Cranbrook is a very unique multi cultural educational community. I admire the K through 12 college prep school, the Institute of Science ( and 100,000 sq ft science museum), the Art Museum, the post graduate program Art Academy, and the fabulous grounds that contain Carl Millis sculpture. There is a lot to see and do.

I went in with a lot bigger expectations than I should have there wasnt much art from people I knew and honestly it wasnt that great it took me about 20 minutes to get through the entire place. Obviously its a further drive but head to the Detroit Institute of Arts if you are looking for real art.

Best thing about going to Cranbrook are the well maintained grounds. The art museum on the other hand cost like $15 just to get in and doesnt hold a candle to the DIA. Havent been in the science museum yet but I am guessing again that it pales in comparison to the Detroit Science Center.

A gem for anyone remotely or seriously interested in art. The semi permanent collections and exhibits are usually tied to local artists who made it big and make it that much more contextual.

It is located on a beautiful campus and the museum building and sculptures were a piece of art by themselves. The Giriard folk art and furniture display were amazing.

Situated on the gorgeous Cranbrook campus, the art museum is always worth a visit. Whether for an exhibit or a museum makery class - the CAM never disappoints.

Magnificent Saarinen building set in beautiful grounds. One of Detroits hidden treasures. Unfortunately completely closed the day we went due to "icy roads"!!
