Good daily specials & good meals for the price. Service was okay when I went recently during the week for dinner. Was especially confusing when there are 3 people, at different times, that seat you & take drink & dinner orders without any introductions. Was told by one of our waiters that the "Specials" menu on the table was out-of-date. Food wasnt fantastic or modern but was okay; would probably be a place that your dish would dependably look exactly the same each time you ordered it.

I wish I had my $20 back. Overcooked (hard/burned/dry) house potatoes (me), undercooked (GFS) hashbrowns - cold inside (my daughter), omelette that smelled/tasted horrible, like all ingredients were fake, couldnt finish (my daughter), waffle that was tough and hard to cut. Will never return and am so disappointed because Id really like to see a restaurant succeed here.

Very slow when we were in there. Didnt really need to hear the life and times of the waitress staff. Shut it. We are here to eat and visit not hear about your personal life. The headbagging hairball music was disappointing as well. Food was fast and decent.

Just had nachos the best ever. now waiting for ribeye. It was honestly the best steak ever. Our server Shawna was great she talked me into the steak and am I glad she did. She was great. I have found a new favorite place.

Dimly lit comfortable atmosphere with great menu options. This night I had the Philly sandwich and mashed potatoes, both were excellent. Well kept and clean restaurant with historically charming train pictures.

One of my favorite restaurants in the Des Moines area. Low-lit, quiet, and possibly Romantic place with a railroad themed interior. Food quality is fantastic. Service is always excellent! Highly recommended!

The best steak you can get at a restaurant in town. The Coal Car Ribeye at $30 beats the best steaks you can buy for twice that elsewhere. Reasonably priced, this place is also the most bang for your buck.

I was not a fan of this resaurant. The interior style, menu, food, and staff were all dated. It was nothing terrible, but I wont be going back. Bland, boring food, and fairly high prices.
