Overall it was a decent stay. Paid almost $400.00 for the Valentines Package and Josh made the whole process very easy to set up and was patient which was very nice to have. The room was very nice and clean as well. The shower only provided luke warm water for our whole stay which was pretty disappointing but the tub filled up with hot water. Another buzz kill was the fact the hot tub didnt work either. Which I understand things happen but I think you should let people know before they book with you that some of your ammenties arent property working. The staff was very friendly for the most part and kudos to Amber who was our waitress for dinner. She did a wonderful job. The breakfast menu was pretty sub par for the package that we got. I guess I have felt any other time I spent $400 plus for a night for my partner and I that we are more or less getting the best of the best. The bowling alley was nice but there is no upkeep on the lanes so its more of a nostalgia factor when bowling in a building so old. The singer who played in the lounge sounded wonderful. Overall the staff was friendly and things were nice but I dont feel the money is worth what you receive.

My wife and I spent Saturday night May 6, 2017 at the Hotel Pattee in the "Betty Mae Harris room" #217. We got a free upgrade. The room was moderately large, clean, quiet, and comfortable not to mention unique, as are all the rooms. The hotel itself is beautifully restored to its 1913 condition with all the modern amenities. There were two wedding receptions in progress that evening yet we didnt hear any noise. We had a great breakfast in the hotel cafe Sunday morning. Staff was very friendly and efficient. If you want a nice get-a-way, this is the place, especially if you appreciate craftsman style furnishings and woodwork. The cafe is also a railroad fans delight for decor. This is not a franchise "cookie cutter" hotel. In a big city, youd pay two to three times what they charge for staying at this gem. It is a great and fun experience. Go!

We stayed for the first time at the Hotel Pattee under new management in January, 2014 for my birthday. We had stayed previous time under prior owners, but this was by far our best experience. We always enjoy the hotel room (so many to choose from). Owner Jay Hartz has transformed your hotel experience to a "put on your bucket list" first class home away from home. Good heavens, you can dine in Davids Milwaukee Diner, enjoy spa treatment (with an appointment), go bowling, enjoy free music on the weekends, or spend time in the Lounge. The hotel also recently opened Pattee Cakes (cupcakes extra-ordinaire) named in a contest - 6 flavors. We brought one home on our last visit on May 24, 2014. We enjoyed breakfast again today with friends and it was hearty and extremely filling. We love this place!

I would expect the best food in town to be here. Not so. The water is tap water. Not filtered or anything. Tastes like it came from the toilet. I got a lemonade (it was very hot out) and it was a lemonade mix! Is it really that hard to make some lemonade from scratch?! The lemonade was made with the horrible tap water. Gross. The food was OK. My wifes chicken patty was dry and overcooked. My burger was decent. After trying the water we avoided "home cooked" food, because we feared the Chicken Parm would have a Tyson chicken patty. Very disappointed. We expected much better from this establishment.

Absolutely terrible, we booked a "King Suite," when we arrived at 11:00pm, we were told the room had been given away and they had no more rooms... they ended up putting 2 people (that were in the same group) together into a room, cleaned the room and checked us into it... the room had its issues, tiny, QUEEN not a king like booked, and was clown themed and my wife is deathly afraid of clowns... this wouldnt have even been an issue if we were given the room we booked in the first place... the staff was not very helpful and seemed irritated with the whole ordeal... never again will i stay here

Stayed at the hotel for a summer board retreat. The staff was attentive to our needs. Each room featured a different theme and character, filled with beautiful art. The meals were savory, and the staff treated the guests to fresh chocolate chip cookies in the evening! I visualize Hotel Pattee as a fun destination site for those interested in the Rails to Trails Bike System in Central Iowa. Daytime hikes and bike rides, with a return to the hotel at night for a wonderful dinner and pleasant rest, would be a delight! There are many other unique features at the Hotel Pattee to explore!

This is an historic landmark hotel built in the early 1900s. The period Prairie Style decor is meticulously cared for; no detail is missed. Each individual room has a unique theme, a country, region or famous individuals like the Louis Armstrong room, and the John Wayne room. People mostly come here for the history. The rooms are immaculate, but there is no concerige, vending machines or any food or drink options after 10pm. The town of Perry is doing a great deal to pull itself up from economic depression. The Hotel Patee is the jewel in the centerpiece.

This review is in celebration of our 13th wedding anniversary. This fantastic hotel hosted the reception. Ill freely admit I havent been there in years, but the Hotel Pattee was such a beautiful place in a place where you wouldnt expect it. At the time we lived in Honolulu, but held the wedding in Iowa close to where my wife grew up. As you could imagine, planning a wedding from 4000+ miles away was extremely difficult. The hotel staff made it easy, and service went waaayy beyond what was expected. Hope to visit soon in the very near future!

I stayed at the Hotel Pattee three weeks ago. I thought that the hotel was incredible. The whole experience from the time that I parked in front to the time that I drove away was like a trip into the past. The attention to detail in the renovation/decoration is so incredible. Its history is so interesting, but what impresses me the most it the commitment by Jay Hartz and the city of Perry to keep this amazing place open. I certainly will visit again and recommend it to my friends.

Beautiful furnishings, and very attentive staff. Themed rooms with spacious, modern bathroom facilities. Prices are very reasonable. From appetizers to entrees, the food is creative and cooked well. Owner Jay Hartz strolled by just to chat a couple of times. Entertainment in the lobby was quite good. This hotel has a lot in common with Wright on the Park in Mason City. I would highly recommend the Hotel Pattee for a relaxing weekend!

Beautiful restoration. Very busy but service was still good. We were there for a nonprofit Gala in the ballroom. It was a lovely space. Food was good. Not amazing, but good. Cupcakes were not as good as before. Perhaps a change? There is minimal off street parking but also minimal traffic. We would live to return and spend the night in one of their famous theme rooms.

This place oozes comfort and historic charm! Staff was fantastic, third floor room clean and well appointed with whirlpool and large shower (The Bill Bell Room). News clippings, high end furniture, and personal memorabilia abound in this room. Restaurant was also quite delicious, but the basement spa and bowling alley will have to wait until next time we visit.
