I dont know where to begin about this place. Its terrible. You can hear the movies of other theaters through the walls... clearly, especially during quiet scenes in your movie or loud scenes in other theaters. Their showtimes are terrible, though this is a trend in most theaters these days. Its staffed with younger and disinterested staff. Although, the worst problem is not entirely the beacons fault because most of the blame rests on the area and the fact that every single time I go to a movie, there is some idiot talking full volume the whole time, ruining the viewing experience. Heres the thing though, they dont check on the movies like in most theaters. If they would just send an usher in once or twice throughout the movie, these types of situations could be avoided or at least mediated, but the beacon is more concerned with searching you for candy contraband than customer satisfaction. Dont go here if you dont like people going through your purse or pockets to make sure you didnt sneak a snickers bar in. I would ask for my money back because Ive yet to see a movie (even when there is like 10 people in the theater) where things have gone smoothly and Ive left satisfied, but I would literally have to ask every single time.. and to be quite frank, I think Im done giving this place chance after chance. Give your money to the little cinema or the triplex in GB, hell... even go the mall..they at least care about your business.

I went here for the first time with my little brother for some quality time (something we dont get to do very much). He has a variety of allergies. Thinking ahead, I packed snacks that he can have at the movies, and put them in my jacket in case he got hungry. It was a Tuesday and we were some of the only people there (there was only one other person in the movie with us). I was very surprised when I was asked by the ticket taker to "look through my coat". I explained right away that had snacks for my brother who has severe allergies. What did they say? "We need to look through your coat maam". I was told that we may bring ONE item of three into the theater and were forced to hand over our contraband. I paid $19 for a matinee to get harassed by a teenager and unlawafully searched. Later when I was leaving I got an apology and two free movie passes. Why? because what happened to us was not only immoral and embarrassing, it was not legal (that is why it made you feel guilty). I will not be visiting this theater again and I am spreading the news of my experience. I would just like to say, "try your little search move with a person of color some other minority and see how that blows over." Just because I appeared to be a young mother without a lot of money does not give you the right to search me before I patronize your establishment. Richard Stanley Politics as usual.

the common movie theatre appearance is below The Beacons level of visual pleasure, but the staffs pleasentness has been compared to "getting kicked in the gentlemans region"- anonymous ex-becon fan, and for a while i did not know where people were getting this conclusion from because prior to last friday i was always treated with nothing but respect from the staff on hand, but my last visit took a turn for the worse. As i was in line to purchase a ticket for the viewing of the hunger games, a tall male clothed in beacon paraphernalia round house kicked me in my private area, he reapeated this act untill i was in a puddle of my own tears, when i regained consciousness i imediately fled from the establishment and filled a complant at the police department. i have yet to have success with the local authorities. for this reson i have written out this review/warning to all the males that were/are planning to visit this theatre, if you take kindly to having your manhood intacked DO NOT go the beacon, thanks for taking my advice into consideration.

The environment and atmosphere are nice, but things could run a little smoother. It was well past the films scheduled start time before we were actually allowed into the theater, due to the theater being cleaned, according to one employee. I dont know if this was an isolated occurrence or standard procedure for this establishment, but having to stand around the lobby for an additional 15-20 minutes was rather off-putting. Also, just getting to the building itself is frankly a pain in the ass, unless you have the fortunate timing to find a parking spot right out front. I ended up behind the row of buildings, and one street over, due to the garage being jam packed. Go at least once and judge the experience for yourself. Me, Im content with Regal Cinemas at the Berkshire Mall. At least there I know parking is no issue, seating is no issue, and I wont be left to twiddle my thumbs around the concession stand after purchasing my ticket. Also, that pitiful mall needs all the support it can get.

This movie theater is by far the best place to see a movie in the Berkshires. You can buy drinks such as beer and wine and see a movie. I dont know about you, but I hate feeling crammed next to a person while watching a movie cause the seats are placed literally right against each other. At the beacon, every seat is spacious!! And to top that off, the seats rock back so you can find your absolute most comfortable position and enjoy the movie with out cares. Ok, so right there, its already awesome, glad you think so too. There is only one more thing about this movie theater that rocks any other theaters socks off. Tuesday nights movies are only FIVE dollars!!! are you kidding? The 3D movies are only $6.50 talk about a bargain. Over at the other cinema at the mall, a 3D movie is $12.50 any night of the week. Ill go right ahead and choose beacon. Plus its near hip bars and good restaurants in the area. SWEET.

Absolutely appalled by the policy of bringing someone under 17 to an R rated movie. As a legal guardian I was asked if I had "paperwork" to justify my authorization as a legal guardian. No, I did not think I needed to bring paperwork and birth certificates to go see Hangover 3. Thanks for saving us the $19.00. Scanning my ID and mentioning that being only 22 years old does not show enough justification of being eligible for legal guardianship really topped it off. As a 22 year old, with a bachelors degree and job that holds much more importance then the position of "Manager of the Beacon Cinema", I laugh at you for this. Also, it was my 16, almost 17 year old brother that I was trying to bring it. Its not like it was a 10 or 11 year old. Two thumbs down for this experience.

We used to love this theater and was so happy to see it open on North Street, however, I have to agree with the other reviewers about the harassment by teenagers about food/drink upon entering the theater. I had a coffee that was half finished and they made me throw it out or have it held at the front. I understand not wanting outside food brought in but I did purchase drinks and candy at the concession for my children so to make me throw away an almost finished coffee I feel is unwarranted. I also am not sure we will return. I wouldnt think they could afford to turn away local Berkshire residents who support their business in slower times. There were also only 5 other people in the movie with us that showing.
