This is a 9 hole golf course in a rural area. The course doesnt compare well with some other 9 hole courses Ive been to. Its SAD to see. This course is NOT maintained with pride, thats painfully evident. There is so much white clover on, (SOME), fairways,---the eye has difficult time to pick out the golf ball. There are 4-5 trees on this course, whos leafs are totally riddled with insect holes, drained of chlorophyll, drab color very noticeable from across the course. Dead trees, numerous on course, terrible testimony of a poorly maintained golf course. No T-boxes at tees/no flowers at the tees. I was so disappointed at the presentation of this course. Club House is also poorly maintained. Who has steps @ a Club House?? Thats just crazy!! SO MANY AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT NEEDED. For comparison, there is a course in Eastern Iowa, dont recall the name of the course,---but it is a few miles west of DeWitt, IA. on U.S. 30, between DeWitt and Grand Mound. The course is on the north side of the highway. I lived in Eastern Iowa community of DeWitt, (population 5,000), in Clinton Co. for 10 yrs. I was not @ course frequently, but more than once. This course had ponds, one w/a fountain, well maintained Fairways & Greens maintained well. Greens were never brown in drought times. Another 9 hole golf course in Iowa, Coon Rapids, (population 1,100), is in West Central Iowa, in the SE corner of Carroll Co. Lived there for 18 yrs. The course sits on the North side of State Hwy 141. There is a pond, with fountain very visible from Hwy 141. There may be more ponds on back side, dont recall. This has underground irrigation, always green, even in drought conditions. Fairways are green & maintained/no weeds. Greens are immaculately maintained, always irrigated. Dead trees are removed, fungus is treated. Insect infestations are treated immediately. These greens are NEVER BROWN IN DROUGHT. Water is removed on course after hard rains or flooding, (sump pump use??, but not standing water). Weeds are not seen on fairways,---very well maintained. Storm damage is promptly cleaned up. Never see dead trees, shrubs. Flowers had been on T-Boxes, and maintained in past, (havent been on back side of course/for quite some time, myself), My sons however have golfed it recently and say it is still maintained immaculately. The course has a superintendent now for several years, he is Dan Clipperton, takes PRIDE in this course. PLEASE HAVE YOUR "BOARD MEMBERS" GO SEE THIS COURSE!! THIS IS CARED FOR WITH "PRIDE"!!!!!!!

Thus is GREAT for what it is. It is only a 9 hole course, but WOW, what a course. Its got two par 5s and two par 3s. The rest are par 4s. There are a few sand traps. Water hazards. Trees. Elevation changes. And a few very wide, open fairways. Its got a little bit of everything crammed into a 9 hole course. The staff is small town friendly. Today was my first trip to this course, and I felt like a regular. The price for 9 holes is great. The only thing that prevented me from giving it 5 stars is the cart rental price. Cart rental is the same as a round of golf. If that was a few dollars cheaper (like $12 for a round, and $20 with a cart) or adding a second round, to make 18 for a reduced price, it wood be a 5 star course.
