kind of bad became really bad. Honestly, it felt like a set up by the staff, 2 unsuspecting women out to have a nice day of golf are stuck with this ridiculous situation. Seriously, some obnoxious drunk starts hitting on me in a social setting, I can walk away. We were STUCK with this person for hours!!! I thought the game would never end. The course was unmemorable because of this situation. We both want our money and time back.

Always a great time at a great course. The Orchards, IMO, is top 3 golf courses in Southeast Michigan, right up there with Fieldstone and Shepherds Hollow. The condition of the course is always high, the layout is near perfect, and pace of play is usually quite good. The pace of play is due to the good layout. Everything is right in front of you on this golf course. Rarely are you hitting to a blind area, and blind areas cause players to search for golf balls when they hit it off line. One of the nice things the Orchards does in the fall is aerate half of the green at a time, placing the pin on the "good" side while the other side heals, so hitting those 4 foot putts that bounce 2 inches off line doesnt happen. About the only thing I would change on this course is how they often have the par 3s set up, where the youre hitting nearly the same club on all 4 shots. Last time I played the shortest hole was 140, and the longest was 170. Also, they should change to yellow range balls, or put a plastic fence up between the first hole and the driving range, because if you hit your first tee shot left, youll be looking for your ball in a sea of other white range balls.

Approachable course, wide fairways, large greens, not the best in and near Washington Michigan, but a pretty good course and nice but not special club house. Thats the place. The people - not all of them, just the ones in charge - are another story. They tend to act as if this ordinary course is something special and that they are doing you a favor by letting you play there. They - again, not all, just the manager types, are boorish, overbearing and downright insulting. I didnt see many women on the course. Maybe that was just a coincidence; but, based on the obnoxious behavior of management staff members, I wouldnt be surprised if this is a particularly unfriendly place for women to golf. In an area that is full of good golf courses, I certainly dont plan to visit The Orchards again.

Right from the start, we were told 16 minutes per hole is allowed time. What pressure, cant even enjoy the game. Rangers come around constantly to remind you of your time. 4 of us played 9 holes. They put a twosome in front of us and a twosome behind us. Why not put the 4 together, So the twosome behind us didnt have to play up on us. We finished one minute late.. Horrible experience. Rangers have attitudes. Dont need that, when trying to have a relaxing time outdoors. Plenty of other courses nearby, play another course if you want to have a good time. We were going to eat lunch afterwards but we were afraid we had a time limit on lunch too!

Wow what a great fall day in Michigan. Being that I was only a single and there was foursomes on the tee, I was directed to start on #2, THANK YOU! The course was in amazing shape and the greens were fantastic (no aeration and rolling). Speed of play was as fast as I could play as a single. My only complaint was that there were a number of holes that were still cart path only and some of this was due to the recent rain. Staff was great and the cart girl was around a couple of different times. Love this course and the fall colors were in full array. Hell, the sun even came out 3/4 of the way through the round and made the day even better.

In the past this course is a top course in the area. This year I am not impressed with the pros in the pro shop or the greens and the fairways and roughs are not in the best shape. Every time the staff is rude outside of the wait staff those ladies get a gold star. Last time I was there the employee told his boss on me because I didnt understand why I couldnt play when the course was wide open. If this course was in better shape I would say you can act like you got a gem. But this course has lost its charm. Huge bummer.

Ive played Orchards many times and feel its one of the top 3 public courses in SE Michigan. My suggestion is prepare mentally to play Ready Golf. The rangers are on full patrol. Also, if you play as a twosome are paired with another twosome who are particularly slow players, let the clubhouse and rangers know immediately so they split you up.

Its a pricey track but its worth it. The Orchards is not for beginners or even the occasional golfer. Youve got to know how to read the greens, tee shot placement is a premium and it plays long. Feint of heart players will be adding to their handicap. I love the challenge and highly recommend it if good golf is a passion of yours.

New GPS system. Cart stop if you shouldnt be in that area. Helps to keep up the course. Accurate GPS and you have the option to drag and drop on the screen...takes out the need for a laser (almost). Great practice facility as well.

Awesome course, one of the best. Greens are phenomenal and the course is excellently maintained. Carts have GPS, staff is great, play is never slow. Cant go wrong here, you get what you pay for unlike some other courses in the area.

Good practice area with large putting and chipping greens and grass driving range. Nice course with enough danger to be challenging but also enjoyable.

This course is like being up North. A definite favorite with lots of elevation changes, excellent use of the land and a very good challenge.
