[6:19:52 PM] Kristina Cannon: I had a horrible experience at Delaney today.. I will NOT be coming back at all... If we would have known that we were NOT ALLOWED TO USE FLOATIES for our children, we would have NEVER came out there.. I also think that you all should have on your website the items that you are allowed to have and NOT allowed to have... It wasnt even posted on the life guards stand on what was allowed for the kids to use.. I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old.. we had gotten changed and everything and where getting into the water and then told that the floatie we were putting my daughter in was and I quote "NOT COAST GUARD APPROVED" I am sorry but I WILL be contacting the coast guard and talking to them about this. I WILL NOT BE BACK and I WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO NOT GO OUT THERE BECAUSE OF OUR EXPERIENCE.

If you are planning to stay in the primitive camping area BEWARE they allow RVs to stay in the primitive area and they will run gas generators all day and all night long! Management will do nothing about it and you will not get any sleep unless you bring earplugs. ATVs run around all day and night too, along with the golf carts with their stereos blaring out country music loaded down with 6 or more people driving continuously past your camp gapping at you like a zoo exhibit. I have never experienced a camping situation like it before. I am not surprised the place was nearly void of tent campers on a what should have been a busy Labor Day week-end for most other parks.

Definitely camp there if you like listening to other people play Lynyrd Skynyrd at full volume at 2am. Definitely camp there if you enjoy the sound of drunk people piloting ATVs right past your tent in the middle of the night. Definitely camp there if you dislike a peaceful outdoor experience and just want to get drunk and party. This place used to be one of my favorite getaways ... but recently they dont seem to care very much about making it welcoming to campers. The last three times Ive camped there have been a total disaster for all of the above reasons. Im not going back unless I have a reason to believe theyve fixed it.

I have used this park many times for hiking access to the northern terminus of the Knobstone Trail. My experiences there have been fine. I camped there one time late in the season so there werent many people there. It was a peaceful and pleasant enough place to camp. I have never used the store or beach area. The person at the gate is usually friendly and helpful. Glad to see the county is still able to keep a place like this open.

Love Delaney. We are there 3-4 days a week during camping season. If you havent been in the last 3 years you need to give it another shot. New management, new lodges, new shelter houses. They have really cleaned it up. There is absolutely no campers in the primitive camping with generators running as I saw posted before.
