we had a reservation scheduled in advance, booked with honors points. my brother- in-law is an honors member, who stays at hilton properties 50+ nights per year. he gifted the stay to us as a wedding gift. we arrived in baltimore after a cruise at approximately 10am, and called to hotel to see if an early check in was available. they said probably not, but to call again once we were off the ship. we went to the hotel at 12:30 to check, and again, we were told our room was not ready, but would be in an hour. the hotel staff assured us that they would call us once our room was ready. we called at 1, still not ready. we went across the street to camden yards to watch the orioles game, which went into a rain delay. we called at 3, still not ready. we left the stadium at 4:30, walked back to the hotel, and was told that our room was still not ready. regular check-in at this hotel is at 4, and we had a reservation. as in, not just walking in of the street. i was getting very annoyed at this point. we were told it would be as soon as possible, within an hour. the front desk manager gave us passes to go to the executive lounge to wait for our room. at 6:30pm, we hadnt heard from anyone, so we asked a staff member in the lounge if they could check on our status. we were told that our room was ready anna that we could come down and get our keys at it convenience. we were finally in our room at 7pm. the room was not what i expected. it was to be ball park view, we could see the park, but not much of the field. no refrigerator, TV channels did not come in, or had no sound. we inquired about a late checkout since we were so late into our room, and were told that it would be a fee. very poor customer service. it ruined our visit to baltimore. we ended up getting up early and going home. for a hilton that sells this room for $220 / night, and this booking being an honors points redemption, i expected so much more. i am also a business traveler, with many past hotel stays. this stay was extremely disappointing.

My brother and I stayed for Bronycon 2013, and didnt have a pleasant experience at all. I, myself, have only stayed at relatively inexpensive hotel lodgings in the past and so I (foolishly) expected certain comforts like free wifi and also a continental breakfast. When we checked in we were given a 50% off coupon for the wifi (made it $5 a day, still pretty high IMO) and when I called down to reaffirm what we were told about the available food in the lounge, the waitstaff at the front desk rudely scoffed "No, maam, we dont serve free food here." We paid around $1100 total for the room, my mistake for assuming that price included some things that less extravagant hotel would throw in for free. My brother just got back from war overseas and is also very shy, I only just now found out that they would not give him a military discount in addition to a brony discount, and they were both an equal amount off of the total price. He doesnt like hand-outs anyway but I think its worth noting. On the second day I lost a phone charger, but I didnt worry because in my experience, phone chargers are the most frequently left behind item at hotels, so I went to the front desk to ask if one was found. They directed me to a phone so that I could call their security, and then I was asked what day specifically was it lost, and no they did not find one on that day. Im 100% sure they have a box full of chargers somewhere on the premises but Im not sure why they couldnt lend me one. They probably have a policy against it or something but it seemed to only add to the frustration of the experience. I hesitated in leaving a review for this hotel at all because, as it is connected directly and conveniently to the convention center, Im sure even if I recorded here that they punched me directly in the face and stole my luggage that their rooms would still be easily filled. If I ever go back I will book a room at one of the hotels across the street, as Im certain I will have a more pleasant experience.

Brief introduction... Im an HHonors member and I try to stay at Hilton Hotels as often as I can, however, Ive found that I usually favor the Garden Inn and DoubleTree lines as the flagship Hilton Hotels are usually outrageously priced and do not offer anything more than what the less-expensive Hilton lines do. That brings me to the Hilton Baltimore, room came at a discounted price, so no real complaints there, but when you factor in the cost for parking ($28 per night/$40 for valet), and the charge for Internet ($10-13 per day), the cost of your stay really starts to add up. I actually called and requested a code for the Internet as this was my first stay at this particular Hilton and I was denied the code (even for just a 24 hour period) and was told I could use the free WiFi available in the lobby. Never in my life have I been forced to pay for Internet at any hotel (including Hilton). I ordered room service twice, first from their late night menu (food was quite good) and then again from their breakfast menu (I could have gone to IHOP and paid less for a better meal). If Im going to pay a premium for "good" food delivered to my room, then that food better be worth the cost. Now, I cannot vouch for everything the hotel has to offer as I only stayed for one evening and did not take advantage of things like the gym, pool, etc., but I honestly cannot believe that anything this hotel has to offer other than its proximity to the downtown Baltimore area makes it anywhere near the cost. Pros: Updated, comfortable, quiet rooms. Shades pull tight and the room stays dark. Prompt, courteous service in all regards. Convenient to downtown and major highways. Cons: Outrageously expensive. Pay for parking. Pay for Internet. Food is not worth the price. More or less pay for anything extra. No microwave or mini-fridge. Needless to say, I will not be staying here again, and unless you really have money to burn, Id suggest staying elsewhere.

My stay was good. The rooms were clean and all of the hotel staff was friendly. The indoor pool and hottub are a great bonus. The view of the ballpark is great also. I had two negative experiences here, both part of the hotel but not owned by the hotel. 1st the valet parking was closed off. I didnt know this until i arrived. I was very upset because the valet told me to go to the next hotel (days inn)to park. I did this and they said they dont know why he sent me there. I spent 45 mins after my 3 hr drive looking for parking. It was during a ball game. When i finally got to check in i was frustrated. The front desk was nice and helpful. She mentioned that the valet is not owned by the hotel and they let non hotel guests valet there. This is frustrating as you pay a decent price to stay here. I believe hotel guests should get reserved spaces in the valet. She did give me a slip for a comped drink at the bar which was awesome. She didnt need to do that. Her friendliness was enough to alleviate my frustrations. This leads to my next issue. I went to the bar bought some drinks and food. I gave the comp slip which was for a free alcoholic beverage. The bartender who was more interested in talking to his friends sitting at the bar than serving the other patrons rung me up even though the other bartender was running around doing all the work. He comped me the bottle of water. I asked why and he said because it was the cheapest drink. Even though the comp was for an alcoholic beverage. I didnt argue because i didnt expect the comp anyways. This guy didnt seem to care about tips or working. If it was just him i wouldnt of tipped however i didnt want to cheat out the other bartender who was obviously frustrated and working hard. Overall the hotel staff works hard to make your stay here great and comfortable. Just stay away from the bar.
