The historic Howell Theater has once again reopened! However, this time, instead of going head to head with the large cine-plexes showing the same big name spectacles, they have turned it into something truly special. Now they show past favorites as well as newer independent films that may not have made it to the larger theaters. Be sure to check out their website for current showings as they only run for about a week at a time. The historic building has been renovated, though still retains its classic charm. This place is an old-school haven for movie lovers who dont require the latest 3D effects, enormous screens or stadium seating. Do yourself a favor and take a break from the overcrowded movieplex and check this place out. One last note, and I cant believe Im saying this, but the popcorn was incredible. Its just like regular movie popcorn, but for some reason I just could not stop eating it. The owner also handed us a bag for the road on our way out of the movie Saturday night. How nice!

I had two different experinces at the Howell theatre. The good: Both trips the customer service was acceptable, prompt and courteous. The theatre and bathrooms were clean and there is plenty of nice displays. Its not a modern theatre with stadium seating, but comfortable chairs with good sound. The bad: Today the theatre was freezing. Everyone in the theatre left their winter coats on and one patron brought a blanket. Clearly she knows how cold it gets. I love popcorn and this is good popcorn. However, when you say butter and salt, you should get butter and salt. Last week, the clerk did a much better job at seasoning then the clerk today. I feel like the bad is nitpicking on my part, but I go to Howell theatre for the classic films and small theatre charm.

What a fantastic theater. A mixture of the world of Bradburys Every Town America mixed with the charm of Dante and Spielberg and served up as a vibrant indie theater. The staff was friendly and helpful, the lobby atmosphere reminded you why you love films, the theater was clean, the image and sound were fantastic, and the entire place gave a wonderful feeling of nostalgia. I have been to a lot of theaters but none as charming at the Howell.

My group hosted a charity event at the Theater and could not be more happy with the way things turned out. The owner and staff were very accommodating, setting up tables, making sure trash was emptied before we could even mention that it was full. Our guests had an amazing time, we will for sure be renting out the space again in the future.

Awesome theater!!!! Theres nothing like a small town Home town theater experience to watch movies. Excellent service. Took my grandaughters there once and the owner (before he sold out) treated us to a viewing of how the movies/reels worked. The girls were fascinated as was I. I recommend this theater Highly. I visited this theater only once before moving to NYC, but have visited it since and absolutely LOVE it! I can only compare it to the IFC Center in Manhattan, which is similarly small, screens indie films, and serves up organic popcorn. However, this theater is actually much better. Its way cuter for one, and I like the local vibe.

This is a theater unlike any other in the area and offers a great selection of classic, independent and modern movies. The organic-ingredient popcorn is amazing and worth the trip itself. The theater even has some nice space inside to sit and talk movies after showings. Ill definitely be going again.

While waiting for the movie to start they played so many stupid clips telling you to go buy popcorn that it was off putting. They kept the theater so cold that I shivered through most of the movie. I wouldnt recommend it.

The staff are so nice at Howell theater. The art and decorations are so interesting. Oh and the movie experience itself: great sound and video display is good enough to keep you engaged. So glad this place is in business.

Vintage movie house completely renovated with digital projection. Tyler the owner is a legitimate movie guy. Programs include classic movies, art house, new films, and fun special events. Great popcorn!

A local theater that competes with the big guys. They host call back movies all the time: jaws, Donnie darko. They also get limited release stuff like the void. Super friendly staff and just a fun place

Small two screen theater that shows both big name mainstream new arrivals as well as more indie artsy intellectual films. Great atmosphere, great prices, great selection. I love this place.

Quaint and pleasant place. Movie times are posted outside. We went and saw zootopia and were the only two in the theater! They accept cards and cash
