Very nice place to hike, camp, and canoe. Peaceful and serene atmosphere always. Great rangers who work exceptionally well with children ( especially ranger rick who we have enjoyed many times) Fun hay rides when they have their farm day, it is a really really fun and relaxing time. Newer observation deck really high up to make bird watching amazing!! Hate even honestly writing this review because its like a hidden gem that i dont want to become overcrowded when I am there, but I am sure they probably would like, maybe need? the support and truly do deserve it. Every visit has been extremely enjoyable. Though the bay water area needs our help to make it cleaner!!! (Obviously, that is the one negative i would give about the scenary) I will add a pic next time. Free boat rides along the waterway that is really nice and relaxing.

Trails are clearly marked and there are several sceanic views. The old rail trail is worth a visit as it has many beautiful views. If you want a slightly more challenging hike there are also several other trails.

Great views of the Patuxent River. They do an excellent job here of preserving the land and Marsh as it should be. Lots of wildlife and it is very educational.

Dogs are not allowed in the southern area of the reserve. Upon discovering this we did a quick 3 mile loop in the northern area. Lots and lots of ticks.

Secluded and very natural but we saw some riff-raff smoking dope and littering. We found out later they were MD state DNR employees.
