UPDATE 8/30/2017: Sadly, amc bought the parent company of this theater and raised prices $7.41 for a ticket after 6pm. Makes this theater pointless, and Im going to guess it wont be around much longer. Why pay $2 less to see the same movie in a theater with uncomfortable stained seats in a dirty auditorium with a screen that has spots on it when you can just drive to Cinemark ten minutes away or pay $4 to go to regal ten minutes away with their recliner seats? AMC ruined this place by turning into first run movies. Thats what AMC tends to do though... Ruin good things. ----------------- OLD REVIEW: They were sold, I believe to AMC...and I saw them remodeling stuff the other day. It sure needs it. Im okay with the seats not being stadium seating. I actually like that sometimes. It feels nostalgic. I even like the narrow hallways and the cool seats in the lobby that encircle the columns. What I dont like are the gross walls, the torn seats, the missing drop ceiling panels, the heat that doesnt always work in every auditorium (Watched a movie the other day and nearly froze)...nor do I like that you have to inspect each seat with a flash light on your phone before sitting down, as many of them have black goo that looks to have been stuck on the seats sometime in the last millennium. Hopefully they change the seats out. They have some love seats in most of the auditoriums (perhaps all of them?) They are kind of cool, but they have absolutely no padding. The floors are often quite dirty and sticky from my experience. I would give a higher rating if they did a deep clean of the walls, the floors, the seats (or put in new seats)...but for $2, I guess you cant complain too much? Then again, most of any theaters profits are made in concessions, and the prices here are the same (it seems) as any other of the larger first run theaters in town. Dont get me wrong...I like the place in general, it has a nice vibe, and you can, if you choose, skip the overpriced concessions and pay $2 to see a movie on a big screen. It feels nostalgic, it reminds me of high school in a lot of ways. But, yeah- some cleaning and some minor fixes are in order.

This is a second-run theater. Tickets used to be $2, now $5. So I know the seats are going to be worn, the screen small, the staff underpaid. I was prepared for this. I wasnt prepared for a 3 foot stain running across the movie screen that made it literally impossible to see the actors faces during the run of the movie. This should be cleaned or replaced IMMEDIATELY. There is no excuse for paying any amount of money to see a film and then spend 2 hours and 21 minutes distracted by a giant black smudge across the screen that makes it impossible to see what is going on. I should have complained and asked for my money back. Or selected another movie. But I just felt so sorry for the employees that I couldnt bring myself to complain. Also I missed this movie during its first run, and really wanted to see it at least once in a theater (even a crappy theater, as was the case here). It is a testament to how good the movie was that I still enjoyed the movie even though mainly I had to just guess at what was going on visually on the screen. UPDATE: I am giving this theater two-stars instead of my initial one-star based on the fact that Kathy Braaten, General Manager of AMC Classic Lexington 10, did contact me about my initial review of my experience in her theater. She did not offer me a refund, but at least she acknowledges that there is a problem. Here is her response: "I am sorry to hear that your visit was not a pleasant one. As far as the screen goes we are working on getting them replaced. We have 3 bad screens that we are in the process of getting them sized and then ordered once the measuring is completed."

This theater is very run down. I can remember when it was a brand new theater back in the 90s. The parking lot is ridiculous. You can definitely tell from the parking lot what to expect on the inside as well. They say dont judge a book by the cover but with this place what you see is what you get. The lobby was clean but the popcorn was burnt. Tickets are definitely affordable but concessions are still as high as a nicer theater. The carpet in the hall is nasty. The bathrooms seemed clean. We where in theater one and the screen was wore so bad that you saw lines and big spots throughout the movie. Floors were sticky and seats look questionable. Ceiling tiles had water damage some were cracked or broke. We went here to try out the movies with our 3 year old. She enjoyed it but Im not sure if we will go back here. I miss it when it was clean and fresh feeling. It needs a ton of work to get this place into shape. The markers down the hall that used to say what movie was in each theater are also broken and now have signs stuck on top of them just to number each theater as well.

One of the best things in Lexington was that it still had an inexpensive second-run movie theatre. Even a bad movie was pretty fun when all you paid was $2 per ticket plus concessions. I knew we were in trouble when AMC purchased Carmike Theatre. The "retro" theatre with old seats, sticky floors, and old school audio and visual systems, was a value when tickets were just $2. Now, AMC takes it over, changes nothing inside, calls is "classic" and raises the prices to $7 per ticket!!! Yikes! I can head to Movie Tavern, Cinemark or Regal, pay $9 and get a beautiful facility and a leather recliner. What a mistake AMC has made. I will never again chose to see a movie at this theatre at this price when the other options are so much better. What a shame. The $2 Carmike was pretty hopping with families seeing all those great movies that already left the first run theatres.

It used to be pretty cool at the $2 price. Now theyve raised their prices. 4.99 matinee, 6.99 after 6. The seats are still broken down and this theater is always dirty. Theres no indication which movies are in which theater. I came about 20 min early for a movie starting at 7:35. There was nothing on the screen. I went out at 7:40 and they turned the projector on but the ads that should have been on the 20 minutes previously all played...so over half an hour after the movie was scheduled to start the previews have not even started! People came in asking which movie was showing. Its absolutely ridiculous! Dont waste your time. Spend the extra few dollars and go to one of the nicer theaters. It was fine for $2, but I wont be going back!!!

My husband and I have went to Carmike for the last 3 nights in a row. And last night I had an issue and approached a woman that was working there and asked her if she could take care of the problem, but of course she did NOTHING so then the issue kept up so again me having to miss some of the movie that my husband and I paid to see I went back out again to find somebody but this time I went straight to a manager thinking she would take care of it, boy was I ever freaking wrong. The manager never came in and did nothing. So to me thats a damn sad excuse for a manager if she wouldnt even take the time to come in and check and see what was going on. In my opinion those people that work there dont give a damn about anybody
