Tickets to the tour were purchased at the Henry Ford museum. A shuttle bus took me to the entrance at the factory itself. The tour limits photography and is sternly enforced from what I saw. Visitors are taken to a movie theater to view a film detailing the history of Ford and the Rouge Plant within that. You then proceed to a second theater where a presentation created by Disney details the assembly of a F-150 pickup like those you see on the tour. The presentation is outstanding and exciting to watch. Afterward visitors can proceed to one of several areas. One is the car display and gift shop, the second a viewing platform 8 stories above ground level. It provides an overview of the “green roof” and provides a birds eye view of the vast complex. Finally there is the factory tour itself. It is subject to the workers schedule, which is to say there is no certainty anything will be happening. However as the plant makes several thousand trucks a day the odds are good of seeing it working normally most times of the day. The tour takes place on walkways with former employees stationed every so often. There are educational displays to touch on some of what one sees below. It is three quarters of a mile in distance and will take an hour or so to properly view. It is fascinating and insightful and definitely on my list for returning too with my kids.

No photos allowed due to trade secrets, but this was one of the coolest things Ive done in my life. Very neat to literally see the truck parts coming in from different parts of the building and then see the people working with super high-tech tools/machines to assemble them. Worth the cost and time.

A good place to learn the history of Henry Ford and auto industry. We got the combo ticket for 3 attractions because the tickets dont expire! If you get enough time and plan well, combo ticket is absolutely an economy. 2 movies are awesome, as well as the factory tour. A bit short though.

As a trucker doing my best to get the load safely to its destination, the people at this plant are the most rude Ive encountered. The Grey dock is a joke. This is the worst Ive been treated in a American plant. Im almost ashamed to own a FORD.

¡Wow! Si estás ahí, tienes que ir. Cuando salgas, vas a ver los coches, Detroit, a Ford con otros ojos.

Great tour of the Ford Rouge Factory. Its a self guided tour but really interesting watching the way Ford F-150s were built. The museum was very interesting too. Lots of informative and historical displays.

Loved the movie and the method (3D effects) of explaining the design and manufacturing process of F-150. A great source of information for the students to observe the automotive assembly line.

Very interesting to actually see F150s being built on the assembly line. The only downside was you cant take any pictures or video. Its still worth the trip to see the process.
