They care more about making money than the conditions for their fish. Everytime I go there the place is dirty, cramped, water is green, tanks covered in algae, dead fish in the tank and I saw one tank with about fifty small fish with most of their heads chewed up. I bought a Jack Dempsey and Texas Cichlid from a younger woman who assured me they would be ok in my African Cichlid tank. Come to find out that they were South American Cichlids and werent supposed to go in with the Africans. The Texan died a week later and the Dempsey got Ick. Hes currently being nursed back to health. We asked questions about the PH and temperature they need to be in prior to buying. I spoke with the owner and told him what happened. He said they keep their Africans at a lower PH and blamed it on possible fish aggression and size of different fish. Aggression wasnt the issue. The fish died because it required a lower PH. Richard refused to do anything to resolve the issue, not even take the sick Dempsey back and nurse to health.

Do not go here!! We were adding some cichlids to our tank and went here. They sold us a Jack Dempsey and Texas Cichlid knowing we had an African Cichlid tank. Because we were fairly new to a Cichlid tank, we asked a lot of questions. We told them the temperature, ph level, etc. They assured us that these fish would do well in our tank. We should have known not to listen to them when they had multiple tanks with dead fish and other live fish that had bites taken out of them. Sure enough, the Texas Cichlid died within a week and the JD got really sick. We nursed the JD back to health, but found out it needs a pH of 7.0, not 8.0 (our current ph.) We called them up to see what could be done to fix the situation and the man that answered (the owner), aruged with us about fish size and aggression. We told him this was not the issue. The issue was they sold us a fish that required different perameters than our current tank. And he refused to listen and eventually hung up on us! Do not waste youre time or money here.

after reading these reviews, i had to share my experience. I have been following this store since the late 90s and I have always had a good experience working with them. i have never lost a fish from this group and i can always count on them to have what i need. The owners are very knowledgeable in this aquarium hobby and they always have what your average pet store will not have. People are judging based on the wrong things. I would get frustrated as well if dealing with people who dont research the stock prior to purchasing or visiting the store and expect me to give you the entire care guide to a particular fish. So what if the shop is cluttered or dirty sometimes, its expected when dealing with fish with high demands in their tanks. This is by far one of the best small business Aquarium shop around and I am glad I found them again. i was going crazy because i cant get what i want at Petsmart/Petco. This shop is not for beginner but for the seasoned aquarium hobbiest! 5 stars from me!!

I just went there and they have an impressive display of different fish, aquarium supplies, and other miscellaneous pet supplies for birds and small animals. My reason for the low stars is I felt concerned for the health and well being of their parrots. They were all in small cages and had ragged feathers and looked bored. They were only being fed seeds from what I saw, whereas Im sure parrots need a more varied diet. Maybe neglect is not the case here, maybe I just came at the wrong moment, but I felt really bad for the parrots, being the intelligent and social creatures that they are. Also there was no labeling on the bird cages so I had absolutely no idea which bird was which and their price. Shopkeepers werent helpful either. Also, I saw a lot of sick/dead fish so I am worried about the quality of care for the creatures here.

I drove up there yesterday, its inside of the mall. It took a minute to find but Im so happy I found it ! They are stocked on American cichlids. Theres about 5 tanks of Africans , witch is usually what most fish shops carry, a few tanks of community. No salt water. This is awesome for me because Im a American cichlid fanatic ! They had true Midas, they actually let me buy their fry for like 2 bucks a piece. Witch was awesome. A lot of fish that arent located anywhere else , they had in stock! Honestly they could take better care of their tanks, I only saw one fish dying but it said NFS & I think it was donated to them, so not sure if thats on them. I drove all the way to Annapolis to pick up my husband and back again I loved this place so much! Will definitely be there more often !!!

This place is great if you are an experienced aquarist. They have fish you wont find at the mega mart fish stores. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have been getting fish from them for years and have never had a problem. Some of the comments saying that they dont care about the fish because of how some of the tanks look are completely wrong. This is what a REAL fish store looks like! Bottom line if you want a fish you cant find anywhere else they probably have it and you wont be disappointed.

The live birds in the store are held in deplorable conditions. This appears to be a dumping ground for a bird mill. There is a compliment of macaws, conures and smaller parrots that are in various stages of sickness or self destruction. The food provided is all seed and not appropriate for parrots. There is not a single affordance provided for the health or enrichment of any of the companion birds here. Do not patronize.

While they did have a lot of cichlids. They dont take care of their tanks and fish at all. There were dead and sick fish, green water, algae covered glass everywhere and the fish werent labeled well. Every dry product is behind the counter like a liquor store. I was the only person in the store for 20 minutes. I dont know what the other reviews are talking about; they dont sell parrots or anything other than fish.

This aquarium store sucks. Horribly kept and employees are rude and unwilling to help. Putting fish into bags that are too small and filling them with any aquarium water...not even the same water from the tank. The manor in which they keep their tanks and fish is downright animal cruelty. Save yourself the hassle, dont ever go!

This is the best store for large growing cichlids and oddball fish, the stuff this guy carries is hard to find and at a reasonable price, I would give him a five if he upgraded his supplies and cichlid food but as far as live stock aquatics he get a 6 out of five. Ah heck Im a give him a five anyway.

I will never ever go there again none of the people there knew what they where talking about. They told us one of the fish was a shark but it was really a cat fish you can barely get any help everyone act like they are to busy to answer any question And they are to messy and to cluttered.
